Mrs. Gong was cleaning the house and smiled as she welcod Gong Liang ho. First, she curiously examined the coconut, looking it over and over, even tapping it on the ground. After confirming it was indeed hard, she put it back in the burlap sack and went to the coal stove to boil water for Gong Liang.

For Mrs. Gong, these new and strange things, even if they are fruits, are precious. If they get damaged, it would be a waste of money, so it's better not to touch them if possible.

"Xiao Liang, Mingzhu hasn't finished work yet. Later, don't forget to pick her up from work. You've been in Qiong Province for over a month. There are snacks that Master Jing made a while ago in the cupboard. Take them with you when you pick up Mingzhu, and say sothing nice. Mom has already tidied up your room. We're having braised pork and chestnut chicken for dinner tonight," Mrs. Gong said spiritedly, "Tomorrow night, we're going to eat at the State owned Restaurant."

"Eating at the State owned Restaurant?" Gong Liang was a bit surprised, "Even for Mid-Autumn Festival… there's no need to go to the State owned Restaurant."

"Master Jing is treating," Mrs. Gong said, "Didn't Zheng Da and Shengli go to the train station to pick you up? Didn't they tell you that Master Jing has retired?"

"Master Jing has retired?!" Gong Liang was shocked, "Why did he suddenly retire so abruptly? During the New Year, didn't Master Jing say he would work for two more years before retiring?"

"It was just half a month ago. Master Jing caught a little cold half a month ago, which wasn't a big deal initially, but it lingered for 10 days without getting better. Later, he went to the hospital, and the doctor ntioned that staying in the kitchen for too long is bad for the throat or sothing. Now that Shengli and Zheng Da have been officially promoted, the two of them urged Master Jing to retire early and take good care of himself, so he retired early."

"But he hasn't completely retired. He's still going to the State owned Restaurant every day, just not handling the cooking as much."

"Master Jing said he has worked at the State owned Restaurant for so many years, always as the lone chef, and has received a lot of support from fellow community mbers over the years. Now that he's retiring, he wants to gather everyone and treat them to a reunion al at the State owned Restaurant."

"Originally, this al was supposed to be eaten half a month ago, but you were still in Qiong Province and hadn't returned. Master Jing said to wait until you ca back to have the al. Four days ago, you called ho and said you'd arrive today, and since it coincidentally aligns with Mid-Autumn Festival tomorrow, it's scheduled for tomorrow."

"I thought Zheng Da and Shengli would tell you about it. What were you talking about on your way back? In my opinion, Zheng Da is not that young anymore. Now that his job is official, he should settle down and find soone instead of being so untethered every day."

"You don't know; for a while now, Zheng Da's fernted rice with stead buns has been causing quite a bit of grumbling. When you have ti, give him so comfort. He's a pretty optimistic kid, let's not have him get depressed from all the complaints."

Ever since Gong Liang returned ho, Mrs. Gong kept chattering nonstop, in stark contrast to her previously silent, sighed-laden, and worried deanor. Only now did Qin Huai realize, Mrs. Gong is quite the chatterbox.

Indeed, silent parents can't raise a talkative sales star.

"Got it, Mom." Compared to the current Mrs. Gong, Gong Liang appeared so taciturn.

Just as Gong Liang finished speaking, a voice ca shouting from outside, Zheng Da's high-pitched chatter: "Gong Liang, my master asked to bring you freshly baked fresh at mooncakes. Can I open a coconut you brought back for ? I just asked my master, and he said he's tried fresh coconut, and the coconut water is quite tasty. Let drink a couple of sips first; I'm about to head to work."

The door to Gong Liang's house was ajar, so Zheng Da gently pushed it open and walked in casually, saying offhandedly, "By the way, I forgot to tell you so good news just now."

"My master officially retires tomorrow and is treating everyone to a al. This year, I won't be coming to your house to freeload for Mid-Autumn Festival; it's your turn to co to our State owned Restaurant to eat, and eat the fresh at mooncakes I made!"

"Oh." Gong Liang was unmoved.

Zheng Da was taken aback, then got angry: "You know?! Such an important matter and you actually know about it!? I repeatedly emphasized that this matter must not be disclosed to you in advance, that I must be the one to tell you. Who told you? Was it Huang Shengli? I knew he would sneakily tell you. Did he sneak by just now? I'm going after him!"

As he spoke, Zheng Da rolled up his sleeves and stord out angrily, forgetting the coconut, and grumbling as he ran: "I've been freeloading on your Mid-Autumn Festival als for so many years, and now it's finally your turn to eat at my place, yet I wasn't the one to tell you, too..."

Mrs. Gong: ...

"Old Gong, the sun's nice outside today. How about I take you out for a walk?" Mrs. Gong suggested utterly unrealistically while looking at the overcast sky, "And send a couple of coconuts to that boy Zheng Da."

"That kid, he acts so hasty, just ntioned wanting to drink coconut, didn't even look at it, and then left after barely two seconds."

"Let's go, bring the coconuts to Zheng Da."
