Chapter 325: First Strata [III]
"So this place isn’t just all monster breeding grounds but there are also resting grounds like this. Great timing, I am also famished."
Elaina stopped as she descended on a floor that was much smaller in size but much more comfortable and a much better location for rest without worrying about any monster ambushes. One can even recuperate here if they needed to do so.
Elaina has passed two 4 floors so far on the first strata and just like she expected, the floor keeps expanding more and more, to the point that having no map will make soone get lost there. Not only that but the previous floors also have a few areas where traps are laid out. Although these traps are not lethal, they are designed to slow down soone, perfect for the monsters to attack the victim and finish them off.
As for the monsters, there are various monster types she has seen so far which are skeletons, slis, goblins, giant insects, and a few more treants. The most common are the skeletons and slis. The giant insects were a lot fewer than she expected and only appeared around the 3rd floor. As for the goblins, they are far more rare and have only fought a group when she dismantled a few of the traps. She concluded that the goblins were the main reason for the traps. The treants on the other hand only appear where the staircase to the next floor is located. It was like they were designed as a way to roadblock everyone who needed to reach the next floor.
Elaina sighed in relief when she arrived at the 5th floor where she is now. From the looks of the place, it is a resting area and seems to be acting as a checkpoint. There is also a bed and a small fountain with clean water on it. There is also a crude table with crude wooden chairs as well, making this place seem to be made specifically to house adventurers who are weary from their adventures.
Sitting down on the chair, the gods began to send more ssages to her which was weird since they are pretty quiet during the first few floors.
"[Looks like you are okay, Elaina.]" the God of Farming said in his ssage, seeming to be relieved of Elaina’s current state.
"Of course I am. But why does it seem like you don’t know what I was doing earlier? You sounded like you are doubting my safety?" Elaina asked after noticing the tone of the ssage.
"[Of course, he will be worried. After you descended into the labyrinth, we lost sight of you and couldn’t send the usual ssages to you, causing this guy to worry about what happened to you. He even troubleshoots a few things related to our ssage magic to you only for the magic to work again just now, allowing him to heave a sigh of relief!]" the Goddess of Taming seems to be teasing the God of Farming.
"Wait, really? I thought you guys were just keeping quiet because you guys are just letting
focus on the battles..." Elaina wasn’t expecting the little revelation.
"[Yeah. It was like we were being blocked from seeing your actions. The mont you descended on the labyrinth, everything that allowed us to monitor your actions. From the looks of it, you are still inside the labyrinth which ans that aside from the place you are on right now, the other places of the labyrinth are sothing that are out of our reach and we can’t do anything about it.]" the God of Farming revealed.
"Then how co you guys are now able to contact
like this now? I am still inside the labyrinth and that doesn’t make sense if you guys are not able to contact
because I am inside the labyrinth right now."
"[My guess is that your location is just lacking what causes the interruption in our end. Whatever causes those things is not present in your current location, allowing us to stay connected like this. But I guess once you leave there, we will not be able to connect again until either you found another place like that place you are staying at the mont or if you leave the place. Of course, this was just a speculation on our part, that is not a certain thing for us.]"
A power that blocks the communication of the gods. That is one thing that Elaina was not aware of. No wonder many people said that the labyrinth is much more dangerous than a dungeon and why it is more troubleso than the regular dungeons. It seems whatever causes it, blocks anything that would allow a god to intervene, making those who rely on the power that the gods bestowed on them to rely on themselves or die.
Now that Elaina knows this, she began to explain to the gods her observation inside the Labyrinth and her theory about the labyrinth’s power to block the power of the gods. It is just a theory but she might have sothing about it.
"But there is one thing I don’t understand. If the labyrinth is capable of blocking the power of the gods, then how co the almanac is still here with ? It should have been not accessible in any way by ."
"[Well, that power is already your own, Elaina. Although I have the power to still modify it like normal, this power is now yours and I have no ability to retrieve it back and stop you from using it. aning, this power is now your property and I have no other ans of ownership on it, aside from my ability to redo sothing like adding new content to it and whatnot. In short, this ability is now yours and not mine. Unlike the blessings that other gods give to their blessed ones where they can retrieve those blessings anyti they like, I can’t do that to the almanac at all.]" the God of Farming explained.
"[Wow. Even I was not expecting that, God of Farming, considering it is you. What made you choose that kind of way in the first place? Isn’t that a bit of risky to do so? I trust Elaina that she will do her job so I am not worried at all but what if it wasn’t Elaina you choose, will you still do that kind of thing?]" the Goddess of dicine asked, surprised by his decision.
"[And that is precisely why I did that decision since it was Elaina. If it was a different person, then I would not be doing this.]" the God of Farming answered.
"[But then, if that is the case, then Elaina can just transfer this power to other people!]" the Goddess of Taming exclaid.
"[I trust that Elaina will pass this power to a new person who will beco the rightful one that will inherit her legacy in the future. But that will happen in the future.]"
Elaina smiled knowing the utmost trust the God of Farming had with her. Although she still doesn’t understand how the God of Farming seems to blindly trust her so, she didn’t mind the attention and gladly accepted it.
After finishing her dinner, Elaina decided that it is ti to descend to the next floor. Saying goodbye to the gods for the ti being, she descended to the next floor where an ominour presence awaits her arrival.
