While Xiao Buli was feeling anxious, a clear and lofty voice suddenly ca from the sky, "Hahaha, Xuanxu Zi, the old fool, I've sealed the Armored Xuan Lion, and today will be your doom." As the voice grew closer, Qingfeng Mingyue descended from the sky and turned to Gu Yuexuan and Xiao Buli, saying, "I'm here as protector, you two can fight without restraint."
"Qingfeng Mingyue, how could you betray our master?!" Jingci was both shocked and puzzled. Why would their eldest senior brother, who had always shown such respect to their master, suddenly rebel, and even the junior brother who had not been in the Sect for long...
"Master? Hmph, my master passed away thirty years ago. The one before us is nothing but a demon who robbed my master's body. I owe no loyalty to him, so where does the talk of betrayal co from? It's just that I'm too weak, allowing him to boss us around for thirty years and even putting master's hundred years of foundation at stake! Jingci was startled upon hearing this, but he had no mory of Xuantian the Daoist or of Xuantian Palace; it was the master who had raised him and taught him martial arts and skills. Therefore, even though Qingfeng Mingyue spoke convincingly, Jingci couldn't accept the claim that their master was a demon.
Ji Xiangyun, however, had begun to guess the truth from their conversations. Like Jingci, he ca to Mystic Hollow Palace after the body snatching, so he didn't have much attachnt to the previous Xuantian Palace. Therefore, after listening to Qingfeng Mingyue, although he had so doubts about the master's character, he made up his mind to stand by the master to the end, which was the only way to honor years of the master's nurturing.
While both of them were struggling internally, suddenly a fla ignited, and a blue light screen erged around Ji Xiangyun, transporting her in a flash from where she was. Jingci beca anxious. Just as he attempted to act, a flash of fire appeared, and he too entered into a space of emptiness.
"Where is this?" Ji Xiangyun looked nervously at the boundless darkness surrounding her. Opposite her, Gu Yuexuan stood with his sword drawn, looking at her with a complex expression.
"This is..." Ji Xiangyun murmured to herself, pondering for a mont before asking loudly, "Is this the defensive array attached to the Mystic Hollow Palace's barrier? The Qiankun Two-Yi Formation?"
Just like the Immortal Realm, Mystic Hollow Palace had been fortified by ancient Immortals with protective barriers to ward off foreign invaders. The maze that Xiao Buli had experienced was part of it. This barrier was extrely complex; besides repelling invaders, it also contained arrays against enemies who managed to enter Mystic Hollow Palace. As entrance to the palace required considerable martial arts proficiency, the internal arrays were far more formidable than those outside the palace. And since ordinary people could hardly enter the Mystic Hollow Palace, Ji Xiangyun, though having heard about the internal arrays for years, had never seen them. Suddenly being sealed in a different space, she imdiately thought of the palace's defensive Qiankun Two-Yi Formation.
The Qiankun Two-Yi Formation, as the na suggests, was divided into two parts. It was said to be able to separate enemies, regardless of whether they were back-to-back or hugging each other. Once in the formation, they would surely enter two separate spaces. Masters of their Sect could then stand at the eye of both formations, either remaining invisible, trapping their prey until death, or showing themselves to fight.
The Array was divided into Yin and Yang parts, and based on attributes, split into Water and Fire Elents. Judging by the current space, Ji Xiangyun felt she should be in Yin's part, pertaining to the Water Elent, which ant that Water Spells here would have enhanced power, while Fire Elent spells would be much less effective.
"You know how to activate the Qiankun Two-Yi Formation?" Ji Xiangyun asked in surprise. Since entering the Sect, although all three had their strengths, the master had been fair to everyone. It made no sense that the Sect's protective formation would be taught to the eldest senior brother but not to them.
"I guess it's Qingfeng Mingyue who activated the formation," answered Gu Yuexuan, "To break through the formation, you need to defeat the one who guards it. Since it's Qingfeng Mingyue who ford the array, I guess I'm the one you need to defeat."
Upon entering the formation, Gu Yuexuan felt no rush. He never intended to harm Jingci or Ji Xiangyun, but circumstances had forced him to act. Now that the battle situation was out of their hands, Gu Yuexuan had an idea: just wait it out. If Xuan Zhen defeats Xuanxu Zi, this fight would co to an end.
Ji Xiangyun, however, had a different idea. Holding her sword horizontally, she sneered and said, "Fine, it looks like I'll have to defeat you to escape today."
But Gu Yuexuan gave Ji Xiangyun a slight smile. Although there wasn't much difference in appearance due to his cultivation, Gu Yuexuan was actually much older. He had watched this junior sister grow up, treating her with affection despite his general reserve due to wariness of Xuanxu Zi. Seeing her draw her sword and challenging him, he only found it amusing, as if a five-year-old girl was threatening to defeat a grown man.
