Chapter 639: 273 chanical Slaughter [Seeking a guaranteed minimum for Zhang~]_2

Half a minute later, five guards returned to the patrol lineup, clutching their laser guns as they left the area.

“So,” Griss turned his head to glance at the area where they had hidden their equipnt, complaining in his headset, “I prepared so much individual firepower when I ca, and now it’s all useless?”

Yang Ming laughed and said, “Don’t worry, it won’t significantly affect our overall combat capability.”

Griss: …

The twelve-person patrol arrived in front of an elevator. Bryant calmly stepped forward and attached two button-sized devices to the detection terminal of the elevator.

The five people heard the soft broadcasting of the Emperor Guard System in their ears.

“Infiltration of defense system succeeded… Rewriting database, inputting information… Information has been overwritten… Permissions have been modified.”

“So fast,” Catherine whispered in amazent.

At this mont, she still needed to wear the golden mask, which she had already fashioned into a headband shape and hidden under the soldier’s helt.

The twelve of them entered the elevator simultaneously and began to descend slowly.

The “Emperor Guard” began a pause in its broadcast:

“Please approach the core area of the fortress as closely as possible. The various operating systems of this fortress are relatively independent, requiring you to find the core control system.”

“The fortress is divided into three major layers and thirty-six minor layers. You are now entering the outer layer. This area mainly contains the weapon systems of the fortress, the guard training camps, and there are forty-six barracks training areas…”

“The central area of the fortress houses the New Federation’s military research institute, which has a relatively high level of confidentiality. It should retain the New Federation’s more advanced military technology.”

“The main control system of the fortress is located in the innermost area. Re-evaluate the operation plan now, with deputy leader Bryant and Officer Hanton attacking the lowest level area, while the other three enter the military research institute to steal relevant New Federation secrets.”

“The acquisition of New Federation military technology information will aid

in formulating appropriate tactics for annihilating the New Federation’s military capabilities.”

Yang Ming frowned and said, “We’re already short-handed. Isn’t dividing our forces too risky?”

“According to calculations, the probability of you two completing this task is ninety-five percent, while the probability for five people is ninety-seven percent.”

The “Emperor Guard” added:

“When you two voluntarily expose yourselves, the other three can better conceal themselves amidst the chaos.”

Yang Ming glanced worriedly at Catherine, who nodded gently.

“Please follow orders, Officer Hanton.”

Yang Ming’s lips twitched slightly.

The elevator began to decelerate. They had reached the patrol starting level of the guards, where once the elevator doors opened, they could see the bustling military camp.

A few floating patrol cars flew over their heads, while a group of off-duty soldiers, with gloomy expressions and hurried manners, passed by. Several cargo trucks transporting deep-space mines and space missiles slowly cruised past.

Looking up, the sky was a do composed of tal fraworks, extending parallel in all directions.

At the farthest point of vision—the “horizon”—Yang Ming could see a large display of shipborne equipnt, which seed to be a warti repair dock.

The number of robots running about greatly exceeded that of human soldiers, with logistics robots being predominant, although various types of chanical guards were not lacking either.

This was the outer layer of the fortress, a vast area mostly comprising military bases and training centers, with garrisoned troops possessing incalculable overall value.

Heavy footsteps sounded.

Two chanical guards, three ters tall, walked to the twelve people, each raising an arm to form a doorfra, with rays scanning back and forth inside.

Although Yang Ming and his team were sowhat apprehensive, a green light popped up before them as the rays swept by.

“Verification passed.”

The chanical guards lowered their arms and turned back to stand by the elevator sides.

Bryant gently waved his hand, and two “buttons” flew out, attaching to the arms of the chanical guards.

“This will be a good show to watch.”

A faint smile appeared at the corner of Bryant’s mouth.

Yang Ming raised an eyebrow, having realized that the robots here possessed a certain level of self-awareness, belonging to a semi-intelligent machine standard.

The fact that the chanical guards conducted identity verification here also indirectly proved one thing.

They were networked.

Three floating military vehicles approached, with Yang Ming’s group of five and seven other soldiers, whose minds had been affected by Bryant, boarding the hover vehicles.

A small countdown tir popped up before Yang Ming’s group of five.

“When the countdown ends, I will initiate complete chaos at this location. Please prepare for team combat.”

“30, 29, 28…”

“Act cautiously,” Yang Ming advised Catherine beside him, “Bryant and I will distract them, so don’t worry about us. Soon this place will be ours.”

“Our people?”

Catherine, puzzled, asked softly, “What do you an?”

“You’re likely to witness the Empire’s most powerful weapon,” Yang Ming murmured to himself, shaking his head.

The New Federation probably didn’t know that the Empire possessed a chanical Thought Body.

Lyu, whose computing power far surpassed this “predecessor,” was already considered a goddess by the Intelligent Machine.

“10, 9, 8, 7, 6…”

Yang Ming tightly gripped Catherine’s right hand, which was clad in a tactical glove, turned, kissed her cheek, and, almost simultaneously with Bryant, jumped from the hover vehicle.

Fireballs sprouted unexpectedly in the distance.

Massive explosions reverberated across the vast outer space of the fortress!

Mushroom cloud after mushroom cloud rose into the sky, with dazzling laser beams wantonly interweaving.

Soldiers stared in shock at the robots beside them, witnessing the gun barrels raised by chanical guards, and the electronic eyes flashing faint red light.

Boom!

The hover vehicle Griss was riding in was struck by a “stray bullet” laser, hitting the engine and causing an explosion, and the three of them simultaneously leapt out, blending into the lee crowd.
