281: Chapter 188, The Living Dead!

281: Chapter 188, The Living Dead!

A person who had died seven years ago was resurrected and then killed again by Little Fatty.

What kind of move was that?

Tang Fei looked at Zhao Youguang and asked, “So what do we do?

Aren’t you guys the police?

Isn’t it your duty to find the murderer and uncover the truth?”

“It’s indeed our duty, but so things are beyond our jurisdiction…”

Zhao Youguang pulled a cigarette out of his pocket, lit it with a spark, and after taking a puff, he looked at Tang Fei and said, “Bro, it’s not that we’re unwilling to investigate, but so things are simply troubleso for us…

Our hearts are willing, but our strength falls short, you get what I an?”

“What did your leader say?” Tang Fei inquired.

Since Phoenix had called for soone to handle the matter, then his superiors must be one of those ‘leaders’ closely following the incident.

If he had directly received Phoenix’s call, that proved he was well aware his own identity was far from simple…

That man had powerful support too.

Behind him stood an Empire Princess.

So, was he willing to offend the military, or would he choose to offend the Princess?

Tang Fei even felt so sympathy for them, knowing he would be in a tough spot if confronted with such a situation.

“It was he who told to inform you guys of the truth,” said Zhao Youguang.

“I understand,” Tang Fei nodded and responded, “Thank you for your trouble this ti.”

“Why be so polite?

Didn’t you just say it’s our duty as police officers?”

Zhao Youguang waved his hand and turned to walk towards the direction where the police cars were parked.

Little Fatty ca over and asked, “Big brother, how did it go?

Have you found out the identity of that thief?”

“I have,” Tang Fei said, “But it might have been better not to have found out.”

“Why?” Little Fatty asked, puzzled.

“His identity is too complex,” Tang Fei replied with a furrowed brow.

Could it be related to the military?

Which faction’s people had they sent over?

What exactly were they here to find?

The Royal Family?

The Nine Major Families?

Or soone else?

Tang Fei knew that he could not find the murderer just by relying on his own power.

So, he made a video call to Phoenix.

The call was quickly answered, and Phoenix’s figure appeared on the virtual screen.

Phoenix was dressed in a red tracksuit, practicing in the yard, her long hair simply tied into a ponytail, which made her look youthful, vibrant, and playful.

For a mont, Tang Fei was a bit captivated and forgot what he was supposed to say.

Phoenix let out a ‘pfft’ of laughter and teasingly said, “You called proactively, why don’t you speak?”

“I thought you were still in the hospital, but you’re back at your Phoenix Pavilion,” Tang Fei said as he ca back to his senses.

Phoenix gave Tang Fei a coquettish side glance and responded, “With such an incident happening at my ho, could I not co back?”

“You’re saying it’s the Eldest Prince…”

Tang Fei knew that the incident at White Crane Academy involving the Eldest Prince was a big scandal for the Royal Family.

The fact that Phoenix was summoned back to the Palace at this particular ti indicated a close connection to the incident.

“Alright, alright.

That’s enough…” Phoenix quickly cut Tang Fei off.

She had also seen that video and, on one hand, found it disgustingly nauseating, just thinking of it made it hard to eat.

She hadn’t even had breakfast because she was practicing.

On the other hand, the male lead in the video was her brother, and she didn’t want her brother to beco the butt of everyone’s jokes…

And she certainly didn’t want him to beco a laughing stock for Tang Fei to talk about.

Other people mocking him, she didn’t care.

After all, they were all unrelated to her.

But Tang Fei was different; he was soone she cared about.

“Then let’s not talk about your brother’s issue,” Tang Fei said, understanding Phoenix’s thoughts, “The police have already sent over the investigation results.”

“How is it?

Did you get a clear ID?”

“They did a DNA test on the thief, his identity has been confird, but he’s been dead for seven years already…”

Phoenix looked surprised and said, “You’re telling the thief who broke into your ho is a dead person?

Dead for seven years already?”

“Yes,” Tang Fei nodded, “That’s what the police found when they checked the archives.”

“How can this be?

If they hadn’t examined the body back then, how could they have filed a death report?

Reporting a death is not an easy matter; it requires several procedures and signatures from many departnts…”

“I’m not sure about that,” Tang Fei said with a smile, “At that ti, I was still hunting rabbits in the Old Land.”

“The police didn’t go further with their investigation?

Why can soone who was supposed to be dead seven years ago be breaking into hos and stealing?”

“They dare not investigate.”

Phoenix’s eyes turned slightly stern as she asked, “Where’s the resistance coming from?”

“That person joined the Undying Army many years ago and was reported to have died on a mission…

The police said they wouldn’t dare to offend the Military Departnt.”

“The Undying Army?” Phoenix fell silent.

With the military involved, it wasn’t sothing she could inquire about casually.

Even though she was an Empire Princess, ddling in military affairs could attract endless trouble.

What would the Military Departnt think?

More importantly, what would her father think?

What about her brother?

She couldn’t contact the military leaders directly.

If she went through her brother or her father with this issue, she’d have to disclose the whole truth…

They both disliked Tang Fei, and if they knew she was involving them because of Tang Fei’s affairs, it could backfire on him.

She wanted to help Tang Fei but didn’t want to harm him.
