Xiao Baihong stood on a tree, warily surveying his surroundings.
"Only those two vehicles, no other situations," he said to the group.
"Wait for them to co," the commander ordered.
The two trucks had clearly noticed the situation here and imdiately veered towards them.
A gun-wielding warrior briskly ran over, loudly demanding, "Which unit are you from?"
Wu Xiaode replied, "We’re from the Engineering Corps, the second exploration squad."
"Why have you stopped?"
"The vehicle’s having so issues, we’re fixing it."
"Identification!"
"All here, here you go."
Wu Xiaode handed over his ID.
The warrior scrutinized the ID closely, his tense face gradually relaxing with relief.
"Weren’t there ten of you? Why are there only six now?" he asked.
The commander replied, "The other four ran off, we were about to report it."
The warrior showed a look of understanding and waved towards the two trucks.
Quickly,
several soldiers got off the trucks, surrounding a person who looked like an officer, and approached the group.
"Where are you headed?" the officer asked.
"Base S11-4798," the commander said.
She rubbed her hands together, stamped her feet gently, and glanced over toward the trucks.
At this point, everyone appeared relaxed on the surface, but they all knew the commander was getting anxious.
The gunman took the hint and knocked on a part of the engine.
The machine roared to life instantly.
"Fixed it! Squad Leader Wu!" Sun shouted.
"Good, let’s go, we need to get to the base as quickly as possible, we do have military duties after all!" Wu Xiaode picked up quickly.
Xiao Baihong was initially inclined to jump straight down from the tree but hesitated and managed to restrain himself, sliding down the tree slowly instead.
The gunman and Ying were already running towards the truck.
Wu Xiaode shook hands with the officer, saying solemnly, "Ti is pressing, shall we go together?"
"Good, you lead, we’ll follow," the officer said.
Everyone boarded the vehicles.
The military truck roared fiercely, kicking up clouds of dust on the mountain road as it headed deep into the rugged mountains.
About ten minutes later,
the group safely reached a base in the mountains.
To call it a base was generous – it looked more like dozens of tents of various sizes.
Quickly soone ca to check IDs, then let the group into the camp for a brief rest, ntioning that new orders would arrive soon.
Wu Xiaode observed for a while, then spoke, sowhat puzzled:
"I really can’t understand..."
"What can’t you understand?" Xiao Baihong asked.
"This world can create high-tech items like Space Transmission Devices, so why are they still using such outdated trucks, and even the camp is so rudintary? You see, their mobile phones are almost the sa as ours," Wu Xiaode said.
Outside the tents, a soldier anxiously dialed his phone, but he could not get through.
"Indeed, sothing is off. It’s not possible that only space technology has developed – that’s why I’ve been investigating the reason, and I’ve just traced it here," the commander said.

an elder with sword-and-shield insignia on his shoulder was escorted by many to the center of the camp.

At that mont, everyone in the camp ceased their activities.
The general stood on top of several crates of military supplies and announced loudly, "I have good news for everyone. The recent excavation’s work has been recognized by the World United Governnt, and after we return, everyone will receive awards!"
The crowd imdiately cheered and applauded.
"Sothing’s not right, this old guy has sothing off about his speech; it’s not genuine," Ying murmured.
"I felt the sa way; when he was talking just now, I had the urge to kill him," Xiao Baihong said with a smile.
Regardless of how the squad mbers communicated privately,
the atmosphere in the camp had beco lively.
The morale was high.
On the stage,
the general smiled, raised his hands, and made a pressing motion downwards to signal everyone to quiet down.
"Alright, now listen to ,"
"I command, all personnel to imdiately start the next phase of work."
"— We will begin the most important exploration of this mission!"
"Yes!" everyone responded in unison.
The entire camp beca bustling.
High-level officers around the general were frantically running around the camp, loudly issuing orders to the squads, urging everyone to speed up and prepare for entering the cave.
The general, along with many soldiers, had already headed toward the underground cave’s location.
"Sothing’s not quite right..."
The commander furrowed her brows, muttering softly.
"Should I go take a look?" Xiao Baihong asked.
"Your Soul Power?"
"Recovered two points,"
"Be careful, don’t engage, return imdiately after gathering information," the commander instructed.
"Got it."
Xiao Baihong opened a black umbrella, stepped out of the tent, and suddenly vanished.
After a while,
he returned with the umbrella, whispering, "The general has two communicators by his side, constantly trying to reach the World United Governnt by various ans, but they can’t make contact."
"That’s impossible," Sun said in surprise, "the communication technology in this world is similar to ours, there are satellites in the sky; they couldn’t possibly be unable to contact higher authorities."
— His chest was still bleeding.
Wu Xiaode touched his forehead and averted his gaze.
