Chapter 121: FRIENDSHIP HUG

Desmond and Becky, hand in hand, rushed through the hospital’s sliding glass doors. The automatic doors swooshed open, revealing a flurry of activity within.

"Excuse , sir! Madam!" a nurse called out, attempting to intercept them.

But the mont she saw their faces, she stopped. They own almost the whole hospital. Being in trouble with them is a big mistake to make as poor souls.

Desmond, ever the gentle and well-calculated man, offered a polite smile. "Sorry, we’re here to visit Elizabeth. She’s a close friend."

But Becky wasn’t interested in formalities. She broke free from Desmond’s grasp, her eyes fixed on the elevator.

"Becky, slow down," Desmond urged, following closely behind.

"I need to see her, Des," Becky replied, her voice trembling.

The nurse nodded quickly, she wasn’t aware who they wanted to see but was sure Steohanwould know.

"Let

page Dr. Stephan. He’s been expecting you."

As they waited, Becky’s impatience grew. She paced back and forth, her heels clicking on the polished floor.

"Becky, darling, please," Desmond soothed, attempting to calm her.

But she wasn’t having it. "where the heck is Stephan and why don’t they know her?"

Desmond has never seen his wife act this way. She is so nervous with anxiety washing through her ever since Astrdi announced that her mum had cancer.

Becky is not ready to withstand it anymore. With a burst of fury, Becky sprinted toward the elevator.

"Becky, wait!" Desmond called out, chasing after her.

The elevator doors opened, revealing Dr. Stephan.

"Ah, uncle and aunty, why are you here," Stephan asked, his expression puzzled.

"I wasn’t expecting... How do you know Astrid’s mother?" he asked confusedly, recalling the nurse who had called him made ntion of that na.

But Becky barely registered his question.

"Take

to Elizabeth’s room, please," she pressed, her eyes pleading.

Stephan nodded, leading them down the corridor, until they gotta the front of the room.

As they walked, Desmond fell back, his eyes locked on Becky’s retreating figure.

"Stephan, what’s Elizabeth’s condition?" Desmond asked quietly.

Stephan’s expression turned somber, "Well I didn’t know much about her since her doctor is Dr Lee." he answered and Becky burst through the door, rushing to Elizabeth’s bedside.

"Elizabeth!" she exclaid, "Oh my!" Elizabeth let out in shock, as she tried sitting up. She never planned to see her again.

"Allen," she whispered, now embracing her friend tightly, she didn’t know how much she had missed her best friend until they embraced this tight.

Desmond entered, and his eyes t Stephan’s concerned gaze.

"I will leave you for now," Stephan said, backing away,

"I’m here, Liz," she whispered, tears streaming down her face, not until a few minutes later

Becky disengaged from the embrace, her face twisted in anguish. She grasped Elizabeth’s shoulders, shaking her.

"How could you, Liz?" Becky’s voice rose to a yell.

"You just left without a word! No call, no ssage, nothing! Do you know how worried I have been?" Elizabeth’s eyes, sunken and weary, filled with tears and regret she never knew her friend would miss her this much.

"Allen, I..."But Becky wouldn’t let her speak.

"I hated you, Liz! I hated you for leaving

like that. And now... now you’re lying here sick, and I’m supposed to just forgive you?"

Becky’s hands trembled, her fingers digging into Elizabeth’s shoulders until Desmond stepped forward, gently prying Becky’s hands away.

"Love, stop. Look at her. She’s not well." he cautioned her. Only then did Becky’s gaze falter, taking in Elizabeth’s frail appearance, and then she felt apologetic.

"I’m sorry, Liz," Becky’s voice cracked. "I just... I was so scared. I thought I had lost you forever."

Elizabeth’s lips curved into a weak smile. "I’m sorry too, Allen. I never ant to hurt you." Elizabeth apologized as she grabbed her friend’s hands.

"I shouldn’t have trusted my judgnt and just not called you again," she whispered to Becky but her lip glared at her friend.

Desmond has never seen his wife exhibit this kind of action, she is always a calculative and respectful wife. She hardly gets mad at things seeing how much emotion she had thrown here is leaving him speechless.

He placed his hands on his wife, patting it gently, "Take a deep breath, love," he whispered. "Let’s hear what she has to say."

Becky’s eyes brimd with tears as she looked at Elizabeth.

"Why did you leave?" Becky asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Elizabeth’s gaze drifted to Desmond, then back to Becky.

"I had to protect soone," Elizabeth said, her voice faint. "Soone important." Becky’s brow furrowed.

"Who?" Elizabeth’s eyelids fluttered closed.

"Tonia, I had to protect my sister. She was becoming too greedy and I can’t continue watching her live that way."

Becky’s hands trembled in anger, "You left your best friend without a word for your stupid sister who doesn’t value you a bit?"

"Allen," she called but she slapped it off.

"24 years, you left

without a word," she argued and Liz looked down sadly.

"Allen, she is still my sister, if I didn’t leave the inheritance would be for

and that would drift us apart with hatred,"

"Liz!" Becky yelled annoyed, "You have always done enough for her and made her not know the way the world is, your daughter suffered because of you!"

"That is a regret I am living for the rest of my life Allen, I am excited to see she managed to get Julain to be with her." then she grabbed her chest as she began to cough.

"Oh, water.." Becky gestured as she picked the water, giving it to Liz, and also trying to calm her.

Liz stopped after a while and then pulled off the handkerchief which was now filled with blood.

Becky’s eyes widened in shock as she grabbed her hands. "Liz... you are going to be fine, right?" she asked.

"I will," Lize replied without hesitation.

Becky wipes her tears, "I don’t trust you, I can’t, I need to talk with the doctor in charge of you,"

"Allen!" Liz calls, pulling her back, Becky’s hands trembling as she grabs her hands.

"You are dying," Becky let out and Liz smiled.

"I am here, nothing will happen to you. Love..." she called, staring at Desmond.

"Get the best doctor, we can fly her out, she can’t die, not when I just see you again after years," Liz shut her eyes.

"You don’t have to force it Allen, I still have a few years to live before leaving."

"Are you sure?"

"I won’t leave my daughter again, will I?"

All this while Stephan was outside stunned at the news he had just heard.

If Astrid’s mum is Mattie’s mum it ans the high girls are cousins, Stephan is left astounded, he needs to tell Mattie.

So she wouldn’t do anything to her again and then later live in regret.
