Chapter 309: The Apothecary Witch

Elaina cooked so lunch for the witch who have been eating wild vegetables, wild ga, jerky, and a few fruit related products like dried fruits and squeezed fresh fruit juice. Other than those, she barely eaten any fancy food nowadays that can be called a cuisine. She is just eating to get by and relieve her hunger.

"Here you go. Enjoy your al!"

Ever since Elaina unlocked the page of the Almanac related to cooking, Elaina also gained the skill bar for cooking and the cooking book pages in the Almanac as a guide for all of the recipes she have learned in life. She might not still in the level of Douglas, but that doesn’t an her cooking is terrible before. It’s just that she is now serving food that will no longer be treated as a novice food.

As for the witch, the mont she saw the food that Elaina served for her, her eyes lit up and her deanor changed. It has been so long. So long she already forgot all the delicacies of the world and no longer cares much about it. But seeing one gourt dish like this is another story. One that invokes so action to her stomach.

GROWL...

Elaina turned to the direction of the witch and the witch blushes in embarrassnt before she picks up her spoon on the plate and scoop a few pieces of his food. The food that Elaina made looked like a steak, but cooked in a well done state. The way it was cooked was so even that even Elaina couldn’t believe herself that she managed to do that in just one try.

And before the witch knew it, the plate was cleaned up and the steak that was previously sitting there disappeared without a trace. Not a single trace like it has been taken away or there was never a steak there in the first place.

"I... I never knew that I would get to eat food that is no longer jerky or bland soup. It feels like I have ascended to heaven!" the witch exclaid with so tears flowing out of her eyes.

"Hey, hey. Don’t die just yet. My food is barely considered as world class quality. And you haven’t experienced great food just yet so don’t go kicking the bucket just because you felt bliss once more!"

"Haha, sorry about that Farr. It’s just that it has been so long, I didn’t even notice how long have I been living like a hermit that I even forgot most of the dishes that I have eaten before and just only rember the crap dishes I have eaten before as a ans to eat."

"Well, that is great to hear. Considering you have not experienced eating these kinds of food for so long, it is best to have you experience the new experience of the world’s changes."

After the lunch concluded, Elaina urges the witch to head upstairs and check the room of Julia where Julia said to be waiting her arrival.

...

...

...

The witch slowly ascended the stairs. It wasn’t so hard to find Julia’s room. According to Elaina, Julia’s room slls almost the sa as the house of the witch but a lot less pungent than hers. And the witch agreed on what Elaina said, it is less pungent than hers. But the sll of various herbs being boiled is sothing that has been ingrained in her mind.

She knocked on Julia’s door and the latter opened revealing another young lady who peeked out her head in curiousity.

"Eh? Who are you?" the girl asked.

Julia’s voice echoed behind her. "It must be the witch. I invited her in my room so it must be her. Let her in, Princess."

Hearing that, the one that she called "Princess" nodded and opened the door wide for the witch to co in.

Entering the room allowed the witch to sll various sll of the herbs on the cauldron. She can tell that despite the sll is not as strong as the ones in her House’s concoction, the output and effectiveness of the concoction that Julia is creating is very potent and sothing can be even said to be comparable to hers.

"Sorry for the clutter, miss witch. Just look around for sothing to sit, or maybe the floor if you want to sit anywhere else aside from standing."

The witch smiled and shook her head. "It is fine. I can just sit on the floor. It isn’t a big deal."

The witch continued to observe the room and soon realized that Julia has filled her room with books of various apothecary books, tos, scrolls and many others that are related to magic and dicine creation.

"I almost forgot introducing this lady who is busy reading a few books here, Miss witch. This is the Princess of this Kingdom, Princess Margaux. She heard already that my Sis has brought a visitor and a witch to boot. You don’t need to be afraid of her, she is cool," Julia smiled.

"A royalty?!" The witch shivered. Afraid of what the girl will say at her.

"Miss Witch! Don’t be too alard! Witch hunts have already been abolished a long ti ago and witches like you are no longer seen as harbinger of death and the cause of the plague. Without the effort of the witches, the plague will not be cured fully!"

Julia nodded in response. "Yes. It wasn’t an exaggeration. Here take a look at this book. It is a history book and contains the entirety of the events that you have probably missed."

With a wave in her hand, the book that was previously lying on the floor floated in the air and flew straight to the Witch’s hands.

"A history book?"

"Do you know how to read?" Julia asked.

"I do. But I do hope that the language and letter system didn’t change drastically since my ti hiding from humanity," the Witch said as she opened the book.

She sighed in relief when the alphabet and the language she knows didn’t change at all and she is still able to read it.

There, she learned the true history of what happened when she went to hiding. It took around 10 years before the witch hunt was abolished after a few people from other kingdoms arrived and saved the witches. Not only did they saved the witches but also explained to the populace the truth of the plague and how the witchee are doing their best to find a cure. These people also expressed their sadness after knowing all the casualties that happened due to the witch hunt and lants that if the witches would have been left alone to create the cure, then perhaps the plague wouldn’t have progressed so far and wouldn’t have claid so many lives.

Many were still skeptical but their skepticism were changed when their beliefs were shattered by these n and they got a reality check. That is also the beginning of the world accepting the magic as part of their lives.

"So everything that happened and the abolishnt of the witch hunt was over after 10 years after I isolated myself? Then what was the point of

staying in the woods for so long?" The witch sighed in lant.

"A great experience. One experience of living in the nature for so long and still dedicated in creating a cure is sothing that is considered as a great thing. Your effort is not in vain. After all, if you have been making a dicine that is related to curing the plague, that must an you are an apothecary of the highest level. Only those who have reached that far is capable of understanding the cure of the plague."

"Eh? An apothecary?"

"The cure was complicated and according to those who have finished the cure, they didn’t expect it would be that long before the cure would be developed and the ingredients was so nurous that one would not be able to comprehend the substance of the dicine concoction unless they study the ingredients one by one which the witches did compile."

A compilation... The witch rembered her notebook that is made from parchnts of paper that she made herself by transmuting a few items to create paper which she then made as the little notebook she has been using to record various things.

"I do have a compilation of stuff related to all the dicine plants I have been using to create the cure. If you don’t mind

showing it, here it is.

Julia accepted the notes and began her review. At first, Julia was indifferent. But then, she changed her stance and her eyebrow creases.

"Miss witch... I underestimated you... These records of dicinal herbs... This is sothing that are not found in books... Be proud, this is sothing that can be published as an observation log for various dicinal herbs!"

The Witch was not expecting that reaction from Julia. Does that an her stay in the deep forest wasn’t a waste after all?
