[Margaret’s POV]

I had just been unreasonably venting my pent-up emotions at Donald, and while I could bear to see that out-of-control side of myself when facing my mate, I still felt sowhat embarrassed if a stranger were to see it.

The plan was as childish as a three-year-old’s.

Donald, keenly aware of my thoughts, glanced at Ruth, whose presence was almost negligible, and a tender smile slowly spread across his eyes, "Feeling shy now? You weren’t embarrassed when you were crying with earlier."

As he spoke, he leaned in to kiss and continued in a hushed voice, "Don’t be shy or embarrassed; I like it when you vent your emotions to . It ans you recognize as your closest, most trusted person. I like that. Margaret, I love you."

Donald seldom opened up like this, and I was almost surprised as I opened my eyes to look at him, but I quickly ’drowned’ in his gaze which held only .

I tilted my chin up to kiss him back, not caring anymore whether Ruth was watching. She hadn’t made a sound from the beginning, but eventually, it was Benjamin and his companions, concerned about Donald’s injuries, who disrupted the hard-earned peace and intimacy between Donald and .

"Your Majesty! Are you... are you alright? I apologize for interrupting you and the Lycan Queen, but we need to tend to your wound first," Benjamin said.

Perhaps it was seeing Donald and together as he opened the car door that caused Benjamin to stutter a bit before he continued his speech.

I slightly pulled away from Donald, not looking at the Lycan King’s sowhat teasing gaze, and said directly to Benjamin, "Let’s do it, Benjamin. I can be your assistant."

As I spoke, I got up and brought the dical kit from inside the motorho, watching as Benjamin began treating Donald’s wounds.

Donald’s shoulder was sared with blood, looking quite grueso. I frowned deeply, feeling incredibly distressed as it seed Donald always got hurt saving , just like the ti when Angel got hurt, and now again.

"How is it? Is the injury severe? Just tell if there’s anything I need to do," I asked Benjamin.

Benjamin’s expression was somber, but not overly worried or grave, which probably ant it was not too serious.

But at that mont, I had lost most of my rationality to ponder over this question, and I was just full of worry and sympathy for Donald.

"His Majesty’s injury isn’t severe; the Lycan Queen doesn’t need to worry too much. The hit didn’t damage his muscles or bones; he just needs to take his dicine and rest well," Benjamin responded.

Upon hearing Benjamin’s reply, so of my unease dissolved. I handed over the antiseptic and pain relief dications. As I looked at Donald’s sowhat pale face, I murmured, "That’s good, I will make sure he takes his dicine and rests well."

After helping Donald change into clean clothes, I rembered to ask Benjamin about the situation outside, "How are the Guard Team’s casualties? Louis isn’t hurt is he? And that Lycan who was pounced by the tiger? Oh right..."

I paused briefly, then looked at Benjamin and continued gravely, "What about Jack? Is he still alive? I only saw him lying in a pool of blood, his hand..." His hand had been eaten by that beast.

I didn’t finish the last sentence, just tightened my hold on Donald’s hand. Jack was the Lycan driving us today and had been the first one attacked by the beast.

Actually, I am very afraid of seeing people around get hurt and bleed. A young Lycan I’ve spent just half a day with made this upset; I can hardly imagine how I would react if sothing similar happened to Donald! I might simply go mad.

"The Guard Team lost three Lycans: Jack, Leon, and Tony, who was unfortunately hit on the head by a falling rock. Everyone else also sustained various degrees of minor injuries. Fortunately, His Majesty has now joined us, his brought Lycans should suffice to protect us for the remainder of our mission," Benjamin explained.

Thinking of that Lycan who had been hit by the beast right in front of us, my mood beca heavier. I closed my eyes and observed a half-minute of silence, then holding Donald’s hand, I said solemnly, "Let’s take them ho. The weather in Starry Ravine is too harsh all year round. I’m afraid they won’t see the sun rise here."

Donald quietly listened to Benjamin’s report, and a flash of anguish passed through his eyes. He looked at and nodded, agreeing with my suggestion.

He gripped my hand a bit tightly, which cald my heart so. I glanced sideways at Benjamin and at Louis and Anthony waiting outside the motorho, then spoke in a gentle voice, "Let’s get ready to leave. We can’t afford to stay overnight in Starry Ravine; it’s simply too dangerous."

If I can help it, I would never return to this place.
