Matthew Morgan’s phone was casually placed on the table, with his back to the phone and out of the cara’s view.
Upon hearing the other person’s words, Matthew turned around, leaned on the table, and bent over, his handso face facing the cara with sharp eyes, he countered:
"What part of her has anything to do with you?"
"NO!"
"Then shut up!"
The other person indeed shut up.
Internally, they were grumbling, anyone who didn’t know might think this man was being protective.
In reality, though?
This man was only protective of one person.
The man in the video waved his hand, indicating to drop the topic.
His expression beca sowhat serious, saying, "I just got the ssage. You guessed right; those people did investigate your return date. Initially, I thought your arrangents were unnecessary. Now..."
The man shook his head, "Indeed, nothing Elder Morgan does is done in vain."
What he was referring to was, of course, the issue of the flight timing.
Matthew Morgan staged a play, secretly returning a day early, but had a stand-in use his identity to return the next day.
It was a ruse to handle affairs abroad, a red herring.
At that ti, Matthew didn’t consider the significant turmoil this early return would bring to Chloe Grant’s life.
To be honest, he wasn’t entirely upright; he was even thankful.
Thankful that it was him that night, not soone else.
However...
Thinking of Chloe’s expression just now, he felt a pang of guilt.
"Is there anything else? Speak up!"
Matthew’s tone was noticeably irritated.
The other person sensed this and, not daring to waste words, directly started discussing the developnts of overseas matters.
...
After leaving the Morgan Group, Chloe wandered aimlessly on the streets.
Only when she was exhausted did she call a cab back to the old house.
She had intended to return to the villa, but when she thought of Lily...
Chloe felt a headache coming on.
To this day, she still didn’t know what Lily truly wanted!
In the end, she returned to the old house.
Arriving back, she surprisingly found Mr. Morgan, Granny Morgan, and Lucas sat together in the living room, chatting and laughing.
Since childhood, having an outstanding brother made Lucas rebellious, doing all sorts of "bad things" to get noticed, which greatly worried the two elder Morgans.
Every ti, after a few words, Mr. Morgan would be so angry he’d want to hit him!
Especially in recent years, Lucas independently started a gaming studio, stubbornly refusing to work at the Morgan Group, which strained his relationship with his father.
Now, on such a leisurely afternoon, seeing them enjoying afternoon tea and chatting was truly a rare sight.
"Sis, you’re back!"
Oh, and Lily was there too.
She was the first to notice Chloe, beaming a truly sweet smile at her.
"Chloe, co here." Isabella Gray’s smile widened upon seeing Chloe, and she patted the seat beside her.
Chloe walked over and sat down.
Lucas had already picked up an orange from the fruit bowl and started peeling it.
Lily watched, smiling with satisfaction.
She just ntioned how tasty the oranges were.
"I have so gossip about Uncle Morgan, want to hear it?" Isabella Gray whispered mysteriously to Chloe.
When she laughed, there were so wrinkles at the corners of her eyes, but it added a natural beauty.
A beauty of the years!
"Gossip about Uncle Morgan?" Chloe was genuinely curious.
She had never heard any gossip about Matthew Morgan since she was young.
