Her extensive training kicked in, and Seraphina Sterling imdiately moved away from the window, pressing her body tightly against the wall. ’How could there be a sniper here? Who is the target?’ Sanford was an ancient town with a thousand-year history and held auctions from ti to ti, but the caliber of these events was nowhere near those in Aethelgard. The attendees were in a completely different league as well. ’Who here could possibly be important enough to attract such a high-level threat like a sniper?’

"What’s wrong?" Wyatt Gallagher asked, seeing the grave expression on Seraphina Sterling’s face.

"We’ve got trouble." Seraphina pulled at the blackout curtain and leaned forward slightly to peek. The person outside didn’t spot her. When she drew the curtain shut, there was still no reaction. It seed the target wasn’t her, nor was it Wyatt Gallagher.

"What happened?" Seeing how serious Seraphina was, Wyatt Gallagher couldn’t help but grow tense as well.

Seraphina pointed across the way. "A sniper. I just don’t know if they’re police or an assassin."

Wyatt Gallagher’s brows furrowed tightly. ’Doing business is such a hassle! I’m really not cut out for it. My first ti at an auction, and I run into this much trouble!’

"Do you have a list of attendees for this auction? Let’s take a guess at who hit the jackpot." Seraphina’s radiant, warm smile returned. ’As long as she wasn’t the target, she had nothing to fear!’

Wyatt Gallagher tilted his head slightly. ’She’s so calm and collected in a situation like this! What a strange girl! Who exactly is she? Not only did the old man praise her repeatedly, but she can even maintain such a brilliant smile in the face of this kind of danger! Interesting. Very interesting!’

Seraphina Sterling scanned the list. She had surprisingly heard of many of the nas, and so she had even interacted with frequently in her distant past. Terrence Grant. Zion Hale. Seraphina Sterling’s gaze lingered on these two nas.

"What kind of treasure is at this auction to attract these two big shots? If anything happened to them in Sanford, Sanford could forget about any future developnt," Seraphina mused.

A roaring inferno flooded her mind—the acrid sll, the scorching heat, and the overwhelming despair and heartache.

"Seraphina, live! You have to live! Don’t forget, you’re not alone, you have the baby! For the baby, you have to live! If there’s a next life, I’ll make sure to et you before my brother does! Before anyone else!"

"Wyatt Gallagher, call the police!" Seraphina Sterling gritted her teeth and bolted out the door. ’Zion Hale. That sunny, carefree boy. The one who had constantly given her warmth in her past life! And in the end, he had died in a sea of flas to save her!’

’And all of it had just been a sche by Justin Hale. Worried that Zion Hale would snatch the Hale Family away from him, he had personally orchestrated that so-called accident. To kill Zion, Justin Hale had shown no regard for her, his pregnant wife. If Zion hadn’t protected her with his life, she might not have even survived to give birth.’

’Zion Hale! In this life, it’s my turn to protect you and ensure your peace!’

Seraphina hurried to the private room where Zion Hale was. ’She couldn’t worry about anyone else. Only Zion Hale. She had to save his life!’

But Seraphina hadn’t expected that Zion Hale wouldn’t be the only one in the VIP room. Justin Hale was also there, along with Aiden Faulkner, whom she had just seen downstairs!

The three people in the room stared in surprise as another person—Seraphina Sterling—suddenly burst in.

Aiden Faulkner was the first to react. The anger from her humiliation in the lobby washed over her again. "Seraphina Sterling, do you have any manners at all? This is our room! A country bumpkin is a country bumpkin! Don’t you even know to knock?"

Seeing that Zion Hale was unhard, Seraphina’s tension finally eased. Only then did she realize she had indeed overreacted, barging in without a second thought.

"Mr. Hale, last ti we t, I was under the impression your family’s upbringing had improved. Looking at things now, it seems it’s nothing special after all."

"Miss Sterling, I’m afraid you’ve misunderstood sothing. Aiden is my friend, not one of the Hales. I’m in no position to educate her." Seeing Seraphina, Justin Hale was acting quite abnormally. Instead of being displeased by the sudden intrusion, he felt a faint sense of delight.

"Oh, is that so!" Seraphina walked to the window, positioning herself in front of Zion Hale. ’They were just strangers now. She had no standing to ask him to move away from the window. This was the only thod she could think of.’

Aiden Faulkner, having been ignored by Seraphina, was already unhappy. Now, hearing Justin Hale deliberately distance himself from her, her mood went beyond re anger; it could only be described as fury. ’Has Mr. Hale taken a liking to Seraphina Sterling? Is that why he only said they were friends, because he doesn’t want her to misunderstand?’

Realizing this, Aiden Faulkner suppressed her rage. "Seraphina Sterling, you rushed in here in such a hurry. There must be sothing urgent, right? The auction has already started, and we don’t have ti to waste on aningless things."
