"I...I’m not here because of work." Chloe Grant quickly shook her head, repeatedly explaining, "I really am not here because of work!"
Seemingly afraid of any misunderstanding, Chloe instinctively raised her hand to show, "Work is tough, but Molly who trained is really nice, and she taught a lot. I’m happy to have this internship opportunity."
This was the truth from her heart.
Who isn’t tired!
She’s so young, what’s wrong with being tired? More exhaustion ans more things to learn.
"Hmm." Matthew Morgan nodded.
Chloe let out a sigh, "Having a chat, why is it so exhausting..."
Although Chloe whispered very softly, since she was so close to Matthew, he naturally heard her.
The latter frowned slightly but hid it expressionlessly.
The two fell into another awkward silence.
It was like a dead loop...
"Oh, you little heartless one, you finally decided to show up?"
Just then, Lucas Morgan walked in from outside, nonchalant, took off his sunglasses, and tossed them onto the coffee table.
Chloe glared at him, "Who’s heartless! I’ll give you one chance to reorganize your words!"
As she spoke, she had already raised her fist.
Lucas imdiately surrendered, retreating, "I was wrong. My dear grandma, you’ve finally co, making the old house shine with your presence!"
Chloe rolled her eyes, snorted coldly, "Rember to speak nicely."
"Yes, yes, yes, you’re beautiful, everything you say is right."
Jodie Cooper walked out just in ti to see the playful banter between Chloe and Lucas.
At the sa ti, Lucas’s phone rang, and he stepped outside to take the call.
"Cloudy, where are you?"
Lucas imdiately started looking for the little kid.
"I’m here!" The little kid, still seemingly eating sothing in the dining room, shouted indistinctly.
Lucas walked straight to the dining room.
Once Lucas left, only Jodie and Chloe remained in the living room.
Chloe sat there, slumped, like a defeated rooster.
Completely dejected.
Jodie helplessly walked over, sat next to her, and put an arm around Chloe’s shoulders.
"Actually, I’m really curious. Between you and Lucas... you used to like him, and later he confessed too... even though there’s no love-hate drama between you, there are emotional entanglents. But see, you two were just horsing around so naturally, without any awkwardness."
Very natural, Chloe was just being herself.
"Tell , how do you guys do it?" Jodie asked Chloe.
Chloe shook her head, "I don’t know either..."
"I’ve been like this with Lucas ever since we were kids."
Although there was an awkward phase when Lucas confessed, once it was over, it felt natural again.
Getting along has always been harmonious.
"Then why can’t you interact with Matthew the way you do with Lucas?" Jodie asked.
Chloe couldn’t answer...
Jodie sighed, "You see, you already started the topic. You said that the recent fried dough sticks weren’t tasty, and you even asked him if he liked eating them, and he said they’re okay. So you just continue the questions, like, besides fried dough sticks, is there any other breakfast he particularly likes... then from breakfast, talk about lunch, keep going, and you’ll get to know what he likes, right?"
Such a simple conversation topic.
Jodie looked at Chloe, "Why is flirting with a guy so hard for you?"
"Then you try flirting?" Chloe instinctively responded.
Jodie directly gave her a flick on the forehead, "Do you have brains?"
