The next day.
Xiao Yunyun woke up at 6:10 a.m., a little earlier than she usually did.
It was her first ti getting out of bed as soon as she woke up. After brushing and washing, she bought two breakfasts downstairs and took a taxi to Shen Yuechuan’s apartnt.
The city looked tranquil in the early morning, like a baby who had just opened his eyes after a deep sleep. The road was clear, although there was a lot of traffic, which whizzed along in the morning sun as if they were hastening toward great hope.
Xiao Yunyun could hardly imagine what it would be like when all the roads in the city were filled up with its citizens a few hours later.
“Here we are, Young Lady.”
Xiao Yunyun didn’t realize that they had reached Shen Yuechuan’s apartnt until she heard the driver’s Mandarin Chinese with a local accent. She paid the fare and got out of the car with her two breakfasts.
The apartnt was provided with a perfect security system. The gate opened with a beep when Xiao Yunyun stood in front of it wondering whether she should call Shen Yuechuan or not.
The security guard looked at Xiao Yunyun with a smile as he walked out of the apartnt lobby. “Hello, Miss Xiao.”
It occurred to Xiao Yunyun that she was mistaken for Shen Yuechuan’s girlfriend when she was taken to the apartnt after she got drunk at Luo Xiaoxi’s bachelorette party. She rembered that the security guard told her to directly ask him to open the gate for her if she went there when she left the apartnt.
It was the previous morning back then. However, she almost forgot the security guard because she had experienced too much on the previous day.
It surprised her that the security guard still rembered her.
“This way, please.” The security guard looked at Xiao Yunyun, beaming with joy. “I knew you would co again.” He handed her an access card and said, “I’ve been keeping this spare card for Mr. Shen. Go to him directly.”
“Thank you,” Xiao Yunyun took the card and said, “I’ll give it back to you when I leave.”
“Maybe. Go upstairs, please.” The security guard didn’t ntion the card.
Xiao Yunyun imdiately took the elevator. She called Shen Yuechuan instead of directly opening his door after she reached his floor.
She thought that she wasn’t supposed to enter his house without permission, although she was one of his acquaintances.
She called him four tis and rang the doorbell twice, but no one answered.
She couldn’t help thinking, “Is Shen Yuechuan at ho? Did he have an accident?”
With that, Xiao Yunyun beca quite dented. She pounded at the door with her palm. “Shen Yuechuan!”
“...”
“Shen Yuechuan, hello?”
“...”
“Shen Yuechuan, answer , or I’ll open the door and let myself in!”
“...”
There was still no reply. Xiao Yunyun opened the door and entered the house.
The living room, the open-plan kitchen, and the semi-open study... all of it looked as neat as the previous day. It didn’t seem that there had been any accidents.
However, she didn’t see Shen Yuechuan.
Xiao Yunyun called again, “Shen Yuechuan!?”
Still, there was no response. Xiao Yunyun looked toward Shen Yuechuan’s room. She walked over and pushed the door open after hesitating for a mont.
As she had expected, Shen Yuechuan was sleeping in his room like a log.
There was a two-ter-long bed in the bedroom of more than 40 square ters. Shen Yuechuan was lying on the bed under his quilt, with his left cheek buried in the pillow and his right cheek facing the morning light, which made him look handso and charming.
She wondered, “Why didn’t my call or the doorbell wake him up? Is he out cold?”
Xiao Yunyun walked over to the bed angrily. “Shen Yuechuan!” she shouted as she slapped Shen Yuechuan’s quilt.
“...” Shen Yuechuan lay there still. It seed that he didn’t hear Xiao Yunyun at all.
Normally, few would sleep so soundly like that. Shen Yuechuan wasn’t supposed to sleep like that either.
Shen Yuechuan was Lu Boyan’s assistant and the second-in-command in Lu Enterprises. He should have been used to opening his eyes and getting himself ready for work imdiately after being awakened.
Xiao Yunyun thought that there had to be sothing wrong. She bent down to stare at Shen Yuechuan and called him again, “Shen Yuechuan, wake up!”
Only then did Shen Yuechuan hear Xiao Yunyun. He opened his eyes in a daze.
Shen Yuechuan felt the sa as the first ti that he had slept like the dead. He felt as if his life had been empty from the ti he fell asleep the previous day to the mont he opened his eyes again.
He thought that he had completely lost consciousness instead of having a sound sleep during that ti.
He thought that he had fallen into a more serious trance than he did the last ti. The impression he had is that he wouldn’t have woken up if Xiao Yunyun hadn’t gone to visit him in the morning.
Owing to his experience last ti, Shen Yuechuan managed to hide his true feelings at leisure. He gave Xiao Yunyun a teasing smile as he opened his bleary eyes.
Xiao Yunyun straightened herself up in bewildernt while sizing Shen Yuechuan up with a confused look, but she found nothing wrong with him.
She thought that Shen Yuechuan had been sleeping too soundly to hear her.
Shen Yuechuan winked at Xiao Yunyun and said, “You’re fixing your eyes on . You must want to kiss .”
“Nonsense! Do you think I’ll do sothing that makes sick?” Xiao Yunyun said disdainfully.
Su Yicheng narrowed his eyes as if he had seen through Xiao Yunyun. “I think you will say sothing against your will.”
Xiao Yunyun was stunned. “Did Shen Yuechuan see through ?”
“But Shen Yuechuan has always made fun of like that. He must be joking.”
With that, Xiao Yunyun felt inexplicably relieved. She glared at Shen Yuechuan and said, “You have 15 minutes to get dressed. I’ll wait for you in the living room!” Then she left the bedroom without looking back.
Shen Yuechuan looked at Xiao Yunyun’s back with a smile. He slowly got up after she slamd the door. A dull pain in his head almost overwheld him as he stood on the floor.
He closed his eyes to relieve himself from that kind of dull pain. He frowned while wondering, “Why am I feeling worse?”
Realizing that Xiao Yunyun was waiting for him, Shen Yuechuan stopped thinking about the pain and got himself dressed quickly.
Xiao Yunyun was sitting on the sofa reading a financial magazine that Shen Yuechuan had subscribed to. Upon hearing the noise, she subconsciously looked up and saw Shen Yuechuan walk out of his room.
He had removed his loose, comfortable pajamas and put on a tailored white shirt matched with a pair of black trousers. The rolled-up sleeves of the shirt made him look both relaxed and elegant.
Xiao Yunyun wondered, “Is it because Shen Yuechuan is good-looking, and he looks good no matter what he wears that I like him?”
“How shallow I am!”
However, she still adored him very much!
“Co here and take a seat,” Xiao Yunyun said with a serious face to hide her true feelings.
Shen Yuechuan obediently walked over and sat on the sofa, leaving about 30 cm between Xiao Yunyun and him, then he reached out his injured hand to her.
Xiao Yunyun frowned as she cut off the bandage around Shen Yuechuan’s hand to check his wound. She took a closer look at the bandage and found that it had been stained with a lot of blood.
“What’s wrong?” Shen Yuechuan noticed Xiao Yunyun’s strange look. He said, “I followed your advice and I didn’t touch water.”
“I know that.” Xiao Yunyun pointed at the blood in the bandage. “But, what did you do after you ca ho? Your wound bled again. Didn’t you feel it?”
“It was getting dark when I ca ho. What do you think I could do?” Shen Yuechuan looked innocent.
Xiao Yunyun sized Shen Yuechuan up. “You must have done sothing that you can only do when it’s dark.”
Shen Yuechuan was so angry that he let out a laugh. “Who told you such nonsense?”
“I always knew that!” Xiao Yunyun dipped a cotton ball in the dicine and dabbed at Shen Yuechuan’s wound. “Keep your hands still in the next few days. Or it will take you a long ti to recover if your wound keeps opening.”
Shen Yuechuan raised his eyebrows. “Okay, I will. My body is at your disposal!”
Xiao Yunyun was in a daze for a while before she got Shen Yuechuan’s point. She kicked Shen Yuechuan with a blush on her face and pressed the cotton ball hard onto his wound. “No more nonsense! Or you’ll suffer for it in half a month!”
Shen Yuechuan knew that Xiao Yunyun would do what she said. He rested his chin on his hand while silently watching Xiao Yunyun disinfect his wound and change his dressing.
He had thought that Xiao Yunyun would be embarrassed. He gazed at her but found that she was calm. He couldn’t help but ask, “Can’t you notice that I’m watching you?”
“I do,” Xiao Yunyun said without looking up, “What’s so strange about it? People like watching beauties.”
“...” Shen Yuechuan thought to himself, “She’s as narcissistic as I am.”
Xiao Yunyun was still calm after flattering herself. She changed his dressing and bound up Shen Yuechuan’s wound with the gauze. In the end, she skillfully made a bowknot. “It’s done. Don’t touch water. Keep your hands still. It’ll get better in the next two days. By the way, rember to change the dressing tonight.”
“Are you going to help with it?” Shen Yuechuan asked.
“I can’t co,” said Xiao Yunyun.
“Why?” Shen Yuechuan gazed at Xiao Yunyun and burst into laughter. “Are you worried that I’ll do sothing to you if you co at night?”
“How dare you!” Xiao Yunyun pretended to beat Shen Yuechuan but put down her hand within seconds. “I don’t think you’re brave enough to do that even if you want to! It’s my first night shift tonight. I can’t leave the hospital.”
“Then I’ll go to the hospital to visit you.” Shen Yuechuan asked, “Is that OK?”
“That’s fine with .” After a pause, Xiao Yunyun said, “But I got a question for you.”
Shen Yuechuan didn’t think that he would be bewildered by any of Xiao Yunyun’s questions, so he quickly said, “Go ahead.”
“I called you and rang the doorbell many tis this morning. I also called you many tis after I entered your house, but you didn’t respond,” Xiao Yunyun asked, “Didn’t you hear ? I never thought soone would sleep so deeply.”
“...”
Shen Yuechuan realized that there was sothing wrong with him.
He hadn’t expected that he would be stumped by Xiao Yunyun’s question.
