The more they laughed, the more awkward it beca.

"My boss asked to go back and read, so I need to buy so books first."

Chloe Grant didn’t want to continue the awkward conversation, so she went straight to the point.

"I’ll take you there," Jacob Lee said instinctively.

As he spoke, he moved a step closer to Chloe, but she quickly took a step back.

There was a sense of defensiveness.

Jacob paused.

Chloe used a smile to hide her awkwardness, "No need, I drove here myself. Your hand is still hurt; you should rest more.

Let call a driver for you; it’s pretty dangerous for you to drive like this."

As Chloe spoke, she already had her phone out and was making a call.

Jacob originally wanted to stop her, but he just moved his lips and ended up saying nothing.

He silently watched as Chloe called the chauffeur, then hung up the phone.

"He’s nearby and will be here soon." Chloe shook her phone and said.

Jacob looked at her.

Although she was smiling to conceal her awkwardness, Jacob wasn’t a fool; he could naturally sense Chloe’s distancing.

Clearly, that night had thoroughly frightened Chloe.

All that effort to get close... in the end, it was all in vain.

"You can go ahead, I’ll wait here."

Jacob finally sighed.

"It’s okay, I’m not in a rush." Chloe shook her head, still being responsible, "I’m the one who called the driver, and I need my phone to contact them. If I leave now and you can’t et up, it would be troubleso."

As Chloe was speaking, she saw a young guy in a chauffeur’s vest skateboarding over.

He imdiately targeted the side where Jacob, with his injured hand, was.

He stopped a ter away from them, picked up his skateboard, and walked over with a smile, "Excuse , did you call for a driver?"

"Yes." Chloe answered, then pointed to the car Jacob had parked by the roadside.

Jacob handed him the car keys.

"Let’s go first," Jacob said with a smile.

Since the driver had arrived, Chloe didn’t say much more and bid farewell to Jacob before turning to leave.

...

After buying the books from the bookstore, Chloe went back ho.

Benjamin Grant was already back.

When Chloe walked into the house, she saw Benjamin sitting on the sofa munching on a burger.

He looked a bit awkward seeing Chloe, quickly averting his gaze, and said haughtily, to cover it up, "Jodie Cooper said you leave early and return late every day. She’s scared being alone and begged to co back to keep her company."

"You brat, what nonsense are you talking!"

Just as Benjamin finished speaking, Jodie Cooper appeared out of nowhere, reached out, and gave Benjamin a slap on the head.

"Who was it that kept texting , asking when I’d beg him to co back? Stop trying to make yourself look good. Do you think your aunt would be scared? If you’re going to lie, at least make it believable, will you?"

Jodie’s words were unreserved, turning Benjamin’s face red.

However, it seed that being exposed for saying one thing and aning another made him feel guilty.

"Alright, I begged your ancestor to co back. If you didn’t, I’d keep worrying about you every day, which is why Jodie asked you to return," Chloe said with a playful smile at Benjamin.

She was just joking, providing Benjamin with a way out.

Who knew...

The originally sulking Benjamin suddenly turned his head to stare at Chloe...!
