Chapter 363: Counterasure to the Problem
Elaina is soone who takes gossip like a passing rumor. She will most likely ignore most of it if the information is ridiculous or just plainly made up to make soone look bad. However, she is always open to listening on them. There are so things she can learn from just listening the rumors alone.
"Is this rumor you have heard sothing that can be trusted, Harvest Goddess?" Elaina asked.
"Well, I couldn’t really be too sure about that either, after all, it is just a rumor I heard from the man himself and it was sothing I don’t believe either as it sounded so much like so sort of a big stretch for . But since it involves the weather, it seems there is sothing going on that I don’t know," the Harvest Goddess said.
"Then what is it? If it was so unbelievable, it must be a lie," Elaina scratches her head. She can’t tell whether the Harvest Goddess was just being indecisive or not.
"You see, the night before the change of season happened, the boyfriend of Alyssa, you know? The guy who was said to be the representative of the rfolk Kingdom?"
"What about him?" Elaina has a hunch on what the Harvest Goddess has to say.
"He ca again and this ti, he was carrying an intel regarding so sort of plan that the rfolk elders were cooking for quite so ti. It was just so sort of petty revenge thing after their failed attempts at dealing with the problems like their previous invasions and such. It is just so sort of a payback and sothing that will allow the humans to "suffer" for a bit without any risk of causing real danger and more on causing minor annoyances and such."
"So, you an this rain then," Elaina guessed.
"That’s right. Since its almost sumr, and humans do love their sumr, they decided to make the sumr of humans...sothing more related to rainy season instead of having the sun always present in the sky for a whole season."
"For the whole season?! Are they crazy?!" Elaina couldn’t believe her ears. Sumr rain is fine as long as it won’t be too much. If it was caused by a storm, then she can’t do anything about it other than to deal with it. But to deliberately do it just because they want to do so little "payback?" for sothing that they have done first? That is sothing that she didn’t wanted to just pass as re payback.
"Aye, it does sound bad. But are they even capable of doing sothing like that? It sounds like advanced sorcery to . I don’t even know if humans are capable of altering weather for that long either."
"If they can alter weather and plan to do it, then perhaps they do have a way to prolong that weather. And for sumr to remain as a rainy season, that will already make things very bad for all people, including every farr, not just !"
"So this rainy weather is indeed a fake one?" the Harvest Goddess tilted her head.
"Yes. And here, I thought all gods and goddesses are capable of knowing a fake weather if they see one," Elaina scratches her head.
"Yeah, no. That’s not part of my abilities and what would I use the ability to know the weather in advance though? I might as well beco a Weather goddess and not so Harvest Goddess like this," Harvest Goddess sighed.
"Well, it doesn’t matter now. But thanks to your information, I do have a lead on who started this rainy sumr incident. If they just wanted to keep the weather rainy just because they wanted to do so, then that is no longer sothing I will tolerate. I still needed to keep planting and doing so fishing stuff for myself that I have planned out this sumr. I can’t just let them openly ruin it like that!"
With this knowledge, Elaina decided that she will do sothing about this matter. She can’t just let the rain continue for the whole sumr. It would have been fine if she was the only one affected by this but no, there are also others who would benefit a lot on fully stopping this whole plan of the rfolk.
Knowing who the perpetrator is not enough. If they are humans, perhaps she could potentially find them, but they are rfolk. And based on the intel alone, they are also rfolk people who are currently not on the land but are staying in the sea and enjoying the eventual conception of their plan to make humans suffer.
What Elaina needed right now, is more intel. What causes this phenonon, and how to stop it from proceeding further. And for that, she needed soone who are versed with magic. Her first choice is none other than Julia herself.
"I see. I think I see your point and I am also seeing why you are readily trying to deal with them as soon as possible. However, the culprit is going to be hard to track this ti around. If they are the elders of the rfolk Kingdom, then that ans the one who did the deed are their lackeys who should be still here in the land. That’s our target."
"Can you find them though?" Elaina frowned.
"And that is the problem. We only knew that they are the culprit but we don’t know who they really are, what they look like, and where they are currently situated. We don’t even have any belongings that are with them that we can use and exploit to track them down. Without it, we will be grasping in the dark on this. In short, I can’t help out too much on this matter. My abilities might be good, but I am not that capable to be able to do things that are close to impossible at this point."
Elaina shook her head. Is there no other way?
"I think I heard of your predicants, girls," soone suddenly intrudes on their conversation and entered Julia’s room. It turns out to be the witch, grinning and smug.
"Sounds nasty right? I didn’t expect those rfolk people still holds grudge to us humans even after we have fully shown that they are not going to be winning if they just keep on doing their stuff."
"Indeed. Haven’t changed much since the ti where the witch hunts were still pretty common. They might not be too common on the land, but I do see a few of them from ti to ti. And I even have a friend who was a rfolk back in the day that beca a witch as well like . I don’t know if she was still alive or not but I do rember her helping
out on so of the spells back in the days. She even imparted
a few spells that would be useful for dealing with rfolk like tracking or knowing if they are one, disguised as a human. Perhaps I can help out on your predicant right now, girls," the witch offered.
Elaina’s eyes lit up when she heard that. She really needed so help on dealing with the rfolk who dares to ss with her day and if the witch is capable of doing that, then she will not hesitate to take that job and do it.
"Tell us how to do it then. If we can deal and stop whatever they are doing, then perhaps we can stop having rainy weather all the ti this sumr."
"Oh, I can totally help. But I will need so ingredients that you might need to collect, Miss Elaina. And no, they are not plants as we will not be needing them."
"What is it?" Elaina frowned.
"I needed minerals. Lots of minerals to begin the ritual and also to mask our tracking power while we are searching for the enemies."
"Minerals? You an like copper, silver and gold?" Elaina frowned.
"Yes. Pure and unprocessed. One that is processed might not work well so we will not use it. Instead, we should take advantage of the power that the unprocessed ore has."
Julia frowned when she heard this. "Unprocessed ore has more power than regular and processed one?"
"Sure do. They still holds the natural power of the land and is still not diluted and properly removed from the veins that they are attached to, making them good materials for doing so rituals or spells. It isn’t a common knowledge since most magicians and mages have been taught that processed ore would hold superior materials but that is farther from the truth. You might as well find sothing new while waiting."
"It is a new information indeed, but are you going to send Sis on an errand?" Julia frowned.
Elaina shook her head at Julia and nodded on the witch’s words. "If that is what we will be needing just to ensure that we can keep this matter continue to work, then I will go and fetch what you will need. Give
a list on what I needed and I will begin right away," Elaina is determined to reverse anything that is happening. She needed to save sumr.
