Lara took a deep breath, and as the sound of the orchestra floated into her ears, she walked into the garden.

And she gasped. Adrian and Lisa’s garden had been transford for the wedding, and it took Lara’s breath away.

The natural flowers were so beautiful, and the way the seating arrangent was done around it made it more exquisite. Tiny birds flew around, trailing ribbons as they wove in and out of the crowd.

Twinkling lights hung overhead, shining like little stars over the seated crowd, and everyone looked beautiful. Elegant.

Tears stung the back of Lara’s eyes. She had wanted a simple wedding, and they had given it to her. Nothing too extravagant. Yet it took her breath away.

The highlight of the transford garden however, was the man standing in front of the altar.

Curtis.

The love of Lara’s life. He looked so handso, so perfect, as he stood there waiting for her. There was a slight smile on his face, and Lara’s lips tugged upwards in an answering smile.

He nodded at her, his eyes shining with pride and happiness and love, and Lara, with Kayla walking her down the aisle, took the first step.

The first step towards the man that had been with her through thick and thin. The man that had loved her even before she knew what true love was, loved her even when she didn’t rember who he was.

The man who loved her through her best and worst days. The man that she had grown to love through hell and heaven.

The love of Lara’s life.

Curtis Rodney.

Lara took the first step to him, forever.

And the crowd went utterly still. The orchestra started to do a rendition of Daylight by Taylor Swift.

In Lara’s head, she sang the lyrics of the sound spilling into the garden.

’I don’t wanna look at anything else now that I saw you...’

(I can never look away.)

’I don’t wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you...’

(Things will never be the sa.)

’I’ve been sleeping so long in a twenty year dark night.’

(Now I’m wide awake.)

’And now I see daylight.’

To Lara, the song depicted the exact feelings she has for Curtis. When she got to the end of the aisle, Curtis stepped forward.

Kayla handed her over to him, and as his hands closed around hers, a feeling of safety blanketed over Lara.

This was it. The endga. Love, true and beautiful.

"Do you, Curtis Rodney, take Lara Edmund to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

Curtis held her gaze as he responded. "I do."

"And do you, Lara Edmund, take Curtis Rodney to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

Lara blinked back tears as she responded. "With all of my heart, yes. Yes, I do."

The ordained Minister nodded at them with a patient smile. Then he said: "You may now kiss the bride."

Curtis wrapped his hands around her waist, and he dragged her closer. As his lips settled gently on hers, the crowd gave them a standing ovation.

Lara kissed her husband with all the love in her heart, and just like that, after a lot of yearning and pain and hurt and loss, after a lot of obstacles and setbacks, Lara and Curtis got officially married.

Lisa could not stop crying.

She was trying so hard to push back her tears, but that was proving to be an impossible task.

How could she stem her tears, when her one and only son was finally getting married?

Adrian sighed as he gently rubbed her back. "There, there. You need to stop crying, sweetie. This is a joyous occasion. You should be happy," he said softly.

Lisa hiccuped as she tried to speak. "I...I am happy. But I am just so... emotional. I feel so proud of him," she sobbed even harder, and her husband shook his head, resigned and helpless.

Laura, who was sitting with her husband a few feet away, gently wiped tears away from her face. She wasn’t bawling like her mother was, but her chest was tight with a maelstrom of emotions as she watched her brother get married to the love of his life.

Her daughter rubbed her legs, not understanding why she was crying but willing to help anyway.

"Why are you sad, mummy?" Laura’s daughter asked. Laura sniffed as she stared down at her angel.

"I am not sad, my love. I am very happy."

The girl cocked her head to the side. "Is it because Uncle Curtis is getting married?" she asked.

Laura smiled as she responded. "Yes, sweetie. I am so happy for him."

"If you’re so happy, why are you crying then? Crying is for babies, and the babies are sleeping. They are not crying. You are."

Laura’s husband sighed and reached out to carry his very curious daughter.

"Leave your mother alone, sweetie," he said softly. The girl nodded solemnly, and her eyes strayed to the two baby strollers Laura was looking after.

"Can we take Ryan and Alia back ho with us?" she asked.

Laura shook her head. "Of course not. They are Uncle Curtis’s kids, not ours. But they will go with us tonight, and stay for a little while."

Laura’s daughter gave her a look of disappointnt. "I want a baby brother."

And just like that, the conversation beca so sort of argunt between Laura and her daughter.

Kayla, on the other hand, wasn’t crying. No, her chest was filled with so much light and pride as she stared at her friend.

She was so happy for Lara. Kayla felt as though she was going to combust from being so elated, and her expression must have betrayed what she was feeling because her husband squeezed her hand softly.

"You look so happy, my love," Kayla’s husband whispered into her ears. She turned to him, nodding enthusiastically

"I am. Lara is finally getting married. I feel like I’m going to combust from how happy I am. I am so fucking proud."

Her voice was fierce as she spoke, and her husband smiled.

"Everyone deserves to be happy, my love," he said gently. Kayla nodded at his words.

"Yes. Everyone deserves a shot at being happy, and I am so glad that Lara finally is."
