Chapter 190: DON’T LEAVE

Astrid’s laughter echoed through the ward, her eyes fixed on Rowan’s serious expression.

She couldn’t believe what he had just said. She doubled over, her laughter turning into hysterical giggles.

She can’t believe this, Mattie is her sister? Not when she planned on making her pay for making her go through pain.

Rowan’s face scrunched up in concern. "Astrid, stop... this Listen to ."

But Astrid couldn’t stop. She laughed until tears stread down her face. Rowan tried to approach her, but she held up a hand, still chuckling.

"You’re joking, right?" she asked, wiping tears from her eyes. "You must have mistaken whatever crap you have been smoking."

Rowan’s expression turned solemn. "I am not joking, Astrid. And I am not mistaken." he asserted, trying to move closer.

"No! Never! My mum would never hide that truth from ! Mattie can’t be my sister!"

"Astrid, you are wounded, move carefully." Rowan was pleased trying to move around the IV stand with her.

"What kind of siblings hate each other at just a glance?"Astrid asked as laughter died down, replaced by a growing sense of unease.

She took more steps back, her eyes narrowing. "We can look for more facts but for now, I believe what you need most is..."

"Shut the hell up, Rowan! Mattie can’t be my sister! I can’t develop a soft spot for her! You need to get your facts straight."

Rowan took a step closer, his voice soft. "I’m sure that I..."

But Astrid cut him off, her voice rising. "Leave it, Rowan. You’re making

go crazy."

Rowan tried to approach her again, but Astrid’s anger boiled over. She scread, pulling out the IV from her arms.

"Ahhh!" she let out a piercing scream as she flipped the desk bed over. The sound echoed through the ward, attracting the attention of Donald and Julian imdiately.

They rushed into the room, finding Astrid in a state of fury. She was destroying the ward, overturning chairs and smashing equipnt.

Donald and Julian exchange a shocking gaze "Astrid, stop!" Donald shouted, trying to grab her arms.

But Astrid shook him off, her laughter becoming hysterical "You knew, didn’t you?" she spat, her voice venomous. "You all knew, and you didn’t tell ."

Julian tried to intervene, but Astrid turned on him, her fists flying. "You’re just as bad as they are!" she shouted.

"Hey, Astrid! What is going on?" Julian asked, still left in the world of dark.

The ward was in shambles, equipnt smashed and furniture overturned. Astrid stood in the center of the room, her chest heaving with exertion.

"You are all liars," she spat, "I don’t trust any of you. My mum wouldn’t keep much from !"

The room fell silent, the only sound was Astrid’s heavy breathing. Rowan took a step forward, his eyes filled with concern.

"Astrid, please... I am sorry, just forget what I just said... it never happened." Rowan let out already in regret for telling her this.

Julian pulled Rowan backward and moved toward Astrid, his whole goal in making her calm but she hurled the basket at him, yelling at the top of her lungs. "Get out! Get out of here!"

Julian ducked just in ti, the basket flying past his head. Having no other choice he quickly called for the doctor’s attention, his eyes fixed on Astrid’s frantic form.

"What did you do to her?" Julian demanded, turning on Rowan now not able to keep his anger in check anymore.

"That is none of your..." his words were left hanging when Julian’s fist collided with his face. "What did you say to her?"

Rowan stumbled back, his eyes wide with shock. He didn’t give a response which only enraged Julian further.

But before Julian could attack Rowan again, Donald intervened, grabbing Julian’s arm. "Stop, Julian... it’s not helping matters," he advised then turned to Rowan.

"You should leave if that’s what will calm Astrid down."

Rowan nodded, his eyes filled with sadness. He glanced at Astrid, then turned and walked away, leaving the chaos behind.

Julian turned his attention back to Astrid, who was still yelling and throwing things around the room. He approached her cautiously, trying not to startle her further.

"Astrid, stop. Please stop," he said, his voice soft and soothing. He reached out to her, but she slapped his hand away.

"Get away from !" she scread. "I hate you! I hate all of you!"

Julian’s expression remained calm and gentle. "Astrid, please listen to ," he said, his voice soft and soothing. "I am not going to hurt you."

But Astrid was beyond reason. She shook her head, her eyes flashing with anger. "You’re just like all the others," she spat. "You only care about yourself."

Julian took a step closer to her, despite her threats. "That’s not true, Astrid," he said. "I care about you deeply, yes I am crazy not to be aware of my feelings, your hands are bleeding, please..."

Astrid’s eyes narrowed, but Julian could see the faintest glimr of uncertainty in their depths. He took another step closer, his arms open wide.

"Astrid, please," he said. "Let

hold you. Let

comfort you."

Astrid’s face twisted in a snarl, but Julian could see the fear and uncertainty beneath. He pulled her into a tight embrace, holding her firm despite her struggles.

At first, Astrid fought against him, her fists pounding against his chest. But Julian held firm, whispering into her ear.

"Everything will be okay, Astrid," he said. "I’m here for you. I’ll protect you. You’re safe with ."

Slowly but surely, Astrid’s struggles weakened. She was still trembling with rage and fear, but Julian’s calm deanor was starting to rub off on her.

As she looked up at him, Julian could see the faintest glimr of trust in her eyes. He smiled gently, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

"I have got you, Astrid," he said.

Dr. Lee walked into the room, a look of concern on his face. "Mrs Logan, let’s get you back to bed, okay?"

Astrid nodded, still shaking. Julian helped her to the bed, holding her hand tightly.

As they sat her down, Astrid’s grip on Julian’s hand tightened. "Don’t leave ," she whispered, her eyes wide with fear.

Julian’s face softened. "I am not going anywhere, Astrid. I promise."

Dr. Lee smiled, nodding in approval as he helped her fix her IV.

Julian’s eyes never left Astrid’s face. He sat down beside her, holding her hand tightly.

Then, Astrid’s eyelids drooped, and she leaned into Julian’s shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close.

"I am here, Astrid," he whispered.
