Chloe Grant still hadn’t figured it out when Matthew Morgan already took her upstairs and opened one of the rooms.

Matthew Morgan turned on the light in the room.

Chloe instinctively wanted to close her eyes but found the room lighting wasn’t strong, just a faint blur that wouldn’t hurt her eyes.

Gradually, the room light seed to get a bit brighter, and she could see a little more.

"In a mont, the light will automatically brighten," Matthew Morgan explained.

But he didn’t ntion;

This room was specially designed by him for Chloe Grant.

Her eyes were too problematic; she had night blindness, often stayed up late gaming, watching TV up close, and over the years, her eyesight worsened.

Chloe was afraid of Matthew Morgan, and this was one of the reasons...

Matthew Morgan always controlled her.

He forbade her from staying up late, from playing gas, and if she watched TV too close, he would pull her back.

Unlike Lucas Morgan, who let her do whatever she wanted.

Sotis, he even conspired with her to resist Matthew Morgan.

"Pfft."

Suddenly, Chloe laughed.

Matthew Morgan was originally about to leave as the room’s brightness was almost right, but seeing Chloe laugh, he was puzzled.

"Hmm?"

Chloe quickly shook her head, "Acting crazy..."

Matthew Morgan frowned.

"Uncle Morgan, will I sleep here tonight? Can I sleep now? I’m tired," Chloe quickly said to divert the attention.

"Okay." Matthew Morgan didn’t pursue it.

"Stay here for a few days," he said calmly, paused, and added, "Rest first, call if needed."

As he turned, he closed the door.

When the door closed, Chloe breathed a sigh of relief.

She walked to the bed, lay down, feeling sowhat dazed.

She laughed because she rembered so old mories.

It happened when she was eleven or twelve.

Lucas grabbed her and asked if she wanted to rebel against Matthew?

Back then, Chloe had just lived with Matthew and Lucas Morgan for a little over a year.

Chloe was completely under Matthew Morgan’s tight control, terrified of him.

Especially his obsessive-compulsive disorder, she’d been reprimanded several tis.

Lucas incited her to ss up Matthew’s house, making sure he’d be overwheld when he returned, saying it would be fun then.

At that ti, Chloe didn’t think about how Lucas was already quite grown-up, yet still playful.

She just thought it was a great idea to get back at Matthew.

Of course...

The final result was both Chloe and Lucas getting thoroughly scolded by Matthew, sothing Chloe would never forget.

Later, they had to clean up the ss they made while kneeling.

When she suddenly recalled it just now, Chloe could laugh, thinking she and Lucas were silly like nothing else.

But now, rembering it brings a bit of earnest sorrow.

Her eyes began to redden.

Back then, Chloe liked to stick around Lucas Morgan every day.

Matthew was very busy, going to university and handling so matters of Morgan Group, while Lucas was completely idle, often bringing her food at school or taking her out of classes to play at the amusent park.

However...

Chloe never imagined this carefree Uncle Morgan would treat her like this one day.

She really wasn’t that unreasonable or self-assured.

Thinking because Lucas had grown up with her, and she liked him, he must be with her.

Chloe was hurt that after such a significant event, Lucas’s first reaction wasn’t to comfort her or ask about her situation.

But rather...

To protect Lily Grant.
