After the al, Chloe Grant nearly finished all the food inside.
She felt very full, but didn’t want to move, curling up in her chair, scrolling through the photos on her phone.
Aside from her selfies and a few photos of Matthew Morgan, the rest were all photos of Lucas.
Photos she forced him to take, or ones she secretly snapped of him, pictures of the two of them together...
There were so many.
In the past ten years, she rarely changed her phone, and even when she did, she made sure to back up the photo album, transferring it to the new phone, fearing she might lose her mories with Lucas.
The more Chloe looked, the more her heart ached.
Especially when she ca across a certain photo.
Her face was covered in cake, yet she was smiling foolishly, with Lucas standing beside her, smiling helplessly.
This was taken on her senior year birthday, a day with a story behind it.
At that ti, Chloe, although a senior, had always approached her studies with a lackadaisical attitude, indifferent about university.
Yet, that year, for an inexplicable reason, she suddenly felt a strong desire to beco a broadcaster, a voice the whole world could hear.
She eventually chose a university renowned for its broadcasting program, but the admission score was very high, so Chloe began studying day and night, losing weight in the process and forgetting her own birthday.
That day, she just finished her monthly exams and didn’t do well, feeling discouraged, she wanted to hug Lucas, to seek comfort.
But when she opened the door, the previously dark room suddenly lit up, and Chloe saw Lucas walking towards her with a cake, singing the birthday song.
That feeling, so happy that she wanted to cry.
That birthday, it was just her, Lucas, and a ssage from Matthew Morgan.
At the ti, Elder Morgan was in the hospital with an unstable heart, and the old lady was worried sick, so they forgot.
As for Chloe’s parents, they had never rembered her birthday any year.
However, that year turned out to be Chloe’s happiest birthday because... he had put his heart into celebrating it with her.
Though he joked that if it weren’t for Matthew’s reminder, he might have forgotten too.
But Chloe didn’t mind because Lucas was always the one by her side.
When she was sad, he was the one who made her laugh.
When she was happy, he was the one who shared in it.
During her college entrance exams, he was there with her.
For all the important and unimportant monts in her life, Lucas was by her side.
But...
How did it suddenly happen that he was no longer hers?
Chloe clutched her phone, hands over her aching heart, crying nonstop.
But as she cried, she suddenly laughed, crying and laughing at the sa ti, like a madwoman, stuck in mories of the past, inescapably.
It wasn’t until the phone’s vibration numbed Chloe’s palm that she snapped back to reality.
Probably another spam text.
Chloe wiped her tears, impatiently ready to delete the ssage.
But just as she was about to press delete, she froze, quickly moving her hand away to save the text instead.
"Lucas?" Chloe was surprised, clicking open the ssage: About that night, I want to talk to you. See you at the Royal Hotel at seven tonight.
After reading the ssage, Chloe was so shocked that her phone slipped from her hand, and she instinctively hugged it, but ended up falling off the chair.
Her elbow hit the ground, sending waves of pain that made her tears flow uncontrollably.
But Chloe didn’t care, she picked up the phone to make sure the ssage was truly from Lucas.
Or had she just seen it wrong?
