Chapter 164: THE MUSEUM 2
"I am so glad we ca here today, Astrid," Donald said, patting Astrid’s hair as she proceeded explaining almost all the buildings they ca across while Mattie rolled her eyes.
"You’re not only talented, but you’re also passionate about what you do. That’s sothing to be truly proud of."
Astrid’s face glowed with happiness as she smiled up at her grandfather. "But how co you are familiar with the historical part?"
Astrid smiled as she told her grandfather, "I have been taking online classes in Historical Preservation and Architectural Design. I have always been fascinated by the way buildings can tell stories about the past."
Donald’s eyes lit up with pride. "That’s wonderful, Astrid! I had no idea you were pursuing your education again. You are going to make a fantastic architect like your mother one day."
"Yeah, yeah, Astrid’s a genius. Can we move on now?" Mattie let out annoyed.
Astrid shot Mattie a mock glare, but Grandfather Donald chuckled.
"Mattie, I think you could learn a thing or two from your sister. Why don’t you join us on this tour and see if you can pick up so interesting facts?"
Mattie shrugged, Granddad, I am a model, I don’t think I would need this, besides I am already established and not her."
"Hey! But the architect is also related to my work. It brings more gain to , as an architect coming from my own family."
The Gilbert are known for their building construction but architecture is their most used tool in their work.
Late Elizabeth had gained interest in archer ct from the kid because of this, which had made her grandfather have enough interest in her.
As they continued their tour, they ca across a small café tucked away in a corner of the museum.
Donald’s eyes sparkled at this. "Ah, let’s take a break and get so ice cream! My treat!" Astrid grinned. "That sounds like so much fun, Grandfather!"
Mattie perked up at the ntion of ice cream. "But I am on a diet... I..."
"Hey! It’s a treat from grand dad, you can always burn it when you get ho." Astrid cautioned her.
"Hey! It ain’t my fault I don’t want to take risks, and beco fat like soone." Mattie retorted in a mocking tone.
"Mattie!" Donald called, making her pout her lip, "Well Granddad, she can just watch why we enjoy our ti together then."
"Fine!" she let out with an eye roll.
As they sat down at a small table, Donald suggested they play a small ga,
"Why don’t we make it interesting? Whoever can co up with the most creative and historical fact about the building we’re in right now gets an extra scoop of ice cream!"
Astrid’s eyes lit up. "That sounds like a challenge! I’m so in!"
"Granddad! I am not good at that," she grumbled and Astrid butted in.
"You don’t need an extra scoop anyway so you can just be on the loose." Mattie puffed at this, not ready to be embarrassed.
"Then bring it on!"
Grandfather Donald chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusent as he watched them both bicker.
"Alright, alright, let’s get started! But rember, I am the judge, so make sure your facts are accurate!"
As they began to brainstorm, Donald was more than proud of them both. Even though Mattie wasn’t that good, she could still get so answers.
Just then Mr. Jerkins appeared at their table, looking concerned.
"Sir, I really must insist that you take it easy. You’ve been exerting yourself quite a bit today..."
Donald waved his hand dismissively. "Oh, nonsense, Jerkins! I’m fine. I’m just having the ti of my life with my grandkids. Don’t worry about , I’m perfectly happy."
Finally, after a few more gas and questions, Astrid rged as the winner even though Mattie was not the winner.
Donald bead with pride, his eyes shining with happiness. "I am just so proud of both of you. You are both talented and smart, and I’m so grateful to have you as my grandkids."
As they finished their ice cream and prepared to leave, Astrid leaned over and hugged her grandfather tightly.
"Thanks for today, Grandfather. This has been the best day ever."
Mattie nodded in agreent, a small smile on his face. "Yeah, thanks, Grandfather. This was kind of fun."
Grandfather Donald smiled, his eyes twinkling with joy. "Anyti, my dear grandkids. Anyti." he let out they got to their cars and he turned to them both.
"I am so proud of you both, Astrid I would like to invite you to start working in my company on Monday,"
Astrid eyes winded at this, "What?"
"Of course, out of all my grandkids, you are the one who went in line with my work line. Who knows you might be the one to continue my legacy when I die."
"What!" Mattie barked, "Mattie, you don’t have to feel bad, you will get your inheritance but don’t you think she would be the better one to get the chairman position?"
"Grandad, what about my mum? She knows you better than Astrid," Astrid could imdiately sense the anger in her.
"Granddad, you don’t have to say that... aunt should take over beside . I am fine being who I am right now." Donald nodded his head and patted her hair.
"You are just like your mother," she smiled at this, "See you on Monday," he got into the car and they both waved at him.
The mont his car disappeared Astrid turned about to leave but Mattie pulled her back roughly her fingernails digging deep into Astrid’s arm.
"Aww let .." But her long fingernails sipped deep, "You are just a lucky goose who got the chance to be in our family, don’t you dare cross your limit."
Ashe announced pushing Astrid back, "Hey that was rude! You did your crazy part in the morning and I didn’t care now this?"
"Yeah, you heard
right... if you don’t turn down whatever opportunity you get from grandfather, I will make sure you regret it."
"I am warning you seriously, to stay far from Julian, I have him now. If you dare co closer to us again, I will make sure you pass through hell more than you lose your mother."
