Chloe Grant cried for quite a while before noticing the person beside her, mouth agape, face full of tears, and when she turned to look at the person next to her, she forgot to close her mouth, her eyes filled with shock.

Lucas Morgan sighed helplessly and reached out to close Chloe Grant’s mouth. "You’re such a grown-up, yet every ti you cry, your mouth opens so wide. It’s ugly."

He criticized without holding back.

Chloe Grant didn’t respond imdiately, still looking at him like she’d seen a ghost. Almost a minute passed before she realized and closed her open mouth, only to open it again. After a few seconds, she retorted discontentedly, "What do you know?"

She reached out to grab a tissue, but the tissue box was on the table quite far away, and Chloe Grant’s arms were too short to reach it.

She tried several tis, but just couldn’t get it.

Lucas Morgan watched from the side, amused. He reached out and easily brought the tissue box over, placing it in front of Chloe Grant.

Chloe Grant pulled out a tissue and wiped her tears haphazardly.

"Why are you crying like this?" Lucas Morgan’s joking expression faded.

"Why else? My dad called and scolded harshly, that..." She instinctively started to vent but suddenly stopped.

Chloe Grant’s actions of wiping her face also paused.

She turned her head to look at Lucas Morgan beside her, but the next second, she imdiately shifted her gaze and casually wiped her face, tossing the tissue into the trash.

The original venting turned into just three words, "It’s nothing."

Those three words, Chloe Grant said very softly, with a hint of helplessness.

What she wanted to say was, "Lily Grant slandered her," but Chloe Grant knew that if she ntioned Lily Grant in front of Lucas Morgan, Lucas Morgan’s first reaction would be to defend Lily Grant.

And he would, like her father, scold her as well.

At that mont, Chloe Grant felt very desolate and pitiful.

The two most important n in her life were both on another woman’s side.

They would heartlessly hurt her for that woman.

Thinking of this, her eyes reddened again.

Chloe Grant quickly blinked, looking up to control her tears.

To cover it up, she casually threw out, "Why ask ? You should ask yourself, coming here right after dinner?"

"Bringing fruit, of course," Lucas Morgan replied, nodding towards the small bowl of fruit he placed on the table.

All peeled and ready.

Chloe Grant, when she gets lazy, is really beyond hope.

Bananas, she doesn’t eat because of the peel.

Oranges, she won’t touch because peeling them is a hassle.

She doesn’t eat kiwis since the skin is hard to peel.

The elderly lady of the Morgan family was afraid Chloe Grant wouldn’t eat fruit and miss out on nutrition, so she always ordered Lucas Morgan to prepare and deliver the fruits peeled.

Chloe Grant naturally picked up a piece of the prepared orange, tilting her head and seriously checking if all the white fibers were removed.

Oh, not only is she lazy, but also troubleso.

Lucas Morgan reached out and tapped Chloe Grant on the head, "How could there be such a little monster like you?"

"Why hit !" Chloe Grant turned, glaring at him, "Be careful I’ll tell grandma I didn’t eat any fruit this whole week."

After completing her inspection and deciding the orange was peeled well, Chloe Grant put it in her mouth.

Lucas Morgan watched and laughed directly.

Every ti he saw Chloe Grant eating fruit, with that lazy yet picky look, he found it funny.

How could there be such a kid.

Lucas Morgan pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, took one, and put it to his mouth, not lighting it but holding it between his lips.

At the sa ti, he stood up from his seat and started walking out.

Halfway out, he suddenly turned back, "Oh, I’m going to watch fireworks with Lily tonight."

Lucas Morgan’s words made Chloe Grant’s original action of eating fruit suddenly stop.

Fireworks...

are her favorite to watch.
