Ralph Koch was surprised at first, then pleasantly so.
However, the feeling of delight lasted no more than a few seconds before disappointnt set in.
In that instant, he thought the two were reconciled.
Matthew Morgan finally understood that a relationship is a matter between two people, and even if sothing happens, it should be borne by both.
Not for one person to carry it all alone.
Unfortunately...
Ralph Koch was happy too early.
Their deanor completely didn’t resemble that of a reconciled couple.
"We need to set up another tent," Ralph Koch said, not investing much in their matters, but with the sun setting, they were definitely staying the night.
The issue of sleeping needs to be resolved.
"Okay," Matthew Morgan replied briefly.
Ralph Koch turned back, called to the shop, got them to send a tent, and soon set one up next to Chloe Grant.
"I’m tired, I want to sleep," Chloe Grant said, retreating into her tent.
"Sleep, I’ll call you to wake up and see the sunrise," Ralph Koch cheerfully called out.
Chloe Grant didn’t respond, zipped up the tent, grabbed the blanket, and lay down.
She simply couldn’t fall asleep.
Day and night, she couldn’t sleep at all.
Chloe Grant knew she was sick, with a damn case of insomnia.
But she had no solution.
The knots in her heart wouldn’t dissolve, her worries were too heavy, too stifling, and she couldn’t find release.
Not even having the courage to cry out loud.
As she thought more, tears ca again.
Chloe Grant buried her face in the pillow, suppressing the tears.
A ssage ca through on her phone. Chloe Grant reached for it, took so ti to calm down, and then picked up the phone.
It was a ssage from Zoe Graham: Chloe, I’m really upset.
Chloe Grant replied: Want to talk by voice?
Zoe Graham replied: I can’t right now. Chloe, do you have ti? Can you talk with for a bit?
Chloe Grant: Sure. Is sothing not going well over there? Why are you upset?
Zoe Graham: He cheated. He told he was going to drink and play cards with his buddies, but I clearly saw him going to a hotel with that manager of his. Chloe... that manager is eight years older than us. I... can’t accept it.
If he had found soone younger than , or two or three years older than us, I might have accepted it. But why... choose an older woman?
Is it because the manager can help him in his work?
Chloe, in the end, I sadly realized that the fact he cheated is not the hardest part for to accept, it’s the fact that his choice of partner is.
Zoe Graham sent a lot of ssages, and Chloe Grant read them all carefully.
Just like Zoe Graham said, if her boyfriend had just simply cheated, she might have been able to accept it.
But the fact that the other woman was inferior to Zoe Graham in age, looks, or ability was deeply wounding to Zoe’s self-esteem.
Chloe Grant looked at the ssages for a while, not knowing how to respond.
She didn’t know how to comfort her.
But she couldn’t let Zoe Graham wait too long; sotis, when soone is upset, even a clumsy attempt at comfort, as long as you respond and let them know you’re there, is the best comfort.
Chloe Grant replied: Maybe it’s just as you said, for the sake of his own career. You can only say he’s selfish.
As long as Chloe Grant replied with a sentence, Zoe Graham would send a lot more ssages back.
There were complaints, sadness, and even bits and pieces of when they just went abroad, showing Zoe Graham’s sacrifices and contributions.
So many.
Chloe Grant would always reply with comforting words whenever Zoe Graham paused, and Zoe would send a lot of ssages back.
