*Ziiiiiiinnnngggg*

Chuck could hear a high pitched ringing sound in his ears, almost like he ca across a body that produced a deafening noise. He felt his consciousness regaining itself as several sores on the surface of his skin seed to slow down the process. *Ding* sound followed after, discombobulating Chuck’s ntal state as his body twitched violently, almost like he was waking up and slipping away simultaneously.

He opened his eyes slowly feeling the sore sensation around his eye lids, every movent he made seed to get followed by a shooting pain that stung him intensively. Taking a glance forward, he saw the outline of a dead beast as the rotten waft of decaying organs seeped into his nostrils, giving him a sick feeling of disgust.

"Uuurrggghhhhh."

Chuck tried to elevate himself from the sandy ground that felt slightly hot compared to earlier, he stood with a stagger, still feeling every bit of discomfort in his muscles, the skin on his body felt like several shrapnels of glass pierced through it.

Chuck stared up at the sky, noticing the crimson hue over the horizon which signified the setting of the sun. He stared down at the aftermath of the chaos that had occurred when he lost consciousness, seeming to rember every single thing that occurred, but not having control over his own body during the ordeal.

"W... what have I done?"

"I... I... "

Chuck was at a loss for words when he saw a headless body lying on the ground, the fine sand seed to be tainted by a red blooded stain. He couldn’t see the bodies of the other students — but he rembered the exact reason as to why their remains were nowhere to be found. He rembered the fiery blast he unleashed when he had lost control of his body, incinerating their being into oblivion in the process.

Chuck’s eyes watered up as his vision blurred, with a small blink, a drop of tears stread down his face. More streams of salty liquid were about to leave his eyes, but it was interrupted by a familiar sound in his head as a screen appeared out of thin air.

[ The system congratulates the user for their first human kill ]

[ The forced absorption technique was automatically activated during the pure immortal mode, extracting the energies of the three humans that were killed. The user has to decide on how to use the stolen energy ]

Chuck felt a bit of sickness in his stomach as he read the system ssages. Putting two and two together, he could tell that he only transford into that being as a result of depleting his HP completely. If he didn’t have the Harlem energy of the "immortal race," he would have died.

As much as he felt bad about the death of the three students that ca after him, he also had to remind himself that they intended to kill him. It was either his demise, or theirs, and this thought gave him a bit of comfort and justification about their execution.

[ Does the user wish to accept the additional energy, converting it to Harelm energy, and adding it to their pool?]

[ Does the user wish to reject the energy, locking it and accumulating it to unlock the infernal guide? ]

[ Accept Reject ]

Chuck stared at the screen in deep thoughts as he contemplated on whether or not he wanted to accept the energy. Adding the energy to his Harelm pool will increase his tank, potentially making his attacks stronger and more effective. But Chuck didn’t know what the Harelm guide was, nor did he know what effects it could manifest on him if he unlocked it, but he needed to know.

If the system gave him the option of unlocking the Harelm guide, it ant that it was going to be worth every energy spent on it, potentially becoming the strongest elent in his arsenal.

[ Reject ]

Chuck clicked on Reject, sealing away the energy.

[ The user has successfully locked the energy for the Harelm guide ]

[ When the required amount of energy points has been reached, the user will get the option to unlock it ]

[ Locked energy: 10/200 ]

"What is this? Only 10 energy points were given for three deaths?" Chuck thought as he stared at the screen in confusion.

"This is definitely gonna take a while. I need to look for a way to farm energy out of things... or people."

Chuck couldn’t focus on the system interface as a certain sll kept distorting his ntal focus. He dismissed the interface, staring out at the layers of beasts corpse that littered the ground. The sunlight only got dimr as it went below the horizon, giving the surrounding areas a chilling effect.

He still felt the pain in his body, making it almost impossible to singlehandedly harvest the crystal from the dead beast, and also get rid of a headless body. Chuck proceeded to activate the infernal shroud, attempting to heal his body completely.

[ Infernal shroud has been activated ]

A golden glow illuminated the field as a torrent of fire erupted from Chuck’s being. He felt the warmth on his skin as a sensation of relief washed over him. His strained muscles repaired itself, easing the pain he left. After a few minutes, the unbearable shooting sting that he felt was gone.

He dismissed the infernal shroud, not wanting to deplete the low energy that he had at the mont. He advanced towards one of the spider-like beasts, the awful waft only seed to get stronger, making it hard for Chuck to breathe properly.

"I better harvest these crystals. When I’m done with that, I’ll find a way to get rid of this body," Chuck said, looking back at Cube’s headless corpse.

Chuck activated the infernal craft, creating a small dagger that lit up, illuminating the rotten muscles and innards of the beast as Chuck proceeded to carve the chest of the beast, predicting that it’ll be most likely where the crystal will be located at.

The sound of splitting flesh could be heard as Chuck plunged the dagger into its chest, carving his way through. Little trickles of black blood on his fingers as he dug around, the sll hitting Chuck violently. He cut through tough muscles easily as the flas from the dagger burnt everything it ca in contact with.

He suddenly hit a solid organ that seed impossible to cut with his dagger. Stabbing forward, Chuck tried to go through forcefully, but it seed futile. Chuck could imdiately tell that it was the crystal. He dismissed the infernal craft, grabbed onto the crystal, forcefully pulling it out of the beast.

A yellow glow reflected on his eyes as he stared at the crystal in awe, it felt solid, pulsating with energy as it glowed mildly. Chuck relished in the feeling of obtaining a crystal, even though it was for an event, but that feeling dies down as his focus shifted on a display that seed to startle him a little.

[ The user is now in possession of a regular beast crystal ]

[ Would you like to force absorb the energy of the crystal? ]
