Wu Xiaode climbed out from the cave.
The rock wall was wet, slippery, and ice-cold.
A gusty mountain wind blew.
Wu Xiaode heard a dreadful scream.
Not far from him, a fellow dead man who had just erged from a stone cave lost his footing and tumbled down the cliff, striking a large boulder and flying off the precipice.
He fell into the dark abyss below.
"What will beco of that man?" Wu Xiaode asked.
"Below the cliff is a deep pool teeming with Bone-eating Fish, and so terrifying Death Monsters. The only fate for those who fall there is to be devoured," the female deceased replied.
"Thanks for the information, but I don’t have a soul stone to be buried with you," Wu Xiaode said.
The female dead imdiately showed a disdainful expression:
"Pauper, didn’t anyone burn paper money for you when you died?"
Wu Xiaode shrugged his shoulders.
The female dead imdiately turned away, gripping protrusions on the cliff face and quickly left.
A stronger blast of cold wind ca.
Even Wu Xiaode had to quickly leap back into his cave to dodge the fierce crosswind.
—Who would have thought, death was like this.
Twenty-seven or twenty-eight deceased walked over; the one who had greeted him earlier said:
"Let’s go, go hunting."
"Hunting for what?" Wu Xiaode asked.
"After eating sothing, you’ll have the energy to climb the mountain," the dead man replied.
"Climb the mountain for what?" Wu Xiaode asked again.
The dead man paused, then pointed to the limitless steep cliffs.
Wu Xiaode followed where he was pointing.
The mountain was incomprehensibly massive; the steep rock wall he saw extended into the horizon, its surface riddled with countless caves.
—The dead awaken from these caves.
The sky was gray, filled with dense clouds, occasionally revealing large shadows slowly drifting away through the cloud layers.
"If you fail to replenish your strength continually, you will beco weaker and weaker, and one day the fierce winds will blow you out of the cave, and you’ll fall into the deep pools beneath the precipice,"
the dead man explained.
"Is there a way to leave this place?" Wu Xiaode asked.
"I don’t know, I only arrived here a day before you," the dead man replied.
"Alright, let’s go."
Wu Xiaode said.
Seeing that he had persuaded him, the dead man felt satisfied, leading the group of over twenty deceased towards the higher parts of the cliff face.
Wu Xiaode followed at the back.
The Book of the Dead hovered around him, moving nimbly through the air like a flying bird.
It seed that after coming to this trial illusion, it beca especially active!
The procession of the dead walked a distance, and the path ahead got steeper.
Everyone had to use both hands and feet, climbing towards the upper part of the rock wall.
Suddenly—
An even more intense fierce wind swept through.
"Ah!"
"No—"
Two of the deceased let out a wail, appearing about to be blown away.
Wu Xiaode’s gaze flashed.
Suddenly, several bronze hands erged from the Void, firmly pressing the two onto the ground.
The wind gradually subsided.
The bronze hands disappeared without a trace.
"What was that just now?" the leading dead exclaid in surprise.
"Not sure, seems like so sort of secret chanism," another one said.
The group discussed for a while but couldn’t conclude anything.
After passing through this fierce wind, everyone grew afraid, and three of them turned and went back.
The remaining team still numbered over twenty.
Everyone continued to move forward.
The higher they climbed, the steeper and more slippery the rocks beca.
The slope’s angle here was nearly impossible to stand upon, and a slip could likely cause one to fall out of the cliff.
"Is there really food here?" Wu Xiaode couldn’t help but ask.
"There is, I once gathered so here—almost there," the leading dead replied.
He led everyone through a small path concealed by vines to a massive cave.
The cave was deep, its end invisible.
"What kind of food could possibly be here," Wu Xiaode muttered.
Looking around, he couldn’t even see a mushroom.
—Instead, a foul stench wafted from the depths of the cave.
The Book of the Dead suddenly opened to the page showing the Wall of Wishes.
Numbers of blood letters appeared on the Wall of Wishes, quickly transforming into words before Wu Xiaode’s eyes:
"Damn it! I’m already dead, yet my soul is still to be consud!"
"This is a trap!"
"Run! Those who co after!"
"We have beco part of that monster, don’t be fooled!"
"Flee! Don’t hesitate, just run!"
"..."
The small text extended endlessly, with the text in front disappearing after being read, followed by constant updates appearing.
—All filled with despair and resentnt.
Wu Xiaode was sowhat startled.
Could the Wall of Wishes reveal the last words of the dead who died here?
Then what exactly was here?
The next instant.
In the depths of the cave, a huge black shadow silently slithered forward, its body, hundreds of ters long, encircling everyone.
—This was an enormous three-eyed black snake.
It had shiny black scales, and on each scale, the resentful and unwilling faces of humans appeared, while its own three eyes were a deep red.
The people, whether alive or dead, had never seen such a terrifying monster.
Many were crying in despair.
More fell to the ground, too weak to even stand.
"Why only these few?"
The black snake hissed, speaking dissatisfied.
The leader of the dead was already kneeling, repeatedly kowtowing and saying, "Great God, I will imdiately find more for you."
"Go," the black snake said.
The serpent body blocking the cave slightly moved, opening a gap just enough for one person to crawl through.
The man turned to leave.
Snap.
Wu Xiaode suddenly reached out and grabbed the man by the neck.
"We agreed you were going to find food, now that you’ve found it, why do you want to leave alone?" Wu Xiaode said with a smile.
The man was furious and swung his fist at Wu Xiaode, but Wu Xiaode caught his fist and he couldn’t even twitch.
"Master—"
The man turned his head and pleaded to the black snake.
The black snake stared at Wu Xiaode, hissing as it spoke, "Release my servant, he is still useful."
"Understood," Wu Xiaode said with a smile.
He slightly tightened his grip.
A crisp sound of bone-cracking echoed from the man’s neck, his body instantly stiffened, and he could no longer move.
"Generally, the dead with Soul Power sink underground, providing power to the Death World, but he doesn’t have even a bit of Soul Power, nor was he eaten by a monster—what will he beco?"
Wu Xiaode let go, smiling and said, "Now is the mont to witness a miracle."
The dead man’s body fell to the ground, gradually stiffened, and turned into a stone.
From the Book of the Dead, a line of ice crystal letters appeared:
"Without external intervention, it will exist as a stone, eternally, until eternity collapses."
Wu Xiaode picked up the stone, tossed it in his hand, and looking at the black snake said,
"He was your servant, do you want to save him?"
The stone was thrown out.
The black snake disdainfully exhaled at the stone.
The stone instantly shattered in mid-air.
"Well, the stone is broken," Wu Xiaode cocked his head and said, "Will it transform into anything else?"
"Death!"
The black snake roared and charged at Wu Xiaode.
A dense mass of Eternal Fall Demon Hands ford a large Demon God around Wu Xiaode.
Wu Xiaode reached out and slapped.
Na Skill "Heavenly Ghost" activated!
The Demon God was instantly endowed with the power of the Demon God Seed.
The next mont.
The Demon God started moving.
Evil Ghost King Rester!
It roared lowly, and without even summoning, it directly pounced, grabbed the black snake, crushed its head into powder, and spat it onto the walls of the cave.
"Rubbish."
The female head of the Evil Ghost King disdainfully said.
Just in one encounter, the black snake was dead.
—As a Death Snake that fed on freshly dead beings, it was far too inferior to the level of the Demon God.
Suddenly.
With a "clang", a dazzling starburst appeared out of the Void.
Wu Xiaode looked at the starburst, couldn’t help but wonder.
This starburst was a capability of the Book of the Dead, signifying that he had gained the admiration and approval of others.
Could this starburst signify that the remaining twenty-so people approved of him?
No—
He suddenly felt sothing, and looked towards the hundreds of ters long body of the giant snake.
He saw that on its scale-covered body, all the human faces were no longer filled with resentnt, and had peacefully closed their eyes.
The entire snake body turned into flying ash and quickly dispersed.
Several glowing humanoid beings floated in front of Wu Xiaode.
They rged into one, speaking in unison:
"From now on, this birthplace of the undead will no longer be harassed by the Death Snake, and the power of the Human Race will flourish!"
The glowing humanoid beings nodded to Wu Xiaode and quietly dissipated into the Void.
The next second.
Several lines of ice crystal letters appeared in front of Wu Xiaode:
"In this hidden trial, you have earned the recognition of one starburst."
"Attention!"
"The starbursts of this book are mainly used to explore the completion of Death Trials, and winning the approval of all beings in the human world is but a secondary ability; please do not confuse the primary with the secondary."
"In each Death Trial, the higher the completion, the richer the rewards you shall receive."
"Please endeavor to earn nine starbursts to receive the highest reward of the Level 30 hidden trial!"
"—The starburst is your guide!"
Wu Xiaode quickly read through, feeling sowhat moved.
Mighty as the Bone Dragon, it had never completed a Level 30 hidden trial in the past.
Yet, he would use the Book of the Dead to explore the highest rewards of hidden tasks.
So it is!
The Book of the Dead must be used in the Death World to realize its true value!
