Chapter 314: Day of Judgent
With the witch moving in, Elaina changed a few of her schedules for the past few days to help the witch get slowly accustod to the regular life that she missed for a very long ti. It also allowed Elaina to slowly get to know her in the process and learn what she can do.
The witch’s na is Talia. And she is a few hundred years old. Her age is sothing that she already have not asured as she stopped counting the mont she started staying alone. Since she have no access to any sort of calendar, she has no idea what the actual date is and if it is already the day of her birthday or not. As a result, she decided to just leave as it is and forget about it.
She also learned that her magic power is comparable to the leaders of the Magician Tower or even much stronger than them. The only thing is that she barely uses any of these as a way to not be detected by anyone for years, making her a. bit of a beginner of so sort from modern magic.
What Elaina find fascinating is that Talia revealed that aside from dicinal herb cultivation, she also handles and utilize mushrooms to her disposal. That also ans that she can learn so tips and tricks in starting a mushroom farm.
There are plenty of stuff that she is still learning from her but she decided not to continue hogging her attention and let her do as she pleases with her newfound life. She deserved it after all these years of suffering alone.

A week passed by and while the witch has already started adapting rapidly thanks to everyone’s help. It was a short week and yet it seems that the witch enjoyed her ti a lot.
As for Elaina, she continues to do her tasks. At the mont, she is busy on the cave farm. Since the cave farm is barely in need of taking care of, she doesn’t need to keep on doing it daily like the regular basis.
Not only that but thanks to the specific seasons of the place, the plants are growing much nicely compared to the crops she was growing at farm that received much love and care. It is abnormal, sure, but Elaina is used to it at this point.
There are plenty of stuff to do when she returned to the dungeon farm. The crops are growing nicely and a few have already grown big and so are even showing of signs that they are ready to be harvested and consud.
And as usual, Elaina began her harvesting spree once more.
"Yes, as expected. The quality of the vegetables and a few fruits grown in the dungeon’s soil is different. Just how is it working though?" Elaina pondered as she plucked a few cucumbers from the plant.
Just as she thought she was about to be finished, Elaina overheard a few of adventurers talking about sothing big which was a piece of big news for it to be just a random rumor to be heard. It is a bit absurd but it seems that it wasn’t the case this ti around and while she is harvesting the plants on the field, she silently listens the adventurers gossiping.
"Ah right, today is the day, isn’t it?" one of the adventurers said casually as they waited for their turn to enter the labyrinth.
"Today? What do you an?"
"You know? The spectacle? Rember the last trial that happened a few days ago with the sentence being guilty?"
"Ah, you an that? I guess it is indeed so spectacle but not in a good way. After all, it’s been many years since the last incident the kingdom has done an execution in the process. Usually, they just let the cri go once they serve their ti in the local mines or if they have been left to rot in jail for a long ti."
"Well, considering their offenses, I don’t bla the kingdom from imposing the punishnt. Even I would be furious if I was the king myself."
"Haven’t heard much of the details though, but what cri is it that they really needed to die for it?"
"Rember the incident in the Town Square near the main port of the kingdom? During that ti, we just survived the winter problems with the monters and during that ti, the royals offered to distribute a few mooncakes as a way to celebrate the Winter Festival. It was just reduced to that since at that ti, people are running out of money for the repairs on their houses that suffered so damages during the winter incident."
"Oh, I do rember that. But isn’t it a bit minor incident? And no one died from that incident either so I don’t understand why they needed to die in the first place."
"They didn’t managed to kill anybody because they were thwarted before they can cause much damage to everyone and the one who do so were the forr heroes Mr. Rakkan and Ms. Liliana. There is a rumor that even the daughter of the two prisoners were also there to stop them but the rumors about her are not that credible so I am not sure if she was indeed present at that ti."
"So it was attempted terrorism with arson and illegal entry while the Luminiera Ban is up, plus the illegal possession of various explosives. Then if you add the injured, then the result is none other than the death penalty."
"They were not saved by Mr. Rakkan or Ms. Liliana from the verdict?"
"No. In fact, it seems that they are the ones who even pushed that notion to be done as they seed to have caused a lot of disturbance from that alone. Now they reap what they sow. Still, it is a bit disappointing we will miss that."
"Hey, I would rather earn so money and fight monsters than see soone die and treat it as so sort of attraction."
Hearing that, Elaina is quite sure of it. The rumors that she has heard just now are related to her parents. With both her grandparents ntioned, it wasn’t that hard to know who they were talking about.
"Death Penalty...huh..."
Although she expected her parents to be in the mines, she didn’t expect them to be executed. She was surprised by the results and looked at the ti. It is almost lunchti. She knows she didn’t care about them, but she wanted to see them one last ti and see if they ever beca repentant from their problems.
"I hate watching execution rites, but since it is my parents, I don’t think ignoring it completely is out of the question for ."
Finishing her work as quickly as she could, she returned ho to take lunch and prepare for her trip to the execution site. She might not care about them anymore but she wanted to see if this have changed her parents at all.
...
...
...
"I thought you don’t really care about them, Sis?" Julia is confused when she realized that Elaina is about to head to the execution site where her parents are going to be executed.
"It would have been different if it wasn’t an execution verdict but since it is now, I decided to head over and get this done with. I don’t want to remain at ho when those guys are leaving this world without
seeing them depart from this world," Elaina answered with a resolute look in her eyes.
"Well, it is true, Sis. The verdict is indeed the death penalty. But are you sure, Sis? You know that you don’t like watching any executions since you were still an empress. I don’t think you will even like seeing the execution process right now that you are a farr either."
"I know that I hate it, but I can’t just ignore it. By the way, what kind of execution are we even talking about? I only heard rumors so I am not even sure what kind it was in the first place. Garrote? Decapitation? Stone thro-" Elaina couldn’t continue talking since Princess Margaux blocked her mouth and Julia sighed in relief.
"Alright, Sis, I know you are quite familar with various execution process, but I don’t think you need to nurate them. But the execution process is none of those. It was said to be by hanging and leaving their bodies for a few days on the noose to ensure they don’t do anything stupid like doing so tricks to survive the initial hanging process," Julia revealed.
"I see. But it is good. That way, they will suffer for a while. Garrote would also be good choice for them but I don’t think they do have the machine for that execution thod."
"Sis, I don’t know if you are not really that caring about them or you are just plain excited to see them die? Not that I care anyways."
Elaina might sounded brutal just now, but compared to the suffering she and her brother Troy suffered, perhaps an execution is even an early release for all the cris they have committed.
