Chapter 199: THE WEDDING SAGA

WEDDING DAY

The Adam’s mansion was a flurry of activity, with servants and wedding planners scurrying about, making last-minute preparations for Mattie’s big day.

But amidst all the chaos, Zach sat calmly, his expression unreadable. He seed lost in thought, his eyes fixed on so distant point.

Tonia’s voice echoed through the hallway, her words laced with frustration and worry. "Miles, where are you? Your sister’s getting married, and you’re nowhere to be found. Don’t you care about your family?"

Miles’ response was nonchalant, his voice dripping with indifference. "I’m with my best friend. Do I need to be there? It’s not like my presence is going to make a difference."

Tonia’s anger simred just below the surface, her voice trembling with rage. "Are you going to be like your father, too? You don’t care about

or our family, do you? You’re just going to abandon us like he did?"

Miles’ tone turned cold, his words cutting deep. "Mum, stop with the guilt trips. We both know the truth about our relationship. You’ve never been happy with , and I’ve never been good enough for you."

Before Tonia could respond, Miles hung up, leaving her seething. Her hands trembled as she clutched her phone, her lips pursed in anger.

"I will deal with you soon, Miles," she muttered to herself, her eyes blazing with fury. "Once Mattie is settled into the Logan household, I will make sure to take care of you."

Tonia took a deep breath, composing herself before entering Mattie’s room. Her daughter looked pale, with dark circles under her eyes.

She had just finished getting dressed by the stylist and looked beautifully exhausted.

Mattie had been acting strangely, and Tonia’s attempts to get her to open up had been t with silence.

Tonia’s expression softened as she approached Mattie. "You look beautiful in your dress, darling," she said, her voice filled with love and concern.

Mattie’s gaze t hers, but her eyes lacked their usual sparkle. Tonia’s heart ached with concern, but she didn’t push the issue. Instead, she sat beside Mattie, offering a comforting presence.

"What’s wrong, sweetie?" Tonia asked, her voice gentle. "You seem a little off today."

Mattie shrugged, her shoulders barely rising off the bed. "I am just nervous, I guess."

Tonia nodded, her eyes never leaving Mattie’s face. "It’s normal to feel nervous on your wedding day. But you know you can always talk to

about anything, don’t you?"

"Mum, you said you would take care of Astrid, but I haven’t seen any changes, so you think after getting married to Julian, he would love ?" She laughed at this as he pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Common, he loves you... he has a baby with you now, he wouldn’t dare do shit." Once you get married all you need to do is find a way to get Astrid out of his life." Mattie could only breathe out frustratedly.

Her hand wrapped around her tummy, "Stephan I am sorry," she thought, recalling the painful look Stephan had given to her at the thought of her getting married to him.

"Let’s go!" She announced, "It’s almost ti, this ti I made sure it’s going to get registered in court so.." she let out and Mattie smiled at this.

"Thanks, Mum," she mumbled.

"Sweetheart, I will make sure you get everything you want, all you just have to do is enjoy this world." Her mum let out, pulling her toward her.

"You are my one and only, and I will make sure you enjoy the life you are supposed to."

Even though Mattie is still scared of the truth she has found out about her relationship with her mum, she can’t help but be reassured about the love Tonia has for her.

They walked out of the room where they t Zach standing outside her room already.

"It’s almost ti for the wedding, and still you guys aren’t ready?" Zach asked and Tonia pulled her daughter backwards.

"You are her father, still you decided to make her feel sad on her day of joy."

"Maybe if she had done it in a way that had pleased

I wouldn’t have got mad, instead she made it in a way that made it look like we were the ones begging them," Zach announced and walked out, Mattie could only stare at her father from behind with fear racing in her heart.

Finally, their car pulled up in front of the courtroom and Becky along with Desmond and Donald were already waiting for them by the door.

The mont Mattie saw them she felt relief.

Even if Julian refused to attend with these people he would have no choice but to honor them.

"You ca late," Becky huffed, throwing dirty glares at mother and daughter.

"Good morning to you too," Tonia responded. Becky only snickered in return and walked into the court, her hands still wrapped around her husband’s arms.

Tonia glanced at Zach who seed distant, she took in a deep breath and Mattie caressed her mum’s arm noticing this.

They all walked into the courtroom, still quiet until Tonia looked around but her eyes couldn’t et Julian.

"Where is the groom? We are not going to get married without him present here," Tonia let out, and only then did Zach notice it.

"Yeah. Becky... where is your son?" Donald asked, looking confused.

"Well... he needed to appear in a eting this morning so he would be running late," Becky announced and Donald nodded his head in understanding.

Mattie’s eyes widened in alarm as the announcent was made. "Then we would have to wait for him then," they said, their voices lacing with indifference.

But Mattie’s anxiety increased. She frantically pulled out her phone and dialed Julian’s contact, her hands trembling with each passing mont.

As the phone rang, Mattie’s eyes darted towards her mother, Tonia, who was watching the scene unfold with a mixture of concern and annoyance. "Mum, he isn’t picking up," Mattie cried out, her voice laced with desperation.

Tonia’s gaze shifted towards Becky, Julian’s mother, who was seated across from them. "Becky, have you told your son not to co today?" Tonia asked, her tone tinged with accusation. "Why isn’t he appearing today in front of his future wife and choosing to have his eting today?"

Becky rolled her eyes nonchalantly, her expression a mask of indifference.

"The last ti I checked, I wasn’t there when the arrangent was made, so you don’t have to make it seem like I advised my son," she retorted.

Mattie’s hands trembled as she dialed Julian’s contact again. Finally, on the sixth ring, soone picked up.

"Julian! Why are you being an asshole? You should have been here already, waiting for ," Mattie accused, her voice shrill with anxiety.

But instead of Julian’s familiar voice, a sweet, lodic tone responded, "Well, it isn’t Julian, but Astrid. You don’t expect

to answer to a na that isn’t mine, do you?" Mattie’s hand clenched against the phone as she struggled to compose herself.

"Why are you with his phone again? He is supposed to..." Mattie’s words were cut short as the door swung open, and Stephan, Miles, and Ryan walked in, but there was no sign of Julian. Mattie’s face contorted in anguish.

"You bitch! Why isn’t he there with them?" Mattie spat, her eyes blazing with fury.

Astrid’s laughter echoed through the phone, sending shivers down Mattie’s spine.

"Your husband must have arrived then. Enjoy your wonderful wedding, cousin. I have a huge surprise for you,"

Astrid announced, before ending the call, leaving Mattie speechless and reeling with shock.
