Mike stord out of the elevator, and Tolu had to run to catch up with him.

"Wait up, darling. Why are you in such a hurry?" she called as she ran after him. Mike heard her, of course, but he was too pissed, too enraged to wait for her.

He barged into his office and slamd his suitcase on his desk, anger boiling in his veins.

Tolu walked in after him and closed the door behind her. There was an unpleasant frown on her face as she walked towards him.

"Why didn’t you wait for despite the fact that I was calling after you?" she asked, and there was a slight annoyance in her voice.

Mike ignored her still, running a hand through his hair instead. He had no ti to stroke Tolu’s ego at that mont. He had better things to think about, like the fact that his ex wife was married.

And pregnant.

For another man.

"...are you even listening to ?" Tolu snapped, and her angry words pierced through Mike’s thoughts.

She had apparently been talking to him and he hadn’t been listening.

He turned to face her. "Go to your office, Tolu," he said quietly.

Tolu folded her arms over her chest. "Why?"

Mike raised his eyebrows comically.

"What did you an, why? We don’t share the sa office. Just go and do your job unless you want to get us both fired," he quipped, impatience seeping into his voice.

He needed her to leave so that he would be able to think. But Tolu didn’t move from where she was.

"What’s your problem, Mike? What’s up with you?" she asked, keeping her voice insistent.

Mike let out a grunt of frustration.

"I don’t want to talk! I am in a very pissy mood and I would like it very much if you leave alone right now! Please!" he snapped.

Shocked at his outburst, Tolu’s brows furrowed into a furious frown.

"Co on, Mike. We are a couple. Whatever is up with you concerns too. Talk to , my love. What is happening?" she pushed.

And the anger that had been boiling in Mike since the encounter with Lara erupted.

"Lara is pregnant! For fuck’s sake. She is married and pregnant to another man and it’s driving crazy," he yelled.

Tolu, who had not expected everything that he just said, took a shocking step away from him.

"What?!" she said, unable to believe her ears.

"You heard . She’s pregnant and happy and I hate the fact that she does not look miserable. She should be miserable. Why does she look happy? Lara does not deserve to be happy!"

Mike was yelling louder now, and veins threatened to burst out of his forehead at how enraged he was.

Tolu had never seen him this angry, but she moved closer to comfort him regardless.

"I know how you feel, my love. I totally understand. Your feelings are valid. That bitch is a snake and she doesn’t deserve to be happy. I know she’s pregnant and she’s not supposed to be, but that is out of our hands. There’s nothing we can do about that except to make her life even more miserable. And that, my darling, is the one thing that we are good at," she said softly, trying to calm down the raging man.

Mike took deep breaths. Tolu was right.

Lara might be happily pregnant now, but that would not stop him — stop them — from turning her life into a living hell.

He turned to face Tolu.

"You’re right. I’m sorry for going all bonkers on you. I was just.. surprised," he said, and his words were slightly apologetic.

Tolu smiled and moved in to hug him.

"You’re welco, love. We’ll deal with her, don’t worry. And as for the pregnancy, she probably got laid by a loser sowhere. It doesn’t really matter," she said soothingly.

But her words had the opposite effect on Mike. They awoke sothing in him, and he slowly pushed her away.

"What is it again, Mike?" Tolu asked with a slightly forced smile on her face.

Mike turned around to bang his hand on his office desk.

"I fucking knew it," he muttered, and his eyes started to blaze red again.

"Mike. What are..." Tolu started to ask, but Mike interrupted her before she could finish whatever it was she wanted to ask.

"She cheated on ! While we were together, Lara was cheating on . I had my doubts, but now I am sure. I can’t believe she would do that to . What the actual hell?"

A startled laughter slipped past Tolu’s lips.

"You think Lara cheated on you? Co on. That woman is a coward. She could not have done that. We both know that she doesn’t have the balls," Tolu stated, quite firm in her belief.

But Mike wasn’t having any of it.

"No. Think about it. There is no way she t and got married to another man imdiately after we got divorced. And now she’s pregnant. It is too soon, and there is only one explanation for it. She cheated on . SHE WAS SLEEPING WITH ANOTHER MAN WHILE SHE WAS STILL MARRIED TO !"

Tolu shrugged.

"Yeah? And what if she was? What fucking difference does it make?" she asked blandly.

Mike stared at her like she had just dropped a bomb.

"It makes all the fucking difference in the world, Tolu. Don’t you see? It ant that she wasn’t faithful to in the marriage. And that is bullshit!"

Tolu, suddenly exasperated, threw her hands in the air.

"You did the sa thing to her, Mike. You were sleeping with while you were still married to her!" she snapped.

"YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND," he roared.

And the leash Tolu kept on her own growing anger slipped.

"I THINK I FUCKING DO. Tell the truth, Mike. Are you still in love with Lara?" she asked, suddenly too curious to not ask.

Mike sputtered. His anger faded away in a flash, and so sort of clarity washed over him.

Tolu gasped in disbelief at his silence.

"What?! No. That’s ridiculous," he started to say, but it was too late.

Tolu had already co to a conclusion, and she had walked out of Mike’s office in blind rage.
