Chapter 422: Grand Sage [II]

Grand Sage.

This title was held by the oldest and strongest magician, who had left a mark in history. It’s not easy to get a title like that even with practice that ca from childhood. One must also be adept in battles and be the cornerstone of humanity in terms of need. That is how a Grand Sage was made.

Thanks to his actions, humanity has enjoyed life without any problems nowadays. He is the reason why the world remains at peace, and he is also the reason why the plenty of magical devices that enhance and simplify regular chores in life have been on the market for regular people are being spread out and about. Without his contribution, magic might still be sothing exclusive to n for years, and only those with titles like Hero and the Saintess might be the only thing that will be passed as the people who would be able to have access to magic.

However, it wasn’t part of the history books that he was an acquaintance of the Hero’s party, and he is partially involved in the Hero’s journey to defeat the Demon King. Turns out, during the final stretch to the final battle, he joined the heroes’ party and beca a support to fight the Demon King. The hero might have been the one who dealt the final blow, but the people who supported and helped the hero along the way are less docunted and have fewer records that can be found. So have those details, but they are scarce and sotis exclusive, only to be found and read in other kingdoms.

So, Elaina hearing the details straight from her Grandparents and from the old man who claims to be the Grand Sage is sothing that she didn’t expect to learn lessons from.

"It’s been decades since the last ti we t, Hero Rakkan and Saintess Liliana. You both have aged significantly yet still retain the youthful face you both had back in the days," the Grand Sage chuckles.

"You already know that this was due to the Elixir that we received back when the Kingdom of Lavenisius was under attack. Little did we know that we drank the elixir of vitality. Its effects are less apparent, but due to that elixir alone, we are still kicking and alive even though we should have already retired at this point in our age," Liliana explained.

"Hoho, I know. It’s just that even with the elixir, if you have lived long enough, you will still show signs of aging. After all, it wasn’t an anti-aging elixir but only slows down aging at best," the Grand Sage rubs his long beard.

"Living forever can probably be a big hell to have, especially if you see your family die before you. Well, we have experienced it recently, but it wasn’t our fault since they did sothing bad back then, and they have to be punished for doing sothing foolish. Anyways, enough of that, what brings you here? I know you like to travel, but I didn’t expect you to end up here in Darcero Kingdom and to my Granddaughter’s abode to boot!" Rakkan sat down on the sofa and invited the Grand Sage to do the sa.

"Granddaughter? You an, this majestic place?" he was surprised.

"Yeah, perhaps you have t her," Rakkan then pulls Elaina, who was just listening closely, with Julia closer to them.

"I didn’t know that the girl who can’t utilize mana and use magic was actually your granddaughter!" he exclaid, as he couldn’t believe it.

"Just because she doesn’t have the talent to use magic or even utilize mana like us doesn’t an she doesn’t have her best traits. We couldn’t even dream of making a farm like this, and my granddaughter single-handedly did it without too much problem. Not only that, but her cooking and the crops she grows are so healthy that even those grown magically with all the nutrients that should be inserted into that crop can’t compare to her own crops. And to top it off, she even developed a way to ta monsters herself and raise them as farm animals. She might not have earned the right to use magic, but she got compensated with better skills that are hard to replicate by other people!" Rakkan is very proud of it, and Elaina blushed in embarrassnt.

"I can see that. This place is filled with magical energy that even the magic tower can’t achieve, even if they continue to nurture things that can produce mana naturally. This place is sothing that I can only see in dreams and childhood tales. Even the once extinct fairies are living here peacefully just fine!"

Julia then chid in and put the conversation back on track, seeing that the two old n would rather discuss Elaina’s farm and her achievents than the question of Rakkan being answered.

"Master, you should answer the question first before talking like that. They are wondering why you are here at the mont."

"Ah, I apologize for sidetracking the conversation. Well, all I can say is that I am looking for a place where I can retire and have peace for myself."

"A place to retire?" Liliana frowned.

"Indeed. After all these years, I have travelled all over the continents and even ventured to places that have yet to be stepped on by humans or other races so that I can fulfill my journal. But I am getting older, and it is getting harder to travel with my age. I might not be dying soon, but I want to spend the remaining ti of my life relaxing and doing things I love rather than continuing to travel to the uncertainty," the Grand Sage explained.

"So right now, you are scouting for places to live for your retirent, then?" Rakkan tried to guess.

"Correct. So far, I have not yet found the right place that I can say is right for

to settle in. Until now, that is."

"Until now?" Liliana frowned.

"This farm is a place where I can experience peace and a place where nature and magic coexist naturally, and yet it is close enough to human civilization that one can say that it is impossible to begin with. A place that is enough for

to continue my observation of the world, and a place where perhaps I can live the remaining years of my life with people near ."

"Master...does that an...?"

The Grand Sage looked at Elaina and quickly asked her.

"Your na is Elaina, was it? Would you allow this old man to settle in and be a resident of this farm? Don’t worry, I won’t be ddling with your farm work or disrupting your activities. I just wish to live in a place where it is near civilization, but also near nature that one would say that it is a mix of both places. This place is sothing that I can say ticks off all those requirents I was looking for."

Elaina did not find this bad. Considering how strong the Grand Sage is, it is more beneficial to have him nearby. Not only can Julia study with him without moving far away, but he might also be a good and useful guy who can help out with things that are related to magic that Yona can’t handle. And perhaps even Yona will be able to learn things from him as well.

"I don’t see the problem, to be honest. If you are going to live here in the farm, then you will have to build your own dwelling. I heard magicians usually have lots of clutter to keep and they tend to keep a ssy room. If Julia didn’t use any pocket dinsion magic, then perhaps she would have made her room upstairs into a storage room due to how full of clutter it was from various things," Elaina said as she still rembered when she visited Julia’s pocket dinsion. It might be more spacious than her regular room, but the amount of clutter there, including books and tools for magic, is enough to say that it can make a clean room feel chaotic to look at in just a few seconds.

"You don’t have to worry. If possible, can I claim a small area of the vacant plot to use for my own space? I don’t need too much space and only need a minimal area to build what I need."

Elaina nodded. "Feel free to do so. I have yet to find a way would fill the empty space at the mont, so do what you can."

And so, the Grand Sage has beco a new resident of the farm. And although he will be on his way to retirent, his presence on that farm alone is enough to shift the gears of the world again. He is a key figure who will continue to make impactful things in history in the future. It might not be an apparent thing at the mont, but he will beco soone who will be considered a legendary figure in the future. Much more legendary than what he was at the mont.
