"And then?"
Matthew Morgan didn’t seem to care at all.
"Three years ago, I was the one who caused that incident, yet you took the bla. I feel extrely guilty." Lucas Morgan sighed, the white smoke twirling at his fingertips, making him look a bit dejected.
It wasn’t just what happened three years ago... there were many things Matthew Morgan did for Chloe Grant, but they were all attributed to Lucas Morgan in the end.
Matthew Morgan told Lucas, "She’s too playful, she needs soone to look after her. If she knew I was good to her, she wouldn’t listen to my discipline next ti."
"The past is past, no need to ntion it." Matthew Morgan responded coldly, as if it was no big deal at all.
Lucas couldn’t understand, how was this no big deal?
Because of that incident, Matthew was gone for three years!
"Is there no need to ntion your painstaking care for Chloe? Or your concern for her, yet you never tell her?" Lucas was sowhat sarcastic, leaning against the wall, head slightly raised, looking at the ceiling...
The hospital lights were indeed a bit dirty.
When he lowered his head, Lucas shifted his body and sat in the seat next to him, not directly under the ceiling bulb.
Lucas dropped the cigarette butt, stubbed it out, and said nonchalantly, "In the three years you were away, Chloe thought her days were carefree, with no one to supervise her. But for , it was a tornt..."
Matthew said there’s no need to ntion it again, but if it was left unsaid, it would forever be a blemish on Lucas’s heart.
He lit another cigarette, took a drag, and continued, "Chloe felt relieved because she didn’t know anything. She just thought one person who disciplined her had left, so she could happily play gas, stay up all night, enjoy herself without limits. But I was different...!"
Lucas’s face suddenly darkened, and he stood up, facing Matthew, "Every day I thought about the scene that night, thought about everything when you went abroad, the bla was on !"
"Since you know, you should take good care of her," Matthew stubbed out his cigarette, "I said it before, Chloe is a playful person, she has no limits when she plays, you have to watch over her. She can’t control herself with gas and binge-watching. You can’t let her overdo it, her eyes can’t take it—"
He stopped suddenly and looked up sharply, "Did you take good care of her?"
Matthew Morgan would only talk so much when it ca to matters about Chloe Grant.
"In the three years I was gone, the first ti she went blind was because soone shone a flashlight into her eyes. You could call that an accident, and she recovered the next day. But what about the second ti?"
Lucas fell silent.
The second ti was because Chloe watched an idol drama, binge-watched all night, and then cried uncontrollably.
Lucas had reminded her, but she just replied, "I know," and Lucas didn’t bother further, going to bed on his own.
Indeed, he wasn’t a good uncle, a good elder.
It was precisely because he was worried that Lucas couldn’t take good care of Chloe, so even when Matthew was abroad, he would co back periodically, but never tell Chloe it was him, instead having Lucas indirectly tell her, having Lucas appear in front of her, rather than Matthew, who should have been abroad.
But...
Every ti Lucas wanted to say to Chloe, "Actually, it was pretending to be my brother yesterday," he felt bad inside, always thinking, if not for that incident, Matthew wouldn’t have left.
Three years ago, that was an accident.
The reason behind that accident was because Lucas took Chloe...
