Situ Yu suddenly found herself with a mysterious new skill and felt very strange.
(When did I learn this skill? Does every new player co with an initial skill? And why do the na and description of this skill seem so similar to the Grasping Enemy Fist I practice normally?) She glanced curiously at the person next to her, a plump individual engrossed in controlling their character, laboriously tilling a field with an invested look.
"Hey handso, can I ask you sothing?"
Upon turning and seeing a rather pleasing-looking girl, the chubby guy imdiately smiled brightly, "Sure, what do you want to ask?"
Situ Yu asked, "Do you have an initial skill?"
"Initial skill? I don't think so, why do you ask?" the chubby one asked sowhat curiously.
"Nothing much, just curious," Situ Yu didn't elaborate any further. She felt there must be so reason for it, but then laughed at herself for being silly. It was just a ga, not the reason she ca here, so why fuss over it? With that thought, she didn't take it to heart anymore.
Xiao Buli was at that mont studying new skill combinations, and he had actually co up with a few.
Chain Sword Strike Touch of Healing, fusion success rate 87%.
Taming Skills Summon Rune Soldier, fusion success rate 84%.
Leaping from Dry Land Earth Escape Skills, fusion success rate 76%.
He had never thought of these skill combinations before because, in his view, they were entirely different types of skills and fusions would be impossible, so he hadn't experinted with them. However, due to the bizarre nature of Cloud Thunder Leap, he deliberately tested them and found the fusion rates to be unexpectedly high.
But what kind of skills would they fuse into? Taming Skills and Summon Rune Soldier were sowhat similar, but Chain Sword Strike and Touch of Healing were like mixing oil with water. Could it be that if he struck the enemy with his sword, the injuries they sustained would heal? That seed too preposterous.
The combination of Leaping from Dry Land Earth Escape was even more absurd, one going up and the other going down, how could they possibly be fused? Maybe after fusion, it would turn into an ability to leap straight through the ceiling. That seed a bit possible.
However, curious as he was, he didn't dare to fuse them carelessly at the mont. After all, they were very important skills to him, and if the fusion went wrong, it would be a disaster.
Perhaps he should stack up his Luck Value a bit more before attempting, or obtain a Luck BUFF, which would most likely affect the success rate of skill fusion.
Thinking of this, Xiao Buli beca curious about the Luck attribute. The effect of this attribute was so magical that it could already affect the rules of reality. What kind of principle had given this ga such a powerful ability? Surely it couldn't be explained by gaming or another world.
A bell ringing interrupted his thoughts. Xiao Buli looked at the ti and realized it was lunchti.
He hurriedly exited the ga and shouted to the new players, "Alright, everyone can put down their work now, it's lunchti. Continue after eating. Next, I'll show you the company's cafeteria, and I believe you will enjoy the food here."
Situ Yu hadn't initially taken Xiao Buli's words to heart, as the als provided in the bureau were exceptionally awful, and it was fairly common to end up with boxed lunches or instant noodles. However, upon arriving at the cafeteria, she realized that Xiao Buli hadn't exaggerated.
The food offered looked fresh, nutritious, delicious, and hygienic, almost on par with the best-decorated luxury buffet restaurants.
The cafeteria wasn't crowded, and many tables were unoccupied, making it feel sowhat empty. After a brief inquiry, she learned that it was because mbers of the Green Dragon Group and White Tiger Group couldn't log on at the mont, which had made al tis more flexible.
As she was eating lunch and thinking about her next move, a group of uniford people walked in, laughing and joking. Each one had the emblem of the Azure Dragon on their chest, which she recognized as the insignia of the Green Dragon Group, and she couldn't help but pay attention.
Suddenly, one of the figures caught her eye—a girl with a strong Gothic look, sitting at the Green Dragon group's table. To her surprise, it was soone she knew, a pickpocket she had arrested twice before when she was in the anti-theft squad. The girl's na seed to be Yaoyao. Her mory of the girl was of soone very gloomy, and it was a blast from the past to see her here.
A smile ford on the corner of her mouth. Perhaps she could get so information out of her.
She knew the traits of such people well: they feared discussions of their past the most, especially since pickpocketing wasn't an honorable occupation. If soone found out, it would surely be embarrassing for them. So, She wasn't worried that Yaoyao would dare to reveal her identity, and such tarnished individuals tended to be sowhat scared of the police.
When the gothic girl had lazily chosen her lunch and was sitting in a corner eating slowly, Situ Yu quietly walked over.
"Hello there." She winked at Yaoyao, who imdiately felt a bit nervous on recognizing her, but quickly regained her composure.
"What are you doing here?" Yaoyao asked defensively, the unpleasant mories of the past surfacing again, which irritated her.
"Relax, I'm not here to catch you, you're not that attractive." Situ Yu said, lowering her voice, "I want to know sothing about the company, seeing as we're old friends, could you help out?"
"The company?" Yaoyao laughed upon hearing her words, a seductive smile playing on her lips, "I get it, our great police officer is here to fight cri, right? Unfortunately, I'm afraid you'll be leaving empty-handed. As far as I know, you're not soone who can ss with this company's background. I suggest you go back to catching petty thieves.
After all, those who are reduced to theft don't have any profound background, and catching them would be the perfect way for you to make a rit, wouldn't it?"
Yaoyao's tone was clearly sarcastic, implying that she only picks on the weak and is afraid of those with real backing, only daring to go after insignificant characters. This made Situ Yu very uncomfortable, especially since there was likely truth in those words—after all, the chief had warned her more than once to stay away from certain cases.
"I don't care about its background, you think I wouldn't know if this company had one? But here I am. I only believe in justice." Situ Yu stated righteously, feeling an inexplicable sense of martyrdom swell within her.
Hearing this, Yaoyao shook her head, both amused and annoyed, seemingly admiring Situ Yu's conviction, yet there seed to be sothing else mixed in, "Alright then, if you really want to know, I'll tell you. But I'm afraid you might not believe it."
This response caught Situ Yu by surprise.
"Aren't you afraid of the company's background?"
"Afraid? How could I not be? But it's pretty much an open secret, and sooner or later you would find out anyway, so it doesn't matter if I tell you now." As Yaoyao spoke, she once again lowered her voice, revealing a little of the ga's secret.
After hearing what she said, Situ Yu felt like she had heard a poor joke, "You an to say that whatever you experience in this ga reflects back into reality? Are you joking?"
Yaoyao seed to have anticipated this reaction, "If you don't believe it, why don't you try committing suicide in the ga, then you'll know if I'm telling the truth or not."
"Commit suicide in the ga? What does that have to do with what you're saying? It's not like dying in the ga ans you'll also die in reality…"
Situ Yu suddenly stopped, shocked by her own thoughts.
Could it be that those employees died in the ga and thus died in real life too? Impossible, such things can't happen! That's what her mind scread, yet the causes of death for those victims kept surfacing before her. If what Yaoyao said was true, it would explain everything, but how could it possibly be true?
She glanced at Yaoyao who was observing her with an amused look, and suddenly felt like she was being made a fool of.
"Let's drop it then. But just to be clear, if you dare disclose my identity, I'll expose yours too."
Yaoyao nodded, "Looks like we both have things we'd rather keep secret, eh? Alright, I agree."
Situ Yu suddenly felt a sense of defeat. Yaoyao was much more confident than she expected, seemingly unafraid of the effect her past might have, nor intimidated by Situ Yu's police identity. It was as if sothing had invisibly changed Yaoyao, endowing her with a strange charm, and Situ Yu even had the feeling that Yaoyao was completely transford.
After lunch, Situ Yu continued her undercover work. This ti she was determined to show her capabilities, although the ga ans little to her, performing too poorly might get her fired, which would be bad.
So, as soon as she was on the computer, she planned to improve her strength in the ga. Though her gaming skills were no match for those of professional players, she had her advantages. Over lunch, by casually using her charm, she got quite a bit of information about the ga from other new players.
From that information, she discovered that this ga was indeed weird, completely different from anything currently on the market, seemingly difficult.
However, the information provided by the newcors was too little. After giving it so thought, she decided to work on the two new player ntors to see if she could gain more advantages.
The two ntors were quite different in character, the strong man in sunglasses looked indifferent and seed difficult to approach. Compared to him, the other seed much more approachable. So, when that person logged into their character, Situ Yu quietly walked over.
"Hey, can I ask you a few questions?" (
