Capítulo 1296: Chapter 2: Shhh!

Damn it, where the hell am I? At this mont, Xiao Jie could only think of this one sentence in his mind.

Looking around, there was nothing but a dead silence.

The land was a withered yellow, devoid of any vegetation, not even a blade of grass—withered yellow, nothing but withered yellow.

The broken ruins stretched endlessly; weathered so thoroughly that it was impossible to discern what the original structures might have been—now they were just remnants nearly annihilated by ti.

This wasteland spread forward endlessly, its extent unknown.

Xiao Jie’s gaze slowly shifted upwards to the sky above. The originally bright blue sky had been replaced by dense clouds of black and yellow, with the sunlight being dim—barely casting a few rays through the clouds.

In those strange black clouds, weird red lightning occasionally flickered and vanished, with the clouds hanging so low they seed to almost touch his head.

Xiao Jie could feel that those clouds harbored so kind of terrifying power, eagerly waiting for prey to walk into its trap.

He glanced at the Monster’s corpse on the ground—’Immortal’ Hunter, so this thing was specifically targeting Immortals? Placed here to block the entrance, it couldn’t just be a coincidence.

He looked around; the previous illusionary traps were clearly set up in advance.

He glanced again at the na on the small map—Returning Ho Platform, which ant this should be the landing point for returnees to the Great Thousand Worlds.

Considering these three points together, it ant soone was camping to kill players!

He looked at the sky again; he was now certain there was definitely an ambush set there too.

Damn!

Never thought I’d start with a death trap right out of the gate.

Who the hell designed this ga? The ga experience is terrible, not even soul system starts are this miserable.

Could it be that the six Demon Lords have noticed I’m the Boss in the ga and sent followers to camp the players early on?

No way, if the six Demon Lords really acted, it wouldn’t be just this kind of test.

But whether or not they were sent by the Demon Lords, the current situation is more of a trap than he expected.

No worries, Xiao Jie reassured himself, I’m the Chosen One, no conspiracy can work. I’m a pro player; as long as the world stays within the ga’s frawork, I can clear and conquer it.

What’s a Saint to fear, what’s a Demon Lord to fear? I bear the Heavenly Dao, watch how I take each one of you down.

With this in mind, flipping the bird towards the sky, he resolutely walked out of the ruins.

No matter what, first get out of this area.

But evidently, Xiao Jie underestimated the harshness of this post-apocalyptic wasteland.

The dim yellow sunlight was peculiarly scorching, making him feel like an ant under a lamp, burning all over and unbearably hot.

The air entering his lungs robbed him of moisture and vitality with every breath.

After walking in the ruins for a short while, Xiao Jie felt an exhausting weariness from within.

(It shouldn’t be like this, I’m an Immortal, how can I feel tired?) Xiao Jie wondered.

He glanced at his Spiritual Energy Value—for an Immortal, it determined energy consumption for mana, energy, and inner strength—but right now, it wasn’t full, almost none of the thousands of points spent battling the Spirit Stealing Beast had recovered.

Okay, it’s not entirely stagnant, but it takes several minutes to restore even a single point.

Damn, this isn’t good. Xiao Jie muttered to himself, this Land of Withered Spirits actually restricts the recovery rate of an Immortal’s Spiritual Energy.

Logically, an Immortal’s Spiritual Energy should self-renew and not be limited like this. It seems this area isn’t just the Land of Withered Spirits; whoever set the trap probably also established a Barrier.

After walking a while longer, Xiao Jie felt increasingly exhausted. The surrounding ruins seed endless, stretching out in withered, decaying colors, his legs growing heavy as if filled with lead. With discomfort welling from every part of his body, self-pity welled up in Xiao Jie’s heart.

(Damn it, as an Immortal, why do I have to suffer this? I’m arguably the best player in the ga, yet why do I have to endure this while others don’t?)

(Wait a minute, no one really forced to co here, but why did I have to run to this ghost of a place, as an Immortal?)

(Xiao Jie, you idiot, what’s with trying to play the big hero and save the world? Watched too many Hollywood movies, did you? Why not just stay on Earth and be the boss, doing whatever you please with your abilities?)

The more he thought about it, the dumber he felt, suddenly feeling exasperated.

Looking up, the path ahead was still endless, surrounded only by desolate ruins, and the thought of being trapped in this godforsaken place for a lifeti filled him with unexpected sadness and fury, leading him to let out a wild howl.

“Ahhhhh!”

“Shh!” A deliberately hushed voice suddenly sounded behind him.

What the hell! Startled, Xiao Jie almost broke into a cold sweat, hastily turning around, only to find no one there.

Was it an illusion?

Xiao Jie skeptically observed his surroundings, but having not found the source of the hush, he suddenly beca aware.

Why had his emotions suddenly swung so wildly? n don’t have mood swings like that.

Normally, he’s so calm—infallibly steady no matter what disaster looms, so why did he suddenly lapse into self-pity just facing this little trouble?
