Chapter 270: REAL MATTIE

Mattie slipped silently through the hospital corridors, her footsteps muffled by the soft beeping of machines and the hushed whispers of nurses she looked around hoping no one saw her.

She wore a crisp white mask over her face, and her eyes covered in her glasses.

As she approached Stephan’s ward, she slowed her pace, her eyes scanning the room hoping she wasn’t caught.

The curtains were partially drawn, casting a dim glow over the space. Stephan lay motionless in his bed, his chest rising and falling with slow, steady breaths.

Mattie’s eyes narrowed as she crept closer to Stephan’s bedside. Her hatred for him seed to pulse through her veins like a dark, viscous liquid.

She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small syringe, the needle glinting in the faint light.

A creepy smirk on her face, "You want to marry

forever, right?" Mattie whispered, leaning further to him as she pushed the syringe blower to his eye.

"Then you will do that in heaven."

With a swift, precise motion, Mattie jabbed the needle into Stephan’s neck. His eyes snapped open, and he stared at Mattie with a mixture of shock and terror. "Wh... what are doing?" He struggled to ask as his grip around the syringe pulled it out.

He struggled to raise his hands, but they felt heavy as if weighed down by invisible chains.

"What...what did you do to ?" Stephan gasped, I’m in pain now staring at the syringe.

Mattie’s smile was a thin, cruel line. "I am killing you," she answered, not mixing her words.

Stephan eyes widened he threw the syringe on the ground, "Ma...Mattie you bitch! Killing

the sa way you had just killed Astrid’s mum." He forced out and Mattie stood up backing away.

" Yes! And I would do so to end you." she laughed evilly as she watched Steohan struggle for his breath.

" Ma... Mattie I will get you." And that was the last word, his eyes snapped shut as he took in his last breath.

Stephan rolled around on the bed his fist gripping the duvet so tight, "No! Mattie! I will get you!" He yelled and he jolted upright in bed, gasping for breath.

He looked around wildly, taking in the familiar surroundings of his hospital room.

His hand moved to his neck as he swallowed hard, there was no tar e if Mattie around.

"It’s a nightmare! A dream," Stephan told himself, his heart still racing.

But the mory of Mattie’s twisted smile lingered, haunting him like a specter. He took his bottle from the table next to him, gulping it down at once.

Just when he thought it was all over, the door swung open and Mattie walked right inside. He jumped up startled seeing her emptying the water in his mouth all over the ground.

"What are you doing here?" he asked in fright and Mattie smirked, moving toward him dropping a basket of fruit.

"I am still your wife, why?" She replied with a huge grin but Stephan tried shifting back as he looked around wondering if she was with any syringe.

"Why do you look so out of place? Did you have a nightmare that I killed you?" his eyes flickered up stunned at her words.

"So... you want to kill ?" She scoffed, drawing a stool closer to him.

" Who wouldn’t? You caused

scar Stephan... nothing but scars,"

"You need to stay away from ," Stephan warned, his worries.

"Wow, seeing the almighty Stephan scared is so rare," she taunted. " Even though I want to kill you it wouldn’t be now "

"Why? Because your true self is about to reveal itself."

Mattie’s expression faltered, confusion etched on her face. "What are you talking about?" she asked.

Stephan’s jaw clenched. "Well, I am not listening to you this ti, Mattie. Whatever ga you are playing, I am not buying it"

" Fine, then maybe we should just get a divorce," she spat.

Stephan’s smile was icy, regret filled his eyes now.

"My mother should never have forced you to sign that agreent. But I am not giving you the satisfaction of granting you a divorce. You’ve used

enough, Mattie."

Mattie stood back up her hands folded against her chest.

"Really, but at least you benefited from it... Having my body every ti, why the regret now?"

Stephan broke into a deadly laughter, "Oh, please, Mattie. Julian’s already found evidence of your little secret. How did you kill Astrid’s mum, he had the evidence with him."

Mattie’s eyes widened in horror as she stumbled backward, her face pale.

"No...that’s not true...I didn’t kill her...you did! You helped, it isn’t supposed to be just ."

Stephan’s smile grew wider. "Julian’s got proof, Mattie, and I have got all the evidence I need to take you down. You’re going to pay for what you have done."

" No! We will go down together, not just

Stephan!" She cried out this ti, fear creeping into her heart.

"Well that is the difference between us both, I have finally accepted my punishnt but you... it will take a little ti for you to do that because you are so spoiled, to even know all the things you have been doing all these while is wrong."

Mattie’s face contorted in rage as she turned, "I need to explain things to Julain... no Julain can’t believe you, l with that she ran out of the hospital ward.

But as she erged into the bright sunlight, she was t with a barrage of cara flashes and reporters shouting her na.

"Mattie, have you finally co out of hiding? Are you responsible for finishing what you haven’t done in the beginning?"

Mattie stumbled, her eyes wild with fear. "No...no...I didn’t kill her...I swear!" She fell to the ground.

"I didn’t... I need to make Julain know this, I won’t leave Julain for Astrid, he is mine and would also be mine!" She scread trying to cover her face.

But it was too late. The damage was done. Mattie’s face was plastered on every screen, her reputation in tatters, no one was even there to save her.

anwhile, Astrid sat in front of the TV, sipping her juice and smiling as she watched the chaos unfold until the TV turned off sl. She glanced at Julian who had turned off the TV and sat beside her.

"Hey! I am enjoying my show!" She scread ensting to collect the remote from him but she refused, Instead he allowed her to lay on him in the process as he kissed her lips now making her stop the struggle.

"Finally got my ti now?" She rolled her eyes and sat back down picking up her juice again.

"When are you going to expose her?" he asked, further and Astrid’s smile grew wider. "Oh, soon enough. But for now, let’s just enjoy the show."

Julian draws nearer to her a sly smile spreading across his face. "I found out sothing juicy," he said, his voice low and conspiratorial.

Astrid’s eyes sparkled with interest as she turned to him. "What is it?" she asked, interested now.

Julian leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper.

"Tonia’s real daughter..." he trailed off, watching as Astrid’s eyes widened in shock.

"Have you found her?" Astrid asked, her voice trembling with excitent.

Julian nodded a triumphant smile on his face. "Yes, I have."

Astrid’s gasp was audible as she slumped back in her chair, her eyes fixed on Julian’s face. "This changes everything," she whispered.

Suddenly, her expression turned cold and calculating. "If you’ve seen her, you must make sure Tonia never finds out. She can never see her now,"

"Well, speaking about that it wasn’t easy to get her but what’s worse is that she is dead." Astrid eyes widened at this.

"Wh... what?" She asked and Julian took a deep breath.

"Stephan did.." Astrid clamped her hands over her mouth as her eyes widened.

"The video that lady had sent to you, didn’t contain the video of your mum alone.." He could see that Astrid had begun to hyperventilate.

He grabbed her hands, caressing her face. "I had mistaken Mattie for soone I should have cared for, I should have noticed from when she began bullying you but I was so stupid."

"Ju.... Julian. What do you an? Mattie is a constant killer?"

"Stephan isn’t a doctor but the one who takes life, and it’s all orchestrated by Mattie," Astrid’s hands trembled.

"I do notice anyone who cos close to

is gone by the next day, but what I didn’t know was that she would plan with Stephan and have them killed.." He looked down sadly.

"That was how crazy she is obsessed with ," Astrid’s eyes widened as she recalled when Stephan attacked her in the hospital. So he did want to kill her?

"Julian... if Mattie is like this, don’t you think..." She stopped in shock.

"Grandfather!" She called in shock, " Yeah.. you are right... Your granddad being in the hospital is Tonia’s fault also and if we are not careful Mattie might do the sa to Zach because she is now working with Tonia."
