"Kabuto, are we leaving?"
Jūgo had also seen the mushroom cloud blooming on the distant horizon. In his senses, the natural energy in the direction of Iwagakure was too chaotic to look at directly. It had been shaken violently by terrifying aftershocks.
"Then we'll leave Iwagakure for now."
Kabuto had no intention of lingering near Iwagakure any longer. He had already realized that his Impure World Reincarnation was still not mature enough. He needed to lie low for a while and perfect the forbidden technique first.
Besides, he still had plenty of Ōnoki's tissue samples. As long as he wanted to, he could summon the reanimated Ōnoki again at any ti.
"For the next while, I need to continue researching Impure World Reincarnation, and I also need to dig up the bodies of powerful shinobi from the major villages."
"On top of that, it would be best if I could obtain Hashirama Senju's cells."
"The Hashirama cells in Orochimaru's bases were all taken away by Black Zetsu, but obtaining those cells is very important for ."
"If I really revive Uchiha Madara according to Black Zetsu's plan, then I need a powerful ans to ensure Madara will resurrect the director…"
Kabuto kept thinking it through.
Since Uchiha Madara had stood on equal footing with Hashirama Senju, then in Kabuto's mind, the only person capable of restraining Madara was Hashirama himself.
Kabuto and Jūgo left decisively, but back in Iwagakure, silence hung over the village.
Kitsuchi looked at the place in the sky where Ōnoki had stood, then at Han, whose arm had still not recovered even after undoing his partial tailed-beast transformation. His face could hardly have looked worse.
"A jutsu that toys with the dead…"
"How can such an evil ninjutsu exist in the shinobi world?"
Kitsuchi's hatred for the mastermind who had controlled Ōnoki and forced him to attack Iwagakure had reached an extre.
But at the sa ti, he was afraid.
Afraid that the mastermind might keep sending Ōnoki to attack Iwagakure again and again.
If that truly happened, then with Ōnoki alone, that mastermind might actually drag Iwagakure into ruin.
"Anyone with this much malice toward Iwagakure is either from Kumogakure or the Akatsuki."
"Kumogakure shouldn't be capable of developing a jutsu this evil. But if it's the Akatsuki…"
Rōshi, his skin still streaked with blood, walked up to Kitsuchi with an equally grim expression.
Ōnoki's death should have been sothing Rōshi welcod.
But now, he actually wished Ōnoki were still alive. No matter how he looked at it, Iwagakure was now in an extrely dangerous position.
"Send letters to the Kage of the Five Great Nations. Tell the other nations about this incident as well. Tell them the Akatsuki now possesses the power to overthrow the shinobi world, and that the Five Great Villages must unite."
After a long silence, Kitsuchi forced out those words.
He didn't know whether the reanimated Ōnoki had truly been the Akatsuki's doing, but whether it was or wasn't, Kitsuchi had already decided to dump the bla on them.
As Iwagakure's letters were sent out, the other villages gradually received the news as well.
Compared to the other villages, though, Konoha's reaction was the most awkward.
After all, the other villages might not know much about the forbidden technique called Impure World Reincarnation, but Hiruzen Sarutobi and Tsunade did. One was the disciple of the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, and the other was Tobirama's grandniece. How could they not know about that jutsu?
"The only person in the shinobi world who should have mastered Impure World Reincarnation was Orochimaru, correct?"
"I looked over that forbidden technique before too, but it was far too evil. I only practiced it a few tis…"
Hiruzen looked at the intelligence report in his hand and, with surprisingly little guilt, admitted to Tsunade that he also knew the forbidden technique of Impure World Reincarnation.
That said, Hiruzen had learned it a very long ti ago—so long ago that he had only recently inherited the Hokage position at the ti. Back then, he had intended to keep Impure World Reincarnation as a last resort.
If Konoha ever faced a truly unbeatable crisis, Hiruzen had been prepared to summon the First and Second Hokage with Edo Tensei.
"Orochimaru really is dead. The curse mark on Anko Mitarashi's neck has disappeared too."
"I'm not completely sure what that curse mark was, but it was definitely one of Orochimaru's backup plans."
Tsunade was certain Orochimaru was dead. Anko was now working under her, and she had asked Tsunade about the curse mark on her neck before.
"If it wasn't Orochimaru, then that ans soone else has mastered Impure World Reincarnation?"
Hiruzen frowned.
He himself avoided using the technique because it was too evil, but if soone else had gotten their hands on it, then every major village would have to worry about whether that person might reanimate soone terrifying.
"Iwagakure claims the Akatsuki has mastered Impure World Reincarnation. And based on our recent sweep of Orochimaru's bases, we've basically confird that Orochimaru really did join the Akatsuki."
"Could Orochimaru have handed Impure World Reincarnation over to them?"
Homura Mitokado spoke up as well.
Since Tsunade took office, his workload had increased considerably. After all, Tsunade really didn't like handling administrative matters—but when sothing did require her direct attention, she showed no rcy at all.
"That possibility is high."
"The Akatsuki… it seems they really are going to beco another disaster for the shinobi world."
Tsunade frowned. She had never even heard of this organization before, but as ti passed, the strength the Akatsuki revealed only grew more and more astonishing.
"Where's Chizumi?"
"Has he still not returned from the Grass Country?"
Hiruzen asked about Uchiha Chizumi's whereabouts again.
With the Akatsuki revealing such terrifying strength, Hiruzen felt it would be best for Chizumi to return to the village as soon as possible.
After all, after seeing what happened to Iwagakure, he was now worried that Konoha might one day get hit by the Akatsuki the sa way.
"He's already on his way back."
"The ninja at the border said they saw Chizumi flying back, but he…"
Tsunade hesitated.
Uchiha Chizumi had indeed returned to the Land of Fire after dealing with the Grass Country, but the events in the Grass Country had clearly reminded him of sothing. Now, Chizumi had begun sweeping through the Land of Fire again.
Still, as Konoha's Police Force slowly spread throughout the Land of Fire, even though the others didn't have Chizumi's eyes that could see through sin, the Land of Fire's public safety and order could already be called the best in the shinobi world.
"Uh…"
Hiruzen and Homura listened to Tsunade trail off and more or less guessed what Uchiha Chizumi was doing now.
But suddenly, they realized sothing strange.
They seed to have beco able to accept Uchiha Chizumi's actions.
