Chapter 235: ANYTHING FOR HER

Astrid’s body ached as she trudged through the front door, the weight of the day’s revelations bearing down on her like a physical force.

She suddenly stopped on her track leaving him stunned as he also stopped walking.

"I need to go to Rowan," she announced, turning back to the door about to find her way out but Julain was quick to stop her.

"No, Astrid. We are not going to Rowan."

Astrid’s face twisted in frustration, ne gloating at Julian "Why not? He is the main reason why I began to find out more truth, you never did anything to find it out for ." Julian sighed trying to grab her hands but she slapped it off.

"The hospital footage? Have you found anything about it?" she asked and he was out of words she nodded her head with a bitter smile.

"Heard you are powerful, so why is that footage so hard for you to find? Or do you already know that one of the family mbers of your lover is involved?" Julian shook his head as his jaw clenched, his frustration evident. "Astrid, please..."

"Do you not want

to find out about my dad because you’re afraid of what I will discover? You can’t beat the fact that your wife is the daughter of a murderer?"

Julian sighed again for the tenth ti, his hands brushing through his hair, his shoulders sagging in defeat, frustrated at how he couldn’t even form a word.

"Now! You can’t talk! The mother of your ex might be involved! What am I even saying? She is your best friend, mum!"

"Astrid, I don’t care what your father did. I love you, not your family’s history, whatever happens between the adults it’s their fault, not ours."

But Astrid was too far gone to listen. She pushed Julian away, her hands shaking with anger.

"I don’t believe your words! My father is a monster! My foster father is no different, my mother lied to

till death! And you’re just like them. You don’t care about

or my feelings."

Julian’s face fell, his eyes filling with a deep sadness. "Astrid, please don’t say that. I am trying my best here..."

"Trying your best! I am being unreasonable right?" Julian shook his head moving closer but she shifted back.

"I am going crazy! I am not like the people you grew up with! I am filled with trauma that will never heal!" she cried out.

"So, please stay away from ." with that she turned and ran, dashing up the stairs to her room. She slamd the door shut behind her, leaning against it to catch her breath.

Her eyes shut, she took in a deep breath, sliding down the door slowly, Josh’s words ca flooding back, and Astrid’s world ca crashing down around her.

Her father was a liar, a monster and to top it all he is dead, Her mother had cheated, making her an embarrassnt, she is just an orphan living by the grace of an opportunity.

The tears Astrid had been holding back finally broke free, streaming down her face as she rested her head on her knees. She cried until she was exhausted, her body wracked with sobs.

Outside her door, Julian stood frozen, his heart heavy with sorrow. Over and over again, she always goes through pain and he can’t even help her.

He wanted to reach out to her, to comfort her, but he knew she wouldn’t let him.

After what felt like an eternity, Julian finally spoke up, his voice low and gentle, finding every ans not to irritate her."Astrid, are you calm now? Can I co inside?"

There was a pause, and for a mont, Julian wondered if Astrid would even respond. But then, her voice ca, tight with emotion. "Go away, Julian. I don’t want to see you."

Julian’s heart sank, but that wasn’t pushing him away, he also sat on the ground with his back now against the door.

"Astrid, I know I am not the best at showing emotions and don’t even know how to comfort you." he took a deep breath, trying to rethink his words before speaking out.

"I have always been cold, and distant. But that’s because I have never had anyone to care about before. I lived as a rich, spoiled, and bossy human."

Julian’s voice paused, hoping she was listening to him, "Nor even my parents could get

to show emotion, not even the ex you always think has more space in my heart than you." he smiled at this, he had noticed how she would always get irritated hearing anything about Mattie.

"But since I t you, Astrid, everything has changed. I feel happy when you are happy, and I curse myself when I see you in pain. I now share your emotions and never judge you for whatever I hear." Astrid on the other end sat calmly listening to his words.

"I promised to make you happy again, but I am new at this. I don’t know how to plead with a lady to calm down. I am learning, bit by bit, and I promise to be good at it." he smiled at his reaction.

"Who would have thought, there would co a day where I would be scared to move close to my woman?" he rested his head on the door, his eyes shut.

"As long as I am near you, I am never exhausted, seeing you with

brings delight to my cold heart, while hearing you ntion another man brings disgust and jealousy." Astrid looked back and snorted.

"Hearing that sound now ans I can get to you now right?" He waited for her response, his heart thumping in his chest.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Astrid’s voice ca, soft and tentative.

"Julian?"

"Yes, Love?" Julian’s voice was barely above a whisper, his heart soaring with hope.

Astrid’s voice was hesitant, but Julian could sense the anger and pain slowly seeping out of her. "I... I need so ti, Julian. Can you give

that?"

Julian let out a grin, and he nodded, even though Astrid couldn’t see him. "Of course, Astrid. Take all the ti you need. I will be here, waiting for you."

Just then, Julian’s phone rang, shrill in the silence. He picked up, and Donald’s stern voice ca through.

"What did I just hear? Astrid is not a Daniel... How co? What truth have you found out?" Donald’s questions ca in series, but Julian just sighed effortlessly.

Donald didn’t have ti for patience. "If you can’t say anything, then fine. But is she doing okay? Does she know about this?"

Julian remained silent, and Donald continued to pepper him with questions. Finally, Julian relented, his voice low. "I am trying to make her fine."

Donald’s voice turned sharp, a warning edge to it. "Do you love her so much?"

Julian was shocked at this question and quickly nodded, even though Donald couldn’t see him. "Yes, I do."

Then Donald’s voice softened, a hint of warmth creeping in. "I will give you my blessing, but if I hear even a single complaint from her, you will lose her forever."

Julian accepted imdiately, his voice filled with emotion. "I love her, so much I will do anything to make her happy."

Donald’s voice turned serious once more. "I want you to find out more about her father, and protect her at all costs. I want a contract with your family in her na, and it would cost you every single property you have if you hurt her."

Julian nodded, his mind racing with determination. "I understand, test granddad, Thank you for your blessing."

"I don’t need your appreciation, I am only giving you my blessing because you are the only one she has left, in case I lose my life in the next few minutes."

"What?" Julian let out shock but Donald smirked, "Draft out the contract imdiately, without her notice, be fast about it." Donald hung up, leaving Julian to stare at his phone screen wondering what he ant.

Just then, Julian heard the door creaking open, he quickly stood up looking back to see Astrid standing outside her room, her eyes weak and her hands stretched out in a plea for a hug.

Julian’s heart lted, and he rushed toward her, sweeping her up from the ground.

Astrid’s voice was barely above a whisper. "I want you to treat

like a baby tonight."

Julian didn’t hesitate, cradling her in his arms and holding her close. "Anything for you, Astrid. Anything."
