Love is, and has always been, unreasonable and unpredictable, sothing that cannot be judged by logic alone. Won like Mu Xuanyin and Chi Wuyao were two individuals who had never believed there existed a man worthy of them, let alone one capable of pulling their heartstrings.
Not even the most outstanding man in the million-year history of the God Realm, the Dragon Monarch.
But as if by a stroke of fate, both of them fell for the sa man, at the sa ti, and in the sa manner.
A ripple flickered in Mu Xuanyin's eyes. She stared deeply into Chi Wuyao's eyes, which were just a few inches away, as if trying to find any trace of falsehood or hidden aning within them.
"Even if what you claim is true, do you dare to say that you didn't have so ulterior motives to use Wuji to break this giant prison of the Northern Divine Region?" Mu Xuanyin took two steps back to put distance between them and spoke in a cold tone.
"Although this is indeed a good and logical idea, I truly never considered using him. Perhaps, before I fell for Wuji, I did entertain this thought, but that was in the past," Chi Wuyao glanced behind her in the direction of the Northern Divine Region and said slowly. Then, she turned back to Mu Xuanyin and added firmly, "If Wuji were even willing to destroy the Northern Divine Region, I would be the first to do so."
In the past, her ultimate goal and ambition had been to unify the Northern Divine Region and lead everyone to break free from their eternal cage. She aid to challenge the three other Divine Regions and then rule the entire Primal Chaos. But now, her heart and mind were consud solely by Yun Wuji. If he desired to beco an Emperor, she would do her utmost to assist him in ruling this world. If he wished to beco a calamity, she would destroy this world for him without hesitation.
"Alright, I will believe you for now," Mu Xuanyin said. This ti, she didn't belittle or openly disbelieve her. She nodded calmly, though whether she truly believed Chi Wuyao's words remained unknown. Then, her expression grew colder. "Wuji said that he would only give you a chance after you earned my forgiveness, right?"
If anyone were to hear this, including her closest confidantes, the witches, they would be utterly shocked and frightened! The Devil Queen, the woman who had stepped over countless corpses, was going to such lengths for a man!
"Yes," Chi Wuyao replied calmly, with no hint of sha or embarrassnt in her voice.
"Very well, since you said that you love him so much, then prove it," Mu Xuanyin nodded in understanding before speaking coldly. Chi Wuyao had been subtly trying to divert the conversation from the fact that she had planted part of her soul in Mu Xuanyin and used it to spy on her for ten thousand years, redirecting the conversation toward Yun Wuji instead. Naturally, Mu Xuanyin saw through her plan easily, but even so, she didn't expose it and chose to play along.
Because, at the end of the day, whether this woman truly loved Yun Wuji or not, she could still be a strong asset and ally for him. And Mu Xuanyin, even though she still harbored anger and hatred toward her, didn't want to do anything that might affect Yun Wuji.
So, she glanced at Chi Wuyao coldly and said, "Get on your knees."
Thud!
Without a mont's hesitation, Chi Wuyao imdiately dropped to her knees with a loud thud. She looked up at Mu Xuanyin and asked calmly, "Anything else?"
"..." Mu Xuanyin narrowed her eyes, not expecting this woman to be so resolute. As she stared back at Chi Wuyao, she began to believe so of what the woman had said.
Perhaps she truly did love Yun Wuji.
The Devil Queen, perhaps the strongest God Emperor in the Northern Region, naturally possessed her own pride and dignity. But right now, she decisively cast them aside without a shred of hesitation, all for the sake of a man.
"Is this the attitude of soone asking for forgiveness? Lower your head," Mu Xuanyin snorted coldly.
Bang!
As soon as Mu Xuanyin's words fell, Chi Wuyao slamd her head against the ground, producing a loud thud. Before she could lift it again, she felt a foot press firmly on her head, pinning it to the ground. Her body shuddered slightly, but she didn't resist. Being stepped on was a deeply humiliating act, sothing most ordinary people would rather die than endure, let alone soone of her exalted status. Yet, Chi Wuyao bore it calmly, without protest or hesitation.
She heard Mu Xuanyin's voice from above, "I can sense your sincerity." Then, the foot pressing down on her slowly lifted. "Get up."
Chi Wuyao rose to her feet and stood still, saying nothing. Her expression remained calm, and her dark eyes were as stagnant as a deep, dark pool.
Mu Xuanyin didn't care about her feelings. With a flick of her wrist, a thin, long sword appeared in her hand. Without warning, an icy light erupted from it, piercing straight toward Chi Wuyao.
Chi Wuyao remained completely still; she did not even circulate any profound energy to protect herself.
The piercingly clear sound of silk being ripped apart rang through the air as the Snow Princess Sword rcilessly plunged into Chi Wuyao's left shoulder. The tip of the sword pierced through the back of her shoulder as it glinted with an icy light.
Blood started to gush out of the wound before it was imdiately sealed with cold energy. The icy sword light gleaming from the Snow Princess Sword was reflected in both won's eyes as they silently stared at one another from an incredibly close distance.
The Snow Princess Sword slid out of Chi Wuyao's body, and no blood stained it. Chi Wuyao's body violently swayed, but she did not even bother glancing at the wound.
The sword light vanished, and Mu Xuanyin turned around and said with a cold voice, "On account of your feelings for Wuji... That thrust of my sword has settled the grievances between us."
Once she finished speaking, she rose into the air and vanished into a twinkling of icy light in the next instant.
Chi Wuyao was left alone. She stared in the direction where Mu Xuanyin had vanished and let out a long sigh. "She acted so calm the entire ti, but her actions were anything but calm."
Though she had been forced to kneel, prostrate herself, endure being stepped on, and even suffer a wound, Chi Wuyao did not show a trace of anger.
Because what she had done deserved far more than just that. Anyone else might not have accepted such treatnt, but she was soone who had started from the very bottom of society in the most brutal environnt in the Primal Chaos, the Northern Divine Region, where the law of the jungle reigned supre.
She had witnessed and endured countless grievances throughout her long life. Compared to what she had gone through in her long life, what had just happened was insignificant.
Her hand slowly moved to the wound on her shoulder, tracing it with her finger. She brought the bloodstained finger to her lips and chuckled softly, "Hehehe~ I've suffered such a grievance. Wuji will certainly take care of his 'mistress' who was bullied by the 'main wife,' right, little darling~?"

Eastern Divine Region, Heavenly Mystery Realm.
The Heavenly Mystery Realm was the most unique upper star realm in the entire Eastern Divine Region, without exception. It possessed the smallest territory and had the weakest profound practitioners overall compared to all the other upper star realms. Additionally, it only had a sect with fewer than a thousand disciples, the Heavenly Mystery Sect.
It was so small, its size nearly as large as a city in a lower star realm, barely five hundred kiloters wide.
It was viewed as a special, sacred ground throughout the entire God Realm.
Every year, the majority of the visitors ca to the Eastern Divine Region expressly to visit the Heavenly Mystery Realm.
Even the four great king realms had to treat the Heavenly Mystery Realm with respect. Their Great Realm Kings would often personally visit the Heavenly Mystery Realm.
And today, a God Emperor from one of the great king realms was paying a visit.
Followed by four Moon Gods, the Moon God Emperor descended into the Heavenly Mystery Realm. His arrival was greeted by the Heavenly Mystery Three Elders, Moyu, Mowen, and Mozhi, who bowed respectfully and said in unison, "Greetings, Moon God Emperor."
"Heavenly Mystery... It seems that you already know about my arrival," Yue Wuya, the Moon God Emperor, said. Then, he glanced at the Moon Gods and ordered, "Wait here."
He strode forward, and the Heavenly Mystery Three Elders followed closely behind him.
When they reached the Heavenly Mystery Temple, Yue Wuya spoke in a solemn tone, "Lately, I've had a strange feeling, as if sothing ominous is about to happen."
"I request the three elders to look into this matter."
Every thousand years, Yue Wuya would visit the Heavenly Mystery Realm to obtain a prediction. This ti, unlike before, he had been plagued by a persistent bad feeling over the past few months. Thus, he ca once again to seek their guidance.
"Moon God Emperor, although our predictions can sotis be accurate, please rember that the will of the heavens is unpredictable, and fate can change at any mont. Use our words only as a reference." The Heavenly Mystery Three Elders exchanged glances, and then Mozhi spoke.
"..." The Moon God Emperor remained silent.
Mowen raised his hand and summoned the Heavenly Mystery God Canon. Together, the Heavenly Mystery Three Elders rged their strength and opened the book of prophecy. A golden light erupted from the Heavenly Mystery God Canon, illuminating the area with its radiant glow.
They closed their eyes and remained still for a long ti. When they finally opened them, a deep shock was etched on each of their faces. Seeing their expressions, Moon God Emperor had a bad feeling. "What did you see?"
The three elders didn't answer imdiately. They remained frozen in place for a long while. When they finally moved, they exchanged glances before turning to face the Moon God Emperor. Moyu spoke first, his voice heavy, "You only have one year left."
