Outside the city.
A wasteland hundreds of miles from Holy City.
The Demon Spider lay on the ground, silent and still.
Suddenly.
A figure quietly erged.
It was the long-haired man.
He still wore a half-mask on his face, concealing his eyes, cheeks, and nose, leaving only his mouth, which held a cigarette, exposed.
"How could you co to Holy City so blatantly?" the long-haired man asked with a cold expression.
"I was teleported here," ca the voice of the Death God from within the Demon Spider.
"Teleported? Could it be that you encountered a being you couldn’t overco with force?" the long-haired man asked.
The voice of the Death God fluctuated slightly, even revealing a hint of rage:
"His strength isn’t anything special, just too despicable, too slippery, so I couldn’t catch him."
"So he’s a master of stealth?" the long-haired man inquired.
"Yes."
"Is this guy important?"
"Extrely important, he’s related to an important plan of the Demon God."
"...Alright, I will check each of the professionals who have just joined recently, one by one, and then find him."
The long-haired man was about to leave having said this.
"Wait a mont!" the voice of the Death God ca from the Demon Spider.
"What else?" the long-haired man asked.
"Give a body and let enter the city."
"Unless you find that guy, you cannot cause any trouble — after all, I just killed a renowned powerhouse, and now they are conducting a city-wide search."
"Don’t worry, he is my only target. I will be satisfied just catching him, and I won’t stir up any trouble."
"...Fine."
...
anwhile.
Wu Xiaode looked at the information displayed on the computer and asked, "How long can I stay now?"
A line of small text imdiately appeared on the screen:
"28 hours."
——That long, huh.
Then, can I have a al?
Without eating and resting, there is no Soul Power.
Without Soul Power, how can I fight against the professionals with B status?
Wu Xiaode put away his status plate and headed back, stopping in front of the restaurant again.
The sa waiter and the maid-dressed girl were still guarding the entrance.
——No need to bully them.
In fact, they are probably just ordinary people too, lucky to have been saved from the Demon God’s world harvest and now struggling here, not willing to go to the Death World.
Wu Xiaode walked straight up to the waiter and asked, "How much stay ti does it take to eat a al?"
"Three hours per dish," replied the waiter expressionlessly, then suddenly, his face turned impatient, and he waved his hand at soone behind Wu Xiaode:
"Scram, get lost! If you don’t have money, don’t hang around our shop’s entrance, you’re affecting our business!"
Wu Xiaode turned around.
He saw an emaciated old granny staring straight at the delicious dishes inside the restaurant, swallowing her saliva continuously.
She looked haggard, alternating between laughing and crying, her expression sowhat abnormal.
"Forget it, she’s ntally unstable. It’s clear she’s been accidentally saved and will have to go to the Death World when her ti cos. Why bother arguing with her?" the maid said, trying to calm things down.
"Do you think we have it easy? We can hardly attract a few guests, and our stay in this world is only getting shorter," the waiter complained indignantly.
Wu Xiaode scratched his head.
He looked again at the old granny.
She was wearing a clean and neat robe, her hair ticulously combed, and despite just standing there, she emanated an air of elegance.
——Such a pity she’s gone mad.
"Old lady, what are you doing here?" Wu Xiaode asked.
"I got separated from my son," the granny said blankly, "They all say he’s already dead, and I should be dead too, but I haven’t found him yet — isn’t this supposed to be the Death World?"
The waiter was about to curse again, but after hearing her words, he couldn’t bring himself to and instead muttered softly, "Guess it’s a case of a dead soul seeking another dead soul."
The maid also sighed.
Such tragic separations are nurous, it could even be said that each person has a sorrowful story behind them.
In front of the Demon God, all beings are re insects.
But will it always be like this?
Wu Xiaode thought of his own burden and rembered Zhao Zhibing, who had fallen for a trick.
It’s difficult to defeat the One-eyed Giant!
Almost impossible.
But nowadays, I’ve been learning more and more.
I am getting stronger.
Humanity can’t possibly be without hope forever.
With this thought, Wu Xiaode’s lips slightly curled up as he spoke softly, "May I know how to address you?"
"I’ve spent my life selling things at the market, people just call Granny Sun," said the old granny.
"Granny Sun, listen to . In order to have the energy to find your son, you have to be well-fed — co eat first, maybe after eating, you will go to where your son is," Wu Xiaode said.
"I have no money."
"Co with , I need company for the al. After eating, you can go look for your son, I’ll go to the arena. We both have goals worth striving for, how about it?"
"Thank you, young man."
Wu Xiaode helped Granny Sun and headed towards the restaurant.
The waiter looked at him as if he were a fool and said, "You’re really naive. How many hours do you have left? Tell , I want to hear?"
"Forget all that, let’s order. Just go with the standard five dishes," Wu Xiaode said.
"You’re asking for your own death—"
Smack!
Wu Xiaode sent him flying with a slap.
The doors of the restaurant burst open imdiately.
A man looking like a manager jumped out, shouting, "Making trouble for no reason? You’re asking to be sent to the Death World. I’m going to call the security professionals—"
"I’m here to eat. Your waiter here says I’m asking for death. Do you think that’s appropriate?" Wu Xiaode said with a smile.
The manager paused, glanced at the maid.
The maid nodded.
"But that’s no reason to hit soone. Hold on— You’re here to eat?" the manager said.
"Yes," Wu Xiaode asked.
"Please co in, co in! The custor is God, how can we possibly upset one?" the manager quickly said with an ingratiating smile.
The waiter scrambled up, rolling and crawling towards Wu Xiaode, reaching out to grab him.
A bronze hand suddenly materialized from the Void, grabbed his neck, and hoisted him in the air.
The waiter struggled furiously, trying to pry the bronze hand off, but it wouldn’t budge.
The bronze hand suddenly loosened its grip.
He fell to the ground, roaring, "Damn you, I swear today I’ll—"
"Fight in the ring?" Wu Xiaode interrupted with a smile.
The waiter froze.
"If you want to fight, we’ll fight in the ring. I’ll send you to the Death World to start anew. No need for argunt here, I’ve co to eat."
After speaking, Wu Xiaode walked into the restaurant, supporting the old lady.
Following behind him, the manager threw a sentence back to the waiter without turning his head:
"That’s enough, if you want to fight, go to the ring. Don’t make trouble in my restaurant. Oh, and you’re fired."
The doors of the restaurant closed.
The waiter stood at the entrance, wanting to push the door several tis.
He just stood there, and after a while, he looked at the remaining ti he had and finally, lacking the courage, he turned and left.
Wu Xiaode found a seat by the window, ordered five dishes and a soup, and also asked for a large portion of rice.
"Granny Sun, to et is to share a destiny, but I can’t help with your troubles. Let’s eat," he said.
He served the old lady a bowl of rice and held it out to her with both hands.
"Thank you, young man, but I feel the Death World calling ..." she said nervously.
"Eat before you go," Wu Xiaode said as he picked up so food.
Granny Sun hesitated for a long mont before picking up the chopsticks from the table, delicately picked up a shrimp and slled it underneath her nose.
"It slls delicious." She smiled.
"Then eat a little more," Wu Xiaode said.
"Young man, why are there fighting rings everywhere here? Do people nowadays love fighting that much?" Granny Sun asked.
"No one likes fighting. Among all thods of solving problems, it’s the most tireso and thankless," Wu Xiaode said.
"But you look like you’re ready to fight at any mont," Granny Sun said.
—This old lady sure does like to chat.
"I never bully anyone, only when I am forced with no other choice do I act," Wu Xiaode said.
"So there’s another reason?"
"Yes, a giant wanted to eat . I didn’t let it, so we had a fallout. Do you think it’s right, or am I?"
"If that’s the case, the giant is in the wrong."
"See?"
Wu Xiaode served her so food, signaling her to eat quickly.
Granny Sun shook her head, "No need, I should go look for my son, not sure what he’s up to..."
Her voice trailed off.
Suddenly, Granny Sun’s figure beca transparent.
Smiling, she reached out and pressed her hand on Wu Xiaode’s wrist, then vanished completely.
Wu Xiaode’s chopsticks paused.
—Was she off to the Death World then?
So many people’s joys and sorrows pale in comparison to the passage of ti.
Wu Xiaode continued to eat his food, burying his head in his al.
He enjoyed the food imnsely and even called the chef over to give proper praise since it was so well prepared.
—Hope the chef has a happy day too.
Just a mont later,
all the dishes on the table were wiped clean as if by a whirlwind.
Wu Xiaode looked over to the Book of the Dead subconsciously.
The Book of the Dead had opened, revealing several lines of ice crystal small print:
"You have received a blessed red string."
"This is a red string that people use to pray for safety and blessings and possesses the usual kind of blessings."
"—Crafted by Granny Sun herself."
"Furthermore, through rest and al, you have recovered a bit of Soul Power."
"Current Soul Power: 3/19."
Wu Xiaode glanced at the red string on his wrist.
—It truly was just an ordinary string.
But it was the thought that counted.
Having finished eating, he stood up and headed towards the exit of the restaurant.
Three points of Soul Power...
Let’s check out the level of combat in the B area.
If possible, try a fight and see how it goes.
