"It’s fine." Matthew Morgan comforted her by grabbing her hand, but the next second, he dragged Chloe Grant’s body and directly lay on the ground.
With a swift motion, he turned over and pressed down on Chloe Grant.
Chloe felt it... the opponent was attacking!
Sowhere a light flickered, and Chloe watched as Matthew Morgan pulled her up, wrapped his arm around her waist, tilted their bodies, and dodged the incoming knife.
Chloe stared blankly at his profile, montarily dazed.
The light disappeared again, and Matthew Morgan directly lifted her into his arms, suddenly saying, "Kick forward with force!"
Chloe complied, and soon felt her foot hit sothing, followed by a muffled grunt.
Matthew then set her down and pushed Chloe aside.
Chloe’s body was sowhat out of control, and she seed to hear the sounds of fighting nearby... And before she could lose her balance, Matthew caught her and at the sa ti lifted her up, "Kick!"
Chloe complied, using all her strength!
This ti, not only was there a grunt, but also the sound of soone falling to the ground.
Then there was a mont of silence, and Chloe heard a ghostly voice, "Go!"
Simultaneously, Matthew held her in his arms, pressing down on half of her head.
This position was maintained for a long ti.
So long that Chloe thought ti had stopped like this.
It was only when she felt a wet sensation in her palm did she realize sothing was wrong.
Chloe instinctively struggled, "Are you... hurt?"
No response.
She asked again, "Are they... gone?"
"Yes," Matthew responded in a low voice, "You should go back too."
He led Chloe to the door but said nothing.
Outside, it was pitch black, and Matthew handed her a phone, "Turn on the flashlight and go back yourself."
Chloe took the phone and turned on the flashlight.
But...
Instead of pointing the light toward the road ahead, she shone it on Matthew...
Because of the close distance, Chloe could clearly see the long knife wound on Matthew’s arm.
It was deep... still bleeding.
Chloe frowned instantly, the first thought in her mind was that he must be injured because of her.
"I told you to go back."
Matthew said coldly, turning the phone’s light toward the road ahead.
He pushed Chloe, but instead of leaving, she squeezed inside.
Using the phone’s light, Chloe familiarly walked to the side and turned on all the lights in the living room.
All three villas had the sa layout, so Chloe wasn’t unfamiliar.
And as the bright lights flooded the living room, Chloe was dumbfounded by the ss she saw.
In her mind, everything that happened in the dark replayed.
Chloe suddenly felt as if she was transported back in ti to an ancient era.
However, she quickly ca to her senses, the key now was Matthew!
"I’ll take you to the hospital," Chloe turned back and said.
But Matthew waved her off, "No need, you go back."
As he turned, Chloe saw there was also a wound on his back.
Just how many injuries did he sustain?
She stepped forward and grabbed Matthew’s uninjured hand, "I’m calling an ambulance right now!"
"I told you, go back." Matthew pulled his hand away, his expression cold, "Didn’t you understand what I said this afternoon?"
"You’re my uncle! Should I just watch you get hurt and do nothing?" Chloe retorted without thinking.
"Just like the ho invasion two years ago, you were clearly injured, yet you didn’t seek proper treatnt! You just insist on wearing out your body like this, do you think you’re invincible? I’m giving you two choices, either I call an ambulance or I’ll drive you to the hospital!"
