Chapter 65: WHERE IS MUM?
Ever since the incident that had transpired in the morning, Astrid had not been in her right mind.
Manny also kept pestering her and using it to blackmail her and even used her to do so of her jobs.
Astrid can’t help but hide her tears from everyone, diverting all of her attention to the computer because of her excess workload.
Manny had refused to do her part and because of the video Astrid can’t help but do her job for her.
She was still lost in her typing, "Aren’t you going ho?" she heard the familiar voice that finally drew her head up.
"Julian?" she called a bit startled at how he stood before her nonchalantly.
She gulped down in silence at the feeling of how Stephan had forced her to the car and kissed her.
She felt so guilty that she had kissed another man who was not Julian.
"I... I... will go ho," she answered gulping down nervously and Julian squinted his gaze.
"Are you still going to your.... You know?" She squinted her eyes and then jumped up.
"Oh, I didn’t..." she checked her phone, and then her eyes widened.
"Oh my I need to leave now," she let out as she began packing her bag.
"It’s already late, why were you still working by this ti?" Julian asked as he placed his arm on her desk.
"That is because I am busy with the work given to ," she let out with an eye roll.
"You sure you wouldn’t want
to go with you?" he asked again but she moved out of her seat not responding to him, but he gripped her hand, stopping her from moving.
He felt so spark jolt his body that he needed to let go of her instantly, he was stunned by this.
"I will go myself, why get
a car if I can’t drive around?" She threw him a question he couldn’t respond to.
"Fine... but co ho early," he let out, "I have a eting now.." he added.
She shot him a small smile until the guilt of kissing soone else began eating her deep in her heart.
She walked toward her car and then drove off. She had planned to go to her dad’s today. She wanted to force him to show her where her mum was.
Finally, she pulled up in front of her mansion and the security by the gate was stunned to see her in a new car.
"Wow!! Welco Ma’am you look different," he asserted and Astrid let out a small smile.
Astrid approached her forr residence, her footsteps hesitant.
As she reached the living room, a sudden urge to stop overca her.
"Ma’am... we promise to make Mr. Logan despise her if you cooperate with us," a voice drifted from within.
Astrid’s curiosity piqued, and she peeked through the door.
There she saw Mattie’s mother, Tonia, sitting alongside Mattie and Astrid’s own family.
Her family knelt on the ground, thanking Tonia profusely and Astrid’s heart sank, her mind reeling, she felt so embarrassed seeing this.
Not able to bear it within again, she burst through the door, as all eyes turned to her.
"Speaking of the devil..." Mattie said, a sly smile spreading across her face.
Astrid’s rage simred, her eyes locking onto Mattie. "What is happening here?" Astrid demanded, her voice firm.
Tonia rose from her chair, her gaze piercing. "Does your newfound title give you the audacity to question ?" Tonia retorted.
Astrid’s face flushed, her anger boiling."I am not being disrespectful..." she began, but a sudden smack on her face silenced her.
Astrid’s eyes welled up with tears as she stared at her father in shock. "Don’t dare speak to them in that tone," her father reprimanded, he just slept her in front of Mattie.
"They are the reason you enjoy your current lifestyle." Josh’s voice thundered.
Astrid’s lips trembled, her eyes burning. "Mr. Daniel, for the sake of our collaboration, please address your daughter’s attitude," Tonia advised.
Tonia’s gaze t Astrid’s, a flicker of emotion dancing in her eyes.
For a mont, Astrid sensed a glimr of empathy But it vanished, replaced by Tonia’s icy deanor.
Astrid’s heart was heavy, she turned to leave.
She shook her head off it and then glanced at Mattie, "No one can take the place in Julian’s heart... if I need..."
Tonia leaned closer to Astrid, "To end that person’s life I would... but I wouldn’t because of a bad reputation, so do what you have to do and get the heck out of Julian’s life."
Astrid stood speechless, was she just threatened with her life? Astrid felt tears slip down her eyes, she could hold down those tears, how co she was crying freely in front of Tonia?
"Good night, send my regards to Julian," Tonia stord out of the living room leaving Astrid to crumble in another pain.
She has no ti to wallow in her pain in front of the so-called enemy she has in front of her.
Julian doesn’t love her, he made it clear that he loves Mattie, so what the heck is pushing Mattie to act like a bitch?
She finds her way toward her forr bedroom leaving the three lads stunned by her outburst "Where are you going?"
Josh asked tagging along with his wife and daughter but Astrid’s leg was faster, so she got into her room and locked the door, leaving them to bang on her door.
"What? Aren’t you going back to your villa?" Josh asked from outside the door but She didn’t respond and just went to her safe spot.
Her room was scattered and she knew they would have rummaged here trying to find important things from her.
Father and daughter are both obsessed with gambling so she understands their plight.
She scattered everything and there it was, her bank book which had all the money he saved all her life.
She pulled it out of the hiding spot and embraced it tightly. She had planned to use this money for her mum’s surgery, her eyes t with the mirror as she stared at an old antique she had kept at the table and taken care of so well.
She sighed and picked it up, her phone also resting beside it. She was very sure they would tamper with her phone but still took it anyway.
She sighed and then stared at her reflection, "Do this for Mum.." she whispered and then walked out of her room
Where she t the three of them standing in anticipation waiting for her.
"You can’t leave Julian no matter what," was the first word Josh had said to her before his eyes t with what she held.
"Who is this for?" he asked as he pulled her hands roughly.
Astrid scoffed and snatched her grip from his firm grasp, " Aren’t you going to boost your stupid company with their collaboration?"
"You ca... it ans you have sothing you had co for," Astrid heart shattered piece.
"Dad, you need to act calmly with Her since she is now the wife of Julian Logan." Astrid felt like slapping Nadine but still managed to hold herself.
"I am your daughter too!" Astrid yelled her heart oozing in pain, "You don’t have to sell
anyti you feel like it!"
"Sell? You are living your best life with Julian, seeing how nervous they look and even wanting a collaboration proves that Julian is becoming closer to you."
"Dad?"
"You are now his secretary, you should leak so information to us,"
Astrid scuffed and then pulled out her bank book filled with money, then stretched it to her father.
Josh snatched it off her hands happily as he stared at the huge amount of money, "Mum... hand her over back to the hospital." he squinted his gaze and Astrid glared at him.
"Tell
where the hell she is! And leave her treatnt to !" Josh smirked, still staring at the.
"You seem to have gotten your hands on so much money," She snorted at this.
"Dad! Tell
where mum is!" she exclaid again and then Josh looked up at her.
"Fibra Clinic... wonder if she is still clinging for hope or has given up!" Astrid’s heart thumped.
"What? You pulled her out of the hospital and took her to a clinic where she wouldn’t be cared for?"
"Yeah, it’s not like you have the money for her surgery anymore." Astrid’s heart shattered.
"You!" It was too hard for her to talk, as she found her way to her car not minding how many tis her father had called her.
All she can do is find her way to her mother now, with a great hope she doesn’t lose the only one she loves so much.
