The voice was very calm, yet shockingly abrupt, causing the girl to shrink her neck. Xiao Buli glanced towards the kitchen doorway. At the entrance of the kitchen, Lu Xinying looked at the girl with a trace of regret.
(She's pretty good-looking, not as much as Wu though, but very pure. Too bad you saw us.) Lu Xinying thought to himself.
"I'm really sorry you saw our faces, but I have to kill you," said Lu Xinying as he pulled out a dagger and walked towards the girl. Xiao Buli, however, drew his sword like lightning, placing it between them, "There's no need for that," he said indifferently.
"But she saw us," Lu Xinying's advance was stopped by the sword, yet his gaze remained fixed on the girl's neck. The girl kept retreating backward, but the kitchen was so small, where could she hide?
"I said there's no need for that, put the knife down, or you'll be the one doing the saving." Xiao Buli's voice was flat but resolute. He knew the girl seeing them might cause a bit of trouble, but he was not the kind of person who could indiscriminately kill the innocent.
Lu Xinying's gaze landed on Xiao Buli's face, and after locking eyes for a while, suddenly he broke into a very bright smile, "Heh, I'm just kidding, did you really think I'd kill soone just like that? Haha, look how scared you got."
With a flick of his hand, the dagger miraculously disappeared from his grasp.
"Ah, it slls so good, who would've thought Elder Xiao was also a good cook." Lu Xinying deliberately emphasized the words 'Elder Xiao.' Xiao Buli gave him a glare, but it seed as if Lu Xinying was completely oblivious to his own slip of the tongue.
Xiao Buli was clear in his mind, this guy was forcing his hand. He did not speak, just coldly gazed at Lu Xinying, and perhaps feeling the chill in his eyes, Lu Xinying finally stopped talking.
"Shall we go straight to the base after we finish eating?"
Lu Xinying shook his head, "The Qilin Group is still after you, we need to shake them off first. Otherwise, it would be troubleso if they followed us to the base."
Xiao Buli nodded, "Indeed, the base is so important, it absolutely cannot be discovered by the Qilin Group."

The girl nodded hastily, but Xiao Buli added, "If soone asks about us, never say we were here, and especially do not ntion anything about the base, understand?"
The girl nodded again.
Only then did Xiao Buli nod in satisfaction, leading Lu Xinying as they walked out.
"You know if she gets interrogated, she won't be able to keep a secret," Lu Xinying reminded from behind. Xiao Buli just smiled and nodded, "Of course, I know."
The girl watched them disappear behind the wall and then collapsed weakly on the floor.
This was the place, Yan Zhong stood in front of the two cars that were crashed together. His bone dice had led them here and indeed they had found so clues, although it seed they were still not enough.
Lin Beifeng had tidied up, his shaggy beard and hair had been roughly put in order, thanks to Dian Lan's efforts. However, his spirit still seed a bit unstable.
"Let sniff," Lin Beifeng got down on the ground and sniffed fiercely, passersby looked strangely at the group, but upon eting Dian Lan's cold gaze, they all scurried away.
"They headed towards the town," Lin Beifeng pointed down a small path and said.
Wang Lei looked at the moisture-laden ground after the rain with so disbelief, "You can sll that? For real?"
"Not sll, see. Did you not see those two rows of footprints on the ground?" Lin Beifeng said as he pointed at the muddy tracks. Unlike the ssy footprints, these were very shallow, very light, as if the person who left them weighed next to nothing.
Wang Lei laughed awkwardly, "I truly didn't notice them."
Yan Zhong, however, said, "Cut the chatter, let's follow them."
Soon, the group of four stopped in front of a large residence.
"This is the place, let's go in and take a look."
The gate was opened, and the four n filed in. Upon entering, they saw a girl pouring cold water on a large dog, which seed a bit dazed, shaking off water droplets and yawning. When the dog saw the four n enter, it paused, then suddenly started barking loudly.
While barking, it charged towards them, but just as it was about to approach, Lin Beifeng suddenly bared his teeth and barked, "Woof!" The dog was so frightened that it tucked its tail and retreated back into its kennel.
"Who are you people!?" the girl asked, seeming extrely scared. Yan Zhong gave Dian Lan a look, signaling her to question the girl.
"Have you seen this person?" Dian Lan said as she held out a photo from a contract.
"No, I haven't seen them," the girl stamred with a flickering gaze, but Lin Beifeng suddenly sniffed and said, "Her body temperature just rose by 3 degrees, she's lying."
"Of course I know she's lying," Dian Lan said as she pulled out a dagger, a cruel smile appearing at the corner of her mouth, "I think you'll soon realize how big a mistake you've made."
In fact, the girl surrendered imdiately; after all, she was just an ordinary girl, not a trained spy or agent. Faced with the nacing fourso and their knives, she quickly beca incoherent, spilling everything she knew.
"So you're saying that guy ca here last night? When did he leave, and who was the other person?"
"He left about an hour ago," the girl said, desperate to avoid harm. She then described Lu Xinying's appearance again, although Lu Xinying really didn't have any distinctive features, so Dian Lan couldn't recall who she was even after such a long explanation.
However, Yan Zhong caught on, "Don't bother, that person must be the one who's been feeding us information."
"Damn it, I knew that guy was up to no good," Wang Lei cursed.
Dian Lan rolled her eyes at him, hating the tendency for hindsight. "So, did they ntion anything else?" she asked while flashing her knife for emphasis.
The girl thought hard and said, "I rember now, they ntioned so sort of base, a very important place, but they had to shake off the Qilin Group before they could go there. He also told I mustn't speak of this to anyone, I've told you everything—please let go," she pleaded as she broke into tears.
The four exchanged glances, and Lin Beifeng said, "What she says is the truth." After speaking, he looked at Yan Zhong, waiting for his decision.
