Chapter 938: Chapter 375: Reformists Within the System (Part 2)

The four maids activated sleep mode, walked to the four corners of the suite, then closed their eyes, automatically activating wireless charging and night response mode.

The light in the room gradually dimd, and Yang Ming’s snoring beca the main sound.

Daphne, for so reason, who normally suffered from insomnia for one or two hours every night, quickly beca drowsy and fell asleep amidst the noise.

‘Such a night isn’t bad.’

This was her last thought before her brain rested.

“Stupid!”

The scolding voice of his third uncle made Atro sowhat embarrassed.

“Third Uncle, this, this is mainly Hanton who wants to create so achievents, so he proposed the plan to seize the Black Hole of local defense force military funds, I just wanted to consult your opinion.”

“The only part of you that is smart is knowing your limitations! Knowing to ask this old bone of mine about everything!”

Third Uncle snorted heavily:

“The front line is currently at war, and the rear wants to seize the bottom of these Great Nobles, how can the Great Nobles not cause trouble!

“A single or two Great Nobles won’t be a problem, but you’re trying to make all the Great Nobles have a strong sense of crisis. Once they unite and complain to His Majesty, how many heads do you think you have? Will our respected Emperor directly use you to quell the anger of the nobles?

“You’re simply a fool!

“The White Ghost is a Transford Soldier, it’s understandable that he lacks a big picture view, but you’ve been in the Military Intelligence Bureau for so many years, how can you not understand this basic reasoning!”

Atro could only awkwardly smile in apology.

He silently felt fortunate in his heart—thankfully he listened to Hanton and asked his third uncle in advance.

After scolding a few tis, Third Uncle’s mood cald a bit and he whispered: “Have you ntioned this to anyone else?”

“Absolutely not.”

“Hmm, you still have so brains left.”

Third Uncle nodded slowly, leaning back on the sofa and began to puff smoke:

“Atro, you need to rember one principle, the Empire’s rule is realized through the tool of nobles, and the Great Nobles are the redundant parts of this tool, they are parasites inevitably created by this system.

“The internal conflicts of the Empire have been increasingly intensifying, and our thod of diverting these conflicts outward through war has not achieved much after initial setbacks in the war.

“Actually, I’ve been constantly thinking recently about what exactly is causing the Empire’s current predicant.”

Atro laughed awkwardly: “Third Uncle, this is your area of concern, I can’t figure it out.”

“What good does my concern do anyway?”

Third Uncle sneered:

“My influence only exists within the military system. When the military completes a cycle of renewal from the bottom up, if I can’t advance further, I can only find a place to retire.”

Following that, Third Uncle gave a soft sigh and slowly said:

“When I was your age, I too was a not-so-bright general who only knew tactics, tactics, attack, attack, leading fleets to defeat one formidable enemy after another.

“Later I realized, the Empire’s greatest enemy is the Empire itself.

“Inside the Empire, below that round table, within the sphere of influence of various departnts in the military-political system, there exist two factions without clear divisions… Rather than forces, it’s more like the inner tendencies of us old folks.

“Atro, perhaps you’ve already heard the term reformist.”

Atro was taken aback: “Third Uncle, you’re a reformist?”

Third Uncle nodded slowly:

“It’s about ti to tell you this, but you don’t need to worry, this is a discussion ford within the core of the Empire’s power. We are rely seeking a path for the Empire’s future.

“This discussion actually revolves around whether we should modify the monarchy, redefine the Empire as a civilization with a long history, and then decorate the system’s outskirts with the words of freedom and democracy, still using another thod to implent an elite governance strategy, allowing the nobles to only maintain honorary titles, including the largest noble in the Empire.

“Currently within the military, there are more reformists and fewer conservative parties.

“As for the circle of Great Nobles, it’s the other way around, more conservatives and fewer reformists, which aligns with their own interests.”

Atro frowned deeply, the largest noble in the Empire, isn’t that… the Emperor?

He had actually long heard that the elites managing the Empire’s military, political, economic, cultural, and other fields—like this seemingly retired yet still influential figure in the military departnt—there existed a reformist faction and a conservative party.

He just didn’t expect that when he ca into contact with these, he had no choice, already with a clear stance.

He definitely had to go along with his third uncle.

“Third Uncle, what is His Majesty’s attitude towards this?”

“His Majesty? His Majesty does not know about these things,” Third Uncle chuckled, “At that table, the reformists occupy two-fifths, while the conservatives and those who want to maintain the status quo occupy three-fifths. When I first ca into contact with this circle, reformists only accounted for one-fifth.”

“Growing so fast?”

“Many people have changed their minds,” Third Uncle replied slowly, “The Empire has existed for too long, and this system has had countless patches added to it. When facing ideological impacts from other systems like the New Federation, it indeed has no strength to resist. Many people feel that the Empire’s system itself is evil, and only a democratic nation fully respects human rights.”

Atro frowned slightly: “Then, what should we do?”

“We can’t do anything, or rather, the ti is far from ripe.”

Third Uncle spoke slowly:

“The reformists have reached a bottleneck because to get a seat at that table, one must beco a mber of the Sherman family and will be constrained by the Empire’s system itself.”
