Chapter 273: 137 Insect Race Swarm Explosion! (Added Chapter) _3
Underground base.
Professor Pat widened his eyes, incredulous as he stared at the screen in front of him, at the countless larvae that defied calculation.
They crazily lunged at the laser cannons, dismantling them in large swaths at the painful cost of fifty percent of their numbers.
In the corner, a few larvae with silver-white luminous backs gently vibrated their wings, causing the remotely controlled chanical guards to simultaneously go offline.
The tallic lid of a giant petri dish was directly blown off, as the huge, bloated, and sluggish Mother Worm tore into large pieces of tal with its terrifying mouthparts.
One by one, larvae flew toward the Mother Worm, diving straight into its mouth.
The hair-raising sounds of chewing echoed in Professor Pat’s ears.
“Stop it… it’s going to evolve… A Third Rank Mother Worm can profoundly transform the Swarm! Damn it! We didn’t realize they were hatching in a suicidal manner!”
Professor Pat shouted,
“Notify the defense fleet to prepare! Base One, implent the ergency evacuation plan! Destroy all backup files!”
…
Feinan.
Yang Ming sat in the captain’s chair, gazing at the planet outside the porthole. He casually picked up the distilled water brought by 026 and took a few big gulps.
“Boss,” 026 reminded, “Your body index is a bit abnormal. Should I give you an injection of the Genetic Stabilization Liquid?”
“Give
a shot.”
“I’ll go get it right away!”
026 hurried away.
Lyu, dressed in a dark blue uniform, appeared next to Yang Ming. She folded her hands behind her back, also watching Ram Star.
Feinan was rapidly distancing itself, refraining from initiating a jump to maintain secrecy.
“Boss, there’s currently no sign that we’ve been exposed. They’re focused on the bugs, but we’ve also left so traces, and it’s only a matter of ti before we’re discovered.”
“As long as no one discovers us now,” Yang Ming smiled, “What do you think? The New Federation’s network isn’t that easy to infiltrate, is it?”
“I almost got detected by their tech team a few tis,” Lyu snorted, “As a chanical Thought Body, I completely lost my ho-field advantage.”
“Don’t underestimate Galactic civilization.”
Yang Ming, with his arms as a pillow, gazed at Ram Star.
“Lyu, how’s our haul this ti?”
“We’ve achieved our expected goals,” Lyu quickly tallied, “The formula for the enhancent serum is in hand. After preliminary analysis, it seems you can use it too, Boss, but the enhancent effect isn’t certain, and the side effect is a tendency to go berserk.”
Yang Ming’s eyes brightened, “Going berserk is a small issue, as survival is key.”
“That’s right,” Lyu chuckled, “The intel on the secret base on Ram Star should be the biggest gain of this mission. We can implent the ‘drive wolves, chase tigers’ follow-up strategy, securing ample developnt opportunities for our side.”
“It’s relatively satisfying,” Yang Ming remarked contentedly.
“Uh, aren’t you at all regretful about Miss Hera, Boss?”
“We were using each other,” Yang Ming shrugged, “I admire that woman, but it’s a pity. It’ll be difficult for her to escape the New Federation’s clutches in the future. I also hope she tightly guards Yali’s secret… I can finally scrape off the dressing on my face…”
026 had already returned, holding the syringe.
Just as Yang Ming was about to inject, his eyelids twitched lightly, and an inexplicable familiar irritation arose in his heart, though very slightly this ti.
What… was happening?
Yang Ming gripped the ‘skin breaker,’ watching in the direction of Ram Star.
There, a military transport ship soared full speed into the sky, unshielded with a layer of fire on its periphery.
Lyu quickly enlarged the transport ship’s image, prompting a soft cry from 026.
The outside of the ship sward densely with larvae.
“Lyu, enlarge its portholes!”
“Yes.”
A sowhat blurred moving image appeared before Yang Ming.
Inside the porthole, over ten human crew mbers stood trembling in front of the control station, with those studied adult insects Yang Ming had seen in pictures, raising sharp blade limbs against these crew mbers’ backs.
Further back, larvae covered the floor densely.
Vaguely seen, the once-transford Mother Worm, and, pierced through the shoulder by an antenna, suspended in midair, yet expressionless and eyes glowing green…
Hera.
026 and Lyu exchanged a glance, with Lyu starting to report quickly,
“Boss, a fleet from the New Federation is jumping here!”
“The forward transport ship is initiating a forced jump!”
“This Mother Worm really intends to escape! The transport ship might not withstand the gravitational tearing during a forced jump, but the Mother Worm will surely survive!”
“Follow it.”
Yang Ming calmly ordered.
“Boss?” Lyu was a bit puzzled.
Yang Ming’s eyes squinted slightly, “I want to try hunting the Insect Race to see what gains there might be.”
“But… okay, Boss, I’ll try to compute a safe ti,” Lyu worriedly glanced at the syringe Yang Ming had set down.
She knew Yang Ming was not being driven by the Ancient Gods’ instincts now.
The boss craved strength.
At least, stronger than Po Suo.
The transport ship made a forced jump, its rear threatening to disintegrate.
Lyu accurately calculated the opponent’s landing point, with Feinan quickly jumping in pursuit.
“Boss, we don’t have much ti; the New Federation’s powerful fleet could appear any minute.”
“Prepare for particle transmission.”
Yang Ming rushed to the corner, where a white exoskeletal armor stood ready for use again.
“Lyu, I’m temporarily handing over the captain’s authority to you. Command now and always be ready to transport
back.”
“Understood,” Lyu glead.
Promoted temporarily.
