"That young master of the Hale Family is as narrow-minded and unscrupulous as ever, using such a vicious sche against a re high school student!" With a clench of his hand, Terrence Grant destroyed the phone Hughes had used for years.

The corner of Hughes’s mouth twitched involuntarily. ’Young Master, even if Seraphina Sterling got a new phone and gave her number first, you didn’t have to destroy my phone, did you? It had a lot of important information!’ Staring at the pathetic pile of phone parts, Hughes could only pray that the SIM card was intact.

"Let’s go. We’re taking a trip to the police station. You think one of my students can be bullied by just anyone?" ’She gets a new phone and only gives the number to Hughes. I’m her teacher, for crying out loud! What a lack of respect! She really needs to be taught a lesson.’

"Sir, we’re just going to the police station like this?" Hughes looked at him, surprised. ’Confronting Justin Hale like this risks exposing our strength!’

Terrence Grant didn’t even break his stride. "Don’t you have a law license?"

Hughes hurried to catch up. ’I have a law license, so I can go by myself. There’s no need for you to waste your ti on this, Young Master! Besides, Sir, don’t you hate dealing with troubleso matters?’

But Hughes didn’t dare say any of this out loud. The Young Master’s anger was a terrifying thing, far more than he could bear.

Seraphina Sterling hadn’t been in the police station for even three hours before Hughes ca and aggressively bailed her out. As Terrence Grant’s assistant, Hughes represented the Grant Consortium. Although the city bureau was taking the case very seriously, the Grant Family was the largest investor in Tollan Town, and besides, Philip Hale’s accusation lacked any direct witnesses or physical evidence.

Zeke Jennings’s testimony was ambiguous, at best only suggesting Seraphina Sterling was a suspect. Since she was a student in town and not a flight risk, the police considered all factors and had no choice but to release her.

"Hughes, is there anything you can’t do? I had no idea you were a lawyer! I’ll have to treat you to dinner soti!" Seraphina Sterling hadn’t expected the two of them to actually co; otherwise, she would have definitely been spending the night in a cell.

Terrence Grant’s expression darkened once again. ’Can she not see that I’m here too?’

Sensing the volatile aura emanating from his side, Hughes imdiately wiped away his blossoming smile, his expression snapping back to a poker face. "It was the Young Master who sent to help you," he said, all business. "You should be thanking him, not ."

"Pfft—" Seraphina Sterling couldn’t help but laugh. She didn’t an to, but the way Hughes’s expression had shifted so rapidly was simply too funny.

"You think I’m a joke?" Terrence Grant’s expression grew even fouler, his aura turning nacing. "Is this any way to treat your teacher? You have no respect at all!"

Seraphina Sterling cleared her throat, a faint smile on her face. "I wasn’t laughing at you, I was laughing at Hughes! And also, thank you for getting out, Teacher!" ’Mr. Grant is a dangerous man—an unpredictable madman, really. It’s much better to be his friend than his enemy.’

"That’s it?" Terrence Grant arched a sharp eyebrow, clearly dissatisfied with Seraphina Sterling’s half-hearted thanks.

Seraphina Sterling really couldn’t figure out what was going on in Terrence Grant’s mind. ’Haven’t I already thanked him?’

"I like sweet and sour fish." Terrence Grant dropped this one cool line before turning and leaving.

It took Seraphina Sterling a mont to react; she was completely stunned. ’Is this his roundabout way of getting to treat him to dinner? Sweet and sour fish? A grown man who likes sweet and sour fish! What does your preference for sweet and sour fish have to do with ?! I never said I’d cook for you!’

Seraphina Sterling followed them out of the police station, still fuming. Just as she reached the entrance, she ran into Willow Hale and Justin Hale.
