Three tubes of blood and a tube of bone marrow disappeared from the lab, and Sasa knew it was Yan Luo who took them.
If nothing unexpected happens, Yan Luo has already given them to so people.
When Sasa asked Yan Luo to whom he had given them, Yan Luo answered honestly.
You Yifeng, Chen Shan, and Wu Zechuan all have decent character and aren’t the type to blab secrets casually.
Three days passed, and Yan Luo was fine, which made Sasa breathe a sigh of relief.
Sitting inside the abyss-specialized armored vehicle, Sasa buckled the seatbelt while wearing an exoskeleton, looking forward.
Yan Luo started the armored vehicle, passed through the space mbrane, and entered the Abyss.
With the vehicle’s perception system activated, Yan Luo turned to Sasa and asked, "How do you plan to experint?"
Sasa answered, "Just like last ti, capture a few demons and inject them with your blood and bone marrow separately to see their reactions."
Things that can tempt city-breaking level demons, Sasa didn’t believe they couldn’t tempt lower-level demons; she leaned more towards lower-level demons being unable to sense Yan Luo’s blood and bone marrow.
"Let’s start with a harmless level demon to test the waters."
With that, Yan Luo stopped the vehicle, opened the door, and jumped out, casually grabbing a centipede from the bushes not far from the door.
"Is an arthropod okay?" Yan Luo looked back at Sasa.
Sasa, looking at the centipede constantly writhing in Yan Luo’s hand, got goosebumps and squealed softly, "Throw it away! Quick, throw it away!"
Yan Luo shook his head, "Throwing it away is such a waste."
With that, Yan Luo snapped off its head and stuffed the body into his mouth, chewing and swallowing.
Witnessing this, Sasa turned pale and felt a bit nauseous.
She hadn’t expected that Yan Luo, who once resisted eating raw at and blood so much, could eat a centipede’s body without flinching, especially since the body doesn’t imdiately lose vitality after losing its head, continuing to move in Yan Luo’s mouth as he chewed... Ugh!
Sasa gagged a couple of tis, almost vomiting, hastily shaking off her imagination.
The activity range of harmless level demons mostly overlaps. They are the weakest existences in the Abyss, such that no traces left by their activities are feared by other demons.
Yan Luo glanced around, quickly finding a new harmless-level creature.
Yan Luo’s figure montarily disappeared from his original spot, reappearing ten ters away.
Dragging a trail of afterimages behind him, Yan Luo crossed thirty ters and grabbed an Abyss Chaleon.
This type of demon is widely distributed in various abysses, almost like the baseline code of the Abyss.
Their superpower is changing color, and at the dangerous level, they can even create phantom images of powerful demons, though their combat strength isn’t much.
For experintal purposes, the Abyss Chaleon is a pretty handy demon.
"Eh? Abyss Chaleon?"
Seeing the demon Yan Luo had caught, Sasa’s eyes lit up.
Last ti their team entered the Abyss, due to Yan Luo’s thorough slaughtering, every student in the team had to personally research a demon, and Sasa got an Abyss Chaleon.
This is a demon that bullies the weak but fears the strong; if its size is bigger than it, it’ll act as docile as a newborn kitten, doing nothing but wling.
Yan Luo handed the Abyss Chaleon to Sasa and continued driving, while Sasa turned and went into the luggage compartnt, activated the experint stand, and tied the Abyss Chaleon onto it.
First up for experintation was Yan Luo’s blood.
Sasa opened a tube of Yan Luo’s blood, letting the sll seep into the Abyss Chaleon’s nose, which made the initially obedient chaleon suddenly struggle violently, extending its tongue, trying to lick Yan Luo’s blood inside the tube.
"Looks like your blood does have attraction for lower-level demons; they simply can’t sense it," Sasa said to Yan Luo.
Yan Luo remained silent, quietly driving.
Sasa was long used to Yan Luo’s personality, not feeling the slightest dissatisfaction, and turned back to continue her experint.
She and Yan Luo were quite alike, both being the type of obsessive people who ignore others once imrsed in their passion.
Sasa drew so blood with a syringe and dropped it on the Abyss Chaleon’s tongue, allowing it to consu.
City-breaking level demons in the Abyss want to devour Yan Luo, so Sasa needs to simulate the changes that might occur if they eat Yan Luo’s blood.
Changes in the Abyss Chaleon might take so ti, so Sasa placed it inside a [Demon Preservation Box], activating the box’s real-ti monitoring system to observe its physiological data.
After finishing that task, Sasa sat back in the passenger seat, looking ahead at the seemingly endless dense giant trees, occasionally making notes.
Although Sasa was a student in the Abyss Ecology program, researchers like her entering the Abyss to research was quite troubleso, with expenses such as hiring Hunters for protection being quite high.
If it weren’t for Sasa’s good private relationship with Yan Luo, and Yan Luo even willing to subsidize the 200,000 base rent for an abyss-specialized armored vehicle, she would only be able to enter the Abyss with a group. With her paycheck rely covering living expenses, she couldn’t afford to hire Hunters for her protection in the Abyss.
Not to ntion Sasa, even the professors in the Abyss Ecology program had few opportunities to enter the Abyss. In the entire team, led by Li Jiongming, there were only a few people who had entered the Abyss more than 30 tis.
With this advantage, many in the team, both teachers and students, envied Sasa.
"Are we only roaming in the Dark Forest this ti?" Sasa asked Yan Luo.
Yan Luo glanced at her, "Want to go to other areas?"
"Yes." Sasa nodded obediently.
Yan Luo thought for a mont and slightly nodded, "Okay."
"Really?" Sasa instantly beca cheerfully excited.
Yan Luo didn’t answer, but Sasa knew he was speaking the truth.
Sasa waved her little fists excitedly; she now had another advantage over her classmates.
Not just students, even teachers, haven’t visited other regions of the Crimson Abyss.
"Let’s head to the Rust Iron Hills first." Yan Luo turned the steering wheel, changing the vehicle’s direction.
Sasa asked confusedly, "Why go there?"
"There are elental demons at Rust Iron Hills," Yan Luo replied.
Sasa suddenly understood; Yan Luo wanted to test whether his blood attracted elental demons.
This made Sasa feel a bit disappointed; she thought Yan Luo might say, "Since you want to explore the Crimson Abyss, we can go to the Rust Iron Hills, which lies close to the Blood Lake and Bone-Eroding Plain. Going to the Rust Iron Hills ans we can detour through the Blood Lake and then proceed to the Bone-Eroding Plain..."
The disappointnt lasted only a few seconds; Sasa quickly beca excited.
Researching elental demons was also great; she had never studied them before. Once back from the Abyss, she’d have topics to brag to others about.
In a good mood, Sasa even started humming a tune.
After a short lody, Yan Luo joined in, humming softly.
Sasa was a bit surprised, "This is a song from twenty years ago; you rember the lody?"
A trace of nostalgia flickered in Yan Luo’s eyes, "My mom sang it to when I was little, when I wouldn’t sleep at night."
Sasa laughed, "Did Auntie sing you to sleep?"
Yan Luo’s expression turned a bit awkward, hesitating a bit, "Um... mainly because my mom sings terribly. She’d threaten with singing if I didn’t sleep. If I misbehaved, she wouldn’t scold ; she’d get my dad to sing along— their duet was like disturbing the peace."
"Pfft, hahaha!" Sasa couldn’t help but laugh.
Yan Luo’s childhood was quite joyful; such family atmosphere...
Suddenly, Sasa stopped laughing as she rembered Yan Luo’s parents had passed away long ago.
The atmosphere suddenly cooled down, and Sasa felt like she was sitting on pins and needles, feeling as if she owed Yan Luo an apology, muttered "I’ll go check on the chaleon," and hurried into the back compartnt.
Thud!
The armored vehicle shook slightly as if it had hit sothing.
Yan Luo glanced at the monitor and then relaxed.
It had hit a Shadow Wolf, judging by its size, a fatal-level one.
The fatal-level Shadow Wolf attempted to ambush from the vehicle’s shadow but was directly hit by the vehicle, and probably wouldn’t survive or at least be crippled.
If it were another fatal-level demon, getting hit by the armored vehicle definitely wouldn’t be lethal, but the Shadow Wolf, as listed in the "Demon Compendium" as the worst, had a high chance of dying.
