Jacob Lee quietly listened to Chloe Grant’s words, seemingly in agreent, as he slightly nodded his head.
When Chloe finished speaking and looked at him, he calmly picked up his glass, took a small sip, and then set it down.
"So, do you say a lot of these things to everyone you go on a blind date with?" Jacob asked.
Chloe was taken aback.
He looked up at Chloe, "Even if I agree with you now, and then we part ways. Tomorrow, you’ll be in the sa restaurant but with a different man, saying the sa things, ending with the sa result.
Don’t you think this is a waste of your ti and energy?"
"Besides, you said you don’t want to go against your elders. So, it also ans that if this blind date doesn’t succeed, the elders will continue to find soone for you, becoming even more proactive each ti, and you’ll keep rejecting them. Doesn’t this count as hurting and deceiving them?"
"I..."
Jacob’s words were sothing Chloe hadn’t thought of at all, so she couldn’t refute them at that mont.
"So, why don’t you seriously consider the man sitting across from you?" Jacob stared at Chloe.
Chloe lifted her eyes and t his gaze.
Behind the lenses were a pair of sharp, insightful eyes.
"My na is Jacob Lee, 30 years old, never married, currently serving as the Executive Vice President for the Asia-Pacific Region at FV. In my free ti, I enjoy sports, hiking, and exploring the countryside."
He straightforwardly introduced himself, making Chloe feel a bit embarrassed.
"But..."
"We’re just getting to know each other. If it really doesn’t work out, we can end it at any ti. You said your feelings are in the past, and the past can’t be reclaid. By rejecting like this, are you waiting for him to co back?
If so, why not reach out to your ex-boyfriend now, express your thoughts, and get it off your chest."
Jacob’s words hit like a heavy blow to Chloe’s heart, making her tremble.
Especially the sentence, "Are you waiting for him to co back?"
At this mont, Chloe couldn’t avoid facing herself and confronting her true feelings.
Although she always criticized Matthew Morgan, always saying she must find soone better than Matthew to make him regret and furious.
But...
Deep in her heart, she actually longed for Matthew to return to her, for them to nd their relationship, resolve the misunderstandings, and eventually be happy together.
But...
What about Thea Yates?
And Loren?
In Chloe’s mind, images naturally erged of Matthew with Loren playing happily, while Thea watched them gently.
That looked like a real family.
As for her... she was really just an ex-girlfriend.
Maybe, for Matthew, she was just an unattainable mory, a first love kind of figure.
There’s always regret, always a desire to be together, but once together, the regret would leave.
The more she thought, the sadder and more distressed she felt.
Chloe took a deep breath, and in a mont of impulse, she looked up, "Okay, I agree!"
Jacob Lee seed to have anticipated this outco, took a sip of water, and smiled faintly.
When he set down the glass, he smiled at Chloe, "Give your phone."
"What?" Chloe was confused.
Jacob had already extended his hand, and without much thought, she handed her phone over to him.
The phone was unlocked, and Jacob typed on it for a while, eventually, his phone in his pocket started ringing.
He took it out and placed it next to him, tapped a few more tis on Chloe’s phone, and finally returned it to her.
