Wu Xiaode was sowhat hesitant.
On one hand, his "End" had already consud over thirty "Ends," and it was just one step away from a qualitative improvent. It was only natural to feed them.
On the other hand, a battle of life and death was imminent. If they were to sleep, he would be deprived of a reliable fighting force—
It really was a dilemma.
"Forget it," Wu Xiaode, seeing the pleading looks on the faces of the two won, turned his thoughts and spoke, "Take it and eat, I’ll figure out sothing about the ti."
As soon as he finished speaking.
Both female angels raised their hands and cheered loudly:
"Brother Wu is the best!"
"If no one marries Brother Wu, I will be the bride!"
" too!"
Wu Xiaode, with a face full of exasperation, did not bother to respond to them but tossed the long sword directly into the Book of the Dead.
—From a side view, it looked as if he had placed the sword into a storage space.
A line of ice crystal characters suddenly appeared:
"Your ’End’ is devouring ’End·Absolute Division’ and will fall into slumber."
On the Book of the Dead, both female angels yawned together.
"This ti I promise... I’ll wake up after just five minutes..."
Said the first angel, then leaned backward onto the bed, lying down fully clothed.
The second angel rubbed her eyes and stretched lazily:
" too, I will dream less this ti and wake up earlier to help Brother Wu fight..."
She was more particular than the first angel, beginning to remove her outer clothing before wrapping herself in a blanket to sleep.
The Book of the Dead closed.
Wu Xiaode stood silently, deep in thought.
His "End" had once again started to evolve, so the best strategy now was not to directly engage in a life and death fight with Abner.
Instead, it was to delay ti until his "End" had completed its evolution.
He was thinking about this when he suddenly heard faint noises.
These sounds seed to co from another world.
Wu Xiaode’s gaze shifted in a particular direction, then suddenly activated "Vision Beyond" and left the world of the living, arriving once again in the Netherworld.
There, in the Void, a skull suddenly appeared, chewing on a hand bone with a "crunch, crunch" sound.
—This was one of the eleven resentful spirits from earlier.
It looked even more sinister, and occasionally, strands of dark aura could be seen enveloping it, continually manifesting into faint glimrs of light.
"Brother, I ca to tell you sothing," the resentful spirit said.
"Go ahead," Wu Xiaode said.
"There’s a curse on our father. It’s this one, take a look at it now, it’s about to run away."
The resentful spirit took out a deep purple bead, displaying it before Wu Xiaode.
The bead struggled constantly in the hand of the resentful spirit, as if it might fly away at any mont.
—What is this?
Wu Xiaode paused, then looked at the Book of the Dead.
Unfortunately, only the words "Unknown Item" were displayed on it.
"Who knows what it does?" Wu Xiaode asked.
Two Demon Gods sent thoughts simultaneously: "Never seen it."
The Ghost Queen Audrey transmitted a ssage from the Void:
"I’ve seen sothing similar. This is a Soul Curse Soul Device, very malicious, but I’m not too clear on its specific effects."
Little Bone said, "Is this matter important? If it’s not, just let it be."
"I feel this matter is still very important—Little Bone, is there a way to check?" Wu Xiaode asked.
Little Bone spoke in a resigned tone, "Then there’s no way. I just saved up so strength recently and was planning to evolve so attack skills, but it seems I have to upgrade ’Ice Frost Search’ by one level now."
The next second.
Two lines of ice crystal characters suddenly appeared on the Book of the Dead:
"Your shadow follower: Bone Dragon has upgraded its skill."
"’Ice Frost Search’ has upgraded to ’Bone Phone 1’."
Damn it.
"Little Bone... what kind of weird skill is this?" Wu Xiaode couldn’t help but ask.
"Hold on a mont." Little Bone responded.
Only a barely perceptible "click" sound echoed in the Void.
Little Bone murmured despondently,
"Mistake, I should have turned off the cara microphone; otherwise, it’s easy to get caught while spying—alright, let that resentful spirit go, I’ll check what this thing is."
Wu Xiaode: "..."
He said to the resentful spirit, "Thanks, I’ve already got the information."
The skeleton nodded at him, about to say sothing, but then the dark purple bead broke free from its hand, zood into the Void, and disappeared.
"Brother, be careful, it seems to have headed to the living world," the skeleton spirit said.
"Okay, I’m heading back too, congratulations on your revenge," Wu Xiaode said.
"Brother, actually I’m feeling quite distressed now. The sensation of vengeance did not make us relieved but instead made our powers more bizarre and terrifying," the skeleton spirit said.
Wu Xiaode paused.
This wasn’t right.
If the resentful spirits had resolved their resentnt, they should be reincarnating.
"What exactly... is going on...," Wu Xiaode said softly.
Behind the resentful spirit, ten of its peers appeared, all looking towards Wu Xiaode.
The resentful spirit spoke:
"We are entangled in a deeper resentnt and unwillingness, sinking toward the abyss of death. Brother, if you can find the reason, please co and save us."
After speaking, it disappeared.
Wu Xiaode’s mind was fraught with doubts, pondering for a long ti before asking:
"Little Bone, did you find anything?"
"Of course, I’m sending it to your Book of the Dead; you can see it directly from the book!" Little Bone’s voice sounded.
The Book of the Dead flipped open to a blank page, and gradually a photo erged.
——It was the dark purple bead that Little Bone had just photographed.
Beside the photograph, there were lines of chillingly small text, clearly from Little Bone’s Ice Frost search:
"End Illusion: Bloodline Resonance Curse."
"It originates from an extrely high-level End, controlling the will of those with the sa bloodline in the form of a curse, causing them to gradually adopt a pre-set idea as their belief until death does them part."
"This curse will be passed down through a bloodline, from father to son, son to grandson, never ceasing."
Even Wu Xiaode, accustod to bizarre occurrences, felt a chill rise from beneath his feet, spreading across his spine, making him shiver uncontrollably.
He had never thought that an End could directly control one’s thoughts.
However, such matters were the internal secrets of the Shangmo family, and this branch of the Arian bloodline probably had no knowledge of them.
They were rely contributing to and sacrificing for the family unwittingly.
——Still foolishly hoping to beco the strongest branch of the family.
Wu Xiaode sighed and deactivated "et the Extres," returning directly to the living world.
The entire courtyard was already non-existent.
The wind blew through.
The blood-stained black Battle Armor was neatly arrayed on the ground.
This was that man’s Battle Armor; he had been manipulated his entire life and had finally died at the hands of his own "son".
The surrounding light barriers silently vanished.
The maid stood under the lush bamboo, bowing to Wu Xiaode:
"Master Arian, the Family Head is hurrying here, and the Matriarch has already intercepted him,"
"Please imdiately impersonate Wu Xiaode and go to the ’Heaven and Earth’ to slay young master Abner. In doing so, you will beco the master of your lineage, and even the Family Head will not be able to do anything about it,"
"Is this the Matriarch’s idea?" Wu Xiaode asked.
"Yes, you did very well, proving your capabilities, so the Matriarch has stepped forward to intercept the Family Head. Please cherish the ti and quickly finish that life-or-death battle,"
the maid respectfully said.
Wu Xiaode pondered briefly.
The curse had left the Netherworld.
Where had it gone?
It seed there was only one of the Arian lineage left.
——Abner.
Yes, only he remained.
The curse must have gone to him.
If he were killed, the curse would definitely end.
The person who released the curse would realize sothing—
After Abner’s death, the curse could not jump to "Arian."
The true Arian was already dead, and being not of their bloodline, he could not inherit the curse.
In that case, his identity would be imdiately exposed.
That ant—
Abner could not die yet!
He had to act like a at shield, attracting everyone’s attention, and also keep the curse firmly upon him.
This way, his identity would not be revealed!
Wu Xiaode lowered his head, continuing to deliberate.
If it were just a matter of killing Abner, he could possibly do it with all his might.
But if he had to keep him alive—
He would at least have to wait until his "End" awakened.
So.
The next step was crystal clear!
"Alright, I understand, Abner will surely die, but I suddenly received a response from the Holy Spirit Emperor and must return to the Human Emperor’s Secret Realm,"
Wu Xiaode said, pulling out the Human Emperor’s Token from his pocket.
The maid looked at him, and then at the Human Emperor’s Token in his hand, seemingly about to say sothing but then unable to say anything further.
——The flow of ti in the Human Emperor’s Secret Realm, relative to other worlds, was almost at a standstill.
Arian had received the Human Emperor’s True Inheritance.
So now, the entire Human Emperor’s Secret Realm was his for the taking, and going back to gather more strength was an absolutely unobjectionable act.
"Please make sure to kill Abner, that is the Matriarch’s request,"
the maid said.
Wu Xiaode grinned and said, "Don’t worry, I’ll go see what else the Human Emperor has to teach —and then I’ll kill Abner."
He activated the Human Emperor’s Token.
With a flash—
he disappeared into the Void.
The maid stood where she was for a while longer.
Her expression remained respectful, as if waiting for sothing.
After a short while,
the wind brought waves of floral fragrance.
Down the quiet path, a shapely figure elegantly approached.
"Matriarch."
"Hmm, did he go to the Human Emperor’s Secret Realm?"
"Yes."
"Good, he has grown quite significantly, like a ripe fruit, I just love this feeling and wish I could take him down sooner."
Suddenly, a sonorous voice arose from the Void:
"Qiong, don’t overplay your hand, be careful or you might be completely devoured by today’s young generation, and I will certainly not be rciful then."
The Matriarch smiled charmingly, bowing toward the Void: "Family Head, rest assured, everything about him will be in my grasp."
"The Human Emperor’s Secret Realm and the True Inheritance are mine, the rest is yours,"
"Yes, Family Head,"
the Matriarch nad Qiong softly replied, her eyes revealing a profound depth.
A mont later,
that profound depth vanished, as if it had never existed at all.
