Chapter 117: HE CAN’T BE MINE
Astrid could be seen looking worked up as she stared at Maren’s sleeping figure.
Miles also couldn’t leave because of the news he had gotten so he is also still in Maren’s room.
He so badly wanted to confront her about the news, he felt she shouldn’t have taken action without him being aware of it.
Astrid placed a small kiss on Maren’s sleeping figure as she stood from the bed. She needed to go to the office that day but her friend’s condition wasn’t giving her the choice to.
Soone knocked on the door, and she walked out to open the door only to see Mattie outside.
"Can I co in to see Maren?" Astrid looked down at her and scoffed, "You caused her injury, why are you trying to act like you care?"
"It was a mistake and that was because of you, I heard how you made her stop working with ?"
Astrid shook her head, if it was a few days ago she would let this be but now she doesn’t care.
"Mattie, the lying whore, you caused it yourself, you didn’t want to work with her so don’t bla ." she defended.
Mattie smirked at this, "Are you trying to raise your voice at
because you now have a place in Julian’s house?"
Astrid tilted her head to the side now having a victorious smile on, "Yeah, not only his house but..." she leaned down to Mattie.
"But his na, rember this you can’t have a na if I don’t give it up." Mattie’s fist clenched and Astrid smirked.
"You bitch!"
"You don’t have to scream, I will make mine and let it go for you," Astrid teased and this got Mattie more furious.
"Rember you have a dying mother," At the ntion of Astrid’s mother she lost it.
She grabbed her by her hair and they both wheeled out of the room, as she slamd her wheelchair against the wall.
"What did you just say?"
"You heard
right, your mother," out of anger Astrid smacked her on her face and this made Mattie taken aback.
Astrid’s anger boiled over, "Say it one more ti!" she yelled, her hand raised to slap Mattie again.
But Julian sprinted toward them, grasping Astrid’s wrist. "Hey, she’s hurt. You don’t have to hurt her that way," he cautioned.
Astrid’s gaze flashed with disappointnt as she snatched her hands off.
"That crazy hitch just threatened ...."
But Mattie intervened, now clutching Julian’s arm. "Julian, she grabbed my neck and almost killed . She even smacked my face."
Astrid scoffed sadly seeing how he listened to Mattie.
"There’s no reason for
to explain things to you both. I am pretty sure he will support you."
Her glare intensified. "But know this, I might accept you calling
trash or treating
like one, but if you dare say anything about hurting my mom, I will show you how devilish and overprotective I can be."
Astrid stord into the room, slamming the door behind her but not too hard so as not to wake Marem up.
Julian turned to Mattie, concern etched on his face. "What did you say to her that triggered her to hurt you?"
Mattie’s eyes narrowed. "Are you believing her and disregarding the fact that she just hurt ?"
Julian’s expression softened. "No, but..."
Mattie cut him off. "But? Are you beginning to fall for her? We should be the ones getting married."
Julian’s voice firm. "Mattie!"
Mattie’s face fell silent.
"I am tired of repeating this," Julian continued. "I don’t want to hurt you, but you keep pushing ."
Mattie’s eyes welled up with tears.
"Let’s talk about this later," Julian said gently.
"Julian," she called sadly.
"She is my wife, okay, let’s stop acting lovey-dovey, I only allowed you to co live here because I didn’t want to hurt your feelings," he let out in frustration.
"I don’t love her, I can’t love her because of you okay?" Mattie stared at him.
"What?"
"I feel guilty, I can’t just go to her and forget about you so please.." he drew out.
"Make this easier for ," With that he moved behind her wheel, rolling out of the hallway.
Astrid slid down the door as it slamd shut, she wanted to shut the door when she heard their conversation, so she decided to eavesdrop.
"He couldn’t leave her, he had made it clear now," she whispered to herself disheartened.
She wanted this but now that he had said it, she felt hurt and heartbroken that she wanted him. But she had lost him, he was never even hers in the first place.
"Astrid," Miles called moving closer to her, he had leaned over the chair in dozing off but he fluttered open when she slamd the door. "What is wrong"
He asked, moving closer to her, though he was still mad she had hidden the truth of the pregnancy from him despite being her friend but he couldn’t push her away now she was crying.
"He can never be mine," she mumbled and Miles’s Eyes narrowed at this, he understood what she ant.
He pulled her into a tight embrace, knowing that was what she needed at the mont.
"You fell for him?" He whispered and Astrid nodded her head.
"It hurt to see him supporting her, it hurt to see him confessing his love for her." tears trickled down her face.
"I know I am selfish but my heart is hurting badly, it’s not my fault," she cried out.
He patted her back gently, not saying a word he understood her so much.
"Astrid," Maren called from the bed and they both disengaged running from her bed.
Astrid quickly wiped her tears off but Maren cut her act, "Good morning, Maren... hope the pain has reduced hope it doesn’t hurt anymore?"
She smiled and shook her head, "Why are you crying?" she swallowed hard not wanting her to get mad.
She was the reason why Mattie pushed her, putting her in this position in the first place.
"I didn’t cry, sothing got into it.." she lied. Marem smiled again until Miles broke the silence.
"Maren, how are you doing?" Miles asked with a bit of hesitation in his tone.
"Why do you care?"
"Mare please let’s talk," he let out.
Maren wanted to decline when Asyrid placed her hands on that of Maren shaking her head.
"He was the father you should have this conversation with," she whispered. Maren shook her head but Astrid persisted.
"Fine, but I am only giving him the chance to do so today." She gave a slight nod and then glanced over to Miles who gave her an appreciative smile.
"I should leave you both," Astrid stated and walked out of the room, with the hope of getting them all sothing to eat.
