[Benjamin’s POV]
If I had the ability to see into the future, I think I would definitely not have suggested that our convey take a detour through Starry Ravine!
Even though the highway had collapsed due to the torrential rain, I was sure it could have been quickly repaired, and we might even have been able to wait for His Majesty and the others on the spot. After all, since we hit the road, Elliot’s condition had stabilized sowhat, and he was no longer as critical and worrying as he had been within the Silver Moon Pack.
I think it was probably because I had administered to him the new dicine I had successfully developed.
Back to the matter of detouring through Starry Ravine, it truly was a terribly bad idea. Although the Lycan Queen and the mbers of the Guard Team didn’t bla , staring at the predicant in front of us, I plunged into endless self-reproach and annoyance once again.
The downpour still went on, and the sky had also slowly darkened. It was hardly possible for us to stay here for too long, we had to quickly resolve the several troubleso matters in front of us!
First were the assorted rocks and mud that had tumbled onto the road surface from the mountain due to the rain. Second were the unevolved, gaping-mawed wild beasts that had been drawn to our halted convoys by the lights and noise.
The third matter was the most bizarre and baffling one, which was that all of us had completely lost contact with the outside world!
After entering the valley, our cell phones all lost their signal, and even the mind-link between werewolves, the closest and most reliable form, stopped working.
This really was like seeing a ghost. I cursed silently in my heart, rolled up my sleeves, and got out of the car with the Lycans of the Guard Team to clear the scattered rocks from the road.
Of course, we weren’t foolish enough to focus all our attention and manpower on clearing the rocks. The growls of wild animals coming from the woods on both sides of the road made us very wary too.
Margaret had been driving the motorho behind us with a worried frown the whole ti.
Yes, even she had taken initiative and started driving the motorho. Now, our usual motorho driver was standing with , walking along the road in the pouring rain, occasionally needing the combined strength of several people just to push aside large rocks that were lying across the road.
Louis had taken a few Lycans to be responsible for the security of the entire convoy. They directly killed any foolish beasts that rushed towards us seeking death by drawing their swords.
In fact, if it wasn’t for this ravaging rain and the boulders on the road, we could have crossed Starry Ravine quickly and reached the next station to rest and wait. But now the situation is incredibly frustrating and speechless, because we were in a dilemma with no good way forward or back.
"Benjamin! Stop worrying about those rocks for now and co back to check Elliott’s condition. His temperature seems to have risen again,"
It was the Lycan Queen calling my na from the driver’s seat, poking her head out. I instinctively looked back and took 2 seconds to register what the Queen was saying.
I patted the shoulder of the Lycan beside to signal that I was going to go check and to be careful when he was working alone.
Seeing his nod of agreent, I turned and walked back into the motorho. I was soaked through by the rain, so I could only hurriedly take off my raincoat and jacket and quickly sit beside Elliot’s sickbed, reaching out to check on him carefully.
Elliot’s body temperature had indeed risen a bit, and his abdominal wound had seeped blood due to the unavoidable jolts of the journey, making it stand out starkly against the white gauze.
"The temperature is a little high, but it’s not a big problem. But his abdominal wound needs to be redressed. I’m going to wash my hands and be right back. Ruth, could you prepare the things for ?"
I inford the Queen in a soft voice, then turned to look at the other person in the motorho, the maidservant the Queen had brought from the pack nad Ruth.
Ruth had very nimble hands for everyday tasks, but seed sowhat averse to the sll of blood. With only and her in the motorho besides the Queen, it wasn’t really possible for to task the Queen with such things, right?
Although the Queen truly had no airs about her and was very kind and friendly when she was with us, I still needed to be cautious about certain things, such as showing her respect.
But the next second, I found myself reluctantly putting that thought on hold, as the Queen still took on the task I had given to Ruth.
I had said before that she was a very smart woman, and she had a talent for dicine and treatnt. If my professors at dical school could et her, they would surely be extrely excited and happy, because such a talented student like her is actually quite rare.
The Queen simply said ’Let do it’ to Ruth in a soft voice, then quickly took out everything I needed from the dicine kit.
