[Margaret’s POV]
"Austin, Alpha of the Windstorm Pack and an old friend of mine," Donald said with a smile brimming in his eyes, clearly delighted that I could et his friend.
At tis, he was genuinely adorable, much like a lively, sunny boy. Of course, this side of him only surfaced around people he was very close and affectionate with.
I smiled and nodded at Austin, considering that a proper greeting.
Although Donald seed quite familiar with him, from the very first mont I saw him, I felt that there was a complex aura about this man, and my instinct told he was no simple character.
He seed to harbor so hostility towards ! This intuition was so bizarre that I found it sowhat absurd.
"What? Your mate? Your Majesty, how did you suddenly stumble upon your mate? This is indeed a great event! Have you inford the elders in the Palace? They must be thrilled, right? And... where is Angel? This must have been quite a shock for her too, right?"
Perhaps noticing a change in Donald’s expression, Austin suddenly quieted down while speaking.
If not for the genuine look of jest on his face, I would have suspected that he was deliberately saying these things to anger Donald.
As the Alpha coordinating with Donald and the entire Guard Team, how could he not know about Elliot and Angel’s situation?
Could it be that Donald’s security asures for escorting Elliot back to the Palace were so stringent? Was Austin doing this on purpose?
Donald unconsciously tightened his grip on my hand, aware of his many reservations about Angel. I subtly squeezed his hand in return and then suggested with a light laugh, "Alpha Austin, hello, could we perhaps move this conversation to the lobby first? It’s quite crowded here, not really a suitable place for discussions."
He seed to realize Donald was displeased and chuckled awkwardly, nodding in agreent, "Yes, yes, let’s go inside and sit down to talk. I was too hasty, it’s been such a long ti since I’ve seen His Majesty."
"The last ti His Majesty’s convoy passed through Windstorm Pack, I missed eting with His Majesty due to other duties, and I still regret it, haha! Miss Margaret, this way please..."
Smiling at Austin’s response and small talk, I took Donald’s hand and started walking inside, but he remained still, fixedly gazing at Austin.
I turned back, sowhat puzzled, and before I could ask ’what’s wrong,’ I heard Donald seriously tell Austin, "You can address her directly as the Lycan Queen, that’s what Christian and the others do."
"..."
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a slight pause in Austin’s expression, after which he chuckled lightly and nodded repeatedly in agreent, "Yes, yes, I misspoke! Anyone whom Your Majesty deems as your mate is naturally the Queen of the Wolf royal family. I apologize for my mistake, please don’t take offense, Your Majesty and the Queen."
He bowed slightly, appearing quite apologetic.
"But you work fast, it’s only been two months since we last t, and now you already have a mate and there’s a new lady in the Wolf royal family, haha! I was really taken aback by this news; you can’t bla for that, can you?"
Austin said, his face showing more jest and tease.
Donald looked relaxed and gradually started to smile as if he quite agreed with what Austin said.
He chuckled and playfully punched Austin on the shoulder. He didn’t respond verbally but kept holding my hand.
A few minutes later, we all settled in the reception hall of Windstorm Pack, and the Lycan guards began their al and break.
Because in another hour, we would be back on the road again.
While Donald was talking and chatting with Austin, I sat silently beside him, sipping the drink in my cup and occasionally topping up Donald’s as well.
When a sudden and abrupt sound of high heels echoed from outside the reception hall door, like the Lycans below, I instinctively raised my eyes and looked over.
"Donald, brother! You co to our pack, and you don’t even tell in advance? If it weren’t for my cleverness in noticing my brother secretly holding a welcoming party for you, were you planning to sneak away directly from the pack again? Hmph! You really are too an."
Watching the bright, beautiful girl at the entrance, and hearing her soft, adorable ’complaint,’ I finally understood why, from the very first mont, there was a clash in the aura between my friend Donald, Austin, and !
