So days later, Patricia was preparing to et the investor. Roman had been discharged the day after he woke up, but they had barely seen each other since then. Although she wanted to know how he was faring, she told herself she wouldn’t be the one to talk to him first, not after he humiliated her like that. After everything she did, he didn’t even say thank you.

She didn’t need his gratitude; she was just angry that he treated her like crap after waking up. The nice side of him had completely disappeared, replaced by the jerk she thought she had left behind. She didn’t care, once she got her divorce papers, he could do whatever he wanted, for all she cared.

’Miss Patricia, my boss will et you at the café in thirty minutes. There has been a delay in his schedule,’ the voice said over the phone, leaving her disappointed and unsure of what to say. She had almost reached the café they were supposed to et at, and they were just telling her this?

’I would have appreciated it if you told earlier, but it’s fine,’ she replied, clearly annoyed but careful not to sound too upset. She couldn’t afford to lose the investor.

’We are so sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for understanding,’ the voice on the other end apologized, easing Patricia’s mood slightly. At least they knew how to say sorry, it would have been irritating to deal with arrogant people on top of everything else.

Tapping her phone screen, she checked the ti and saw she had only an hour left before she needed to check back into the hospital. Dr. Miss had only given her two hours, even though she begged for more. Patricia had agreed confidently, thinking she would be done by now. But with the investor coming in thirty minutes late, she knew she wouldn’t make it in ti.

Still, knowing Dr. Miss, she likely wouldn’t check into the hospital until after 12 p.m., so Patricia figured she could still risk it.

She drove to the café, parked in the lot, and went inside to wait. She noticed the café was close to the hospital, which she found suspicious. But since she didn’t even know who the investor was, it could have just been a coincidence. Overthinking it wouldn’t help.

Twenty minutes into sitting, she ordered a hot coffee, occasionally glancing out the window, looking for an investor she didn’t even recognize. The first eting had been with his manager, and she had sohow convinced him to let her et the boss.

anwhile, just across the street, Kay sat watching her, dialing a number as he kept his eyes on Patricia, who was completely unaware of his presence.

When the call connected, he divulged, ’Miss Patricia is at a café. Should I keep an eye on her?’

’Yes,’ Roman replied, his tone indifferent until sothing struck him, prompting him to ask, ’What café?’

’The one close to the hospital. Your mother’s forr café, the one you and Mr. Syres frequented a lot,’ Kay responded, and the silence that followed was deafening. He had intentionally held back that information at first, knowing how much that café ant to Roman. And there was only one person she could be waiting for there. He didn’t need to spell it out, Roman would figure it out himself.

’Don’t let her out of your sight,’ Kay heard Roman order before the call ended.

’Oh, here cos the host of the day,’ Kay muttered as he watched Syres walk into the café, already dreading the chaos that was about to unfold.

Inside the café, Patricia was growing increasingly impatient. She glanced at her wristwatch and was about to give up when she raised her head, only for her eyes to land on Syres. Her frown deepened. He was walking directly toward her, his gaze fixed on her with a grim smile.

"Why now, of all places?" She groaned under her breath, turning her eyes away. She hoped pretending not to know him would make him walk past, but deep down, she knew Syres was too persistent for that.

"Did I make you wait too long?" Syres asked as he reached her table, smiling in a way that only irritated her further.

"I wasn’t waiting for you. I have a guest. Please find another table," she replied, her tone indifferent as she stared at him.

Shaking his head, he smiled again and took a seat, prompting her to shout, "Syres! I am warning you, leave now and don’t cause trouble for !" Her voice, drawing unwanted attention from nearby tables.

"You are not as smart as I thought," he mocked, making her frown in offense until he pulled out his phone and placed it in front of her. She raised her eyebrows, confused, as he gestured toward the screen and said, "Check it."

She hesitated, watching him for a mont before finally looking at the phone.

*Manager: Miss Patricia has been inford of the delay, sir.*

The ssage made her eyes widen. She looked back at him, stunned.

"You are Mr. Graymoor?!" She blurted, pointing at him in disbelief.

"Who does business without knowing the face of their partner?" He said mockingly as he retrieved his phone and tucked it back into his pocket.

Now that soone had pointed it out, she realized she really needed to start paying more attention to people and not just their health. It was just like how she hadn’t asked Collin for his surna, assuming she would get it at the marriage registry. She often ignored little details, thinking they weren’t important. She hadn’t cared much about Syres either, after all, she had Zara, so she felt she didn’t need to do much.

"I just didn’t feel the need to," she muttered, her face flushed with embarrassnt.

"You should start paying attention to people. You could have been kidnapped easily," he said, shaking his head at her.

Patricia found it strange. She rembered that Graymoor had been one of the nas listed as part of the family invited to the yacht, but it was said that only one family mber had attended. She hadn’t thought much of it at the ti because she hadn’t been interested. But now that she recalled the na of her investor was also Graymoor, she realized she should have known.

So... the only family mber on the yacht was Syres?
