Chapter 28: The Art of Taming

Taming is not part of Elaina's abilities. She hadn't tried taming before back when she was still young, and had not tried befriending any animals in the wilds. She would either hunt or avoid most of them depending on how dangerous and worth it is to deal with the process of befriending any animals or monsters and how it works so now that she is presented in taming monsters, Elaina seems to be a bit hesitant this ti around.

"Is it even safe to ta monsters and let them roam on the farm? They are still monsters though?" Elaina has concerns about it.

"[Yes. However, before you can get started, I suggest you check the ledger and buy the new item that will allow you to ta them. I can't materialize it like the Almanac so you will have to get it by the ledger. Don't worry, you won't need to spend anything to get one. Just order it on the ledger and you will get it.]"

Although Elaina is not sure much about this, she follows the suggestion of the new god and decides to check the ledger.

"Is this thing that I will be getting sothing that I can only use once and then I have to buy the subsequent usage next?" Elaina asked before she headed to the ledger.

"[No. It's kind of a tool like the Almanac. You can use it forever and it won't disappear or be used up. Don't worry about it.]"

Elaina was worried at first when she thought of that. She imagined that the tool that she would be getting was like the magic crystals that would no longer be usable if they ran out of their magic but hearing the confirmation, she sighed in relief.

As she reached the ledger, she started checking the items present and there was a new item that was sothing she had not seen before.

[Gloves of Taming] -an item required for taming wild animals and monsters.

Price: 0

"This must be it," Elaina then purchased the item from the ledger by checking it out on the paper before closing it. She then heads outside and the box containing the gloves is now in her hands.

"Gloves?" Elaina frowned. She thought it would be so kind of cage, or perhaps a pitfall trap, or the more traditional tool most tars use which is the chain.

"[Yes. These gloves are sothing you want to equip as you try to ta a monster. Your only choice of action to ta it is to hold the monster for a few monts and you will only know if you ta it if it glows brightly. It won't hurt the monster, nor will it beco violent after. It will just beco a docile creature that will help you.]"

"Are you serious? That simple?" Elaina was baffled. There is no way that's how it should be. After all, if it was the real process, then no tars would be dying.

"[Compared to the other ways of taming, this doesn't hurt the monster and it won't cause them to go hostile against you compared to other ways of taming that you know. Unless the monster you are trying to ta is already a hostile one, then taming one will be easy and you will not worry too much about it.]"

Elaina is not too sure about it but she is interested.

"Perhaps I can try. Since it will rain tomorrow, perhaps tomorrow is a good day to try this thod," Elaina is considering one.

"[In that case, try going inside the dungeon. So of the fowl beasts that you want to ta are prowling there. Just make sure to carry a weapon with you or perhaps, have the young girl who can use magic accompany you."

"Eh? The dungeon? I thought that place was not active and currently on dormant mode?"

"[It is in dormant mode but that doesn't an it will beco an empty place. It has so monsters but they are not dangerous. You can go ahead and explore it just fine as long as you are experienced in battles or you have soone who knows how to fight.]"

Elaina finally got sothing to do for tomorrow even during the rain. Perhaps she should prepare and tell Julia about the plan as well.

Then the first god started to talk again to Elaina.

"[Blessed one, your almanac has been updated to check on the monsters that you can ta and cannot ta, what they can do, and what they produce when tad. I compiled the available data of the dungeon as well but it will only update if you explore the area of the dungeon yourself.]"

Elaina opened the almanac once again and realized that the almanac had gotten a bit thicker with the new update.

"Will the Almanac get thicker the more updates it receives?" Elaina asked.

"[It's inevitable. More gods will join in a little later as well so the more you get to develop your farm and your business, the more gods will appear and help you which would then cause the Almanac to get thicker as a result. But this is a better option than giving you individual books about it. There is a high chance you will be confused instead.]"

"Hmm, that's true."

Elaina opened the almanac and a new bookmark with a paw print is present, representing the new update. Flipping through the pages displayed the monsters that Elaina will et in the dungeon. They have short descriptions and have detailed behavior if they can be tad, or if they give resources. There are also pictures as well, making the monsters look pretty lifelike.

"So not all monsters are taable? I thought all monsters could be tad?" Elaina frowned as she looked at the monster list and saw a few monsters labeled as "Cannot be tad."

The goddess of taming answered her question imdiately. "[Not all monsters. So just straight up ignore the taming thods completely and they are not ideal for taming at all. You either have to kill them or just straight-up ignore them.]"

"But most of them are taable and from the looks of it, not just a substitute farm livestock but also...helpers?" Elaina was not expecting to see it like that.

"[Yes. As I said, so monsters if tad will beco pretty reliable helpers. They might not be the best compared to machines and automated items humans use, but they do help a lot at tis and what do you know? They might even help you plant new plants as well. With your understanding of farming and monsters, I can see great potential for you to be capable of bringing this matter to the world.]"

Although it is kind of weird, Elaina is a bit excited about this new endeavor that she is about to partake in. There's nothing wrong with trying sothing new from ti to ti. And if this proves useful, then people don't need to continuously kill monsters without any thought aside from annihilating the monsters. And since monsters replicate very fast compared to normal animals, they might be a good alternative to normal livestock.

"It's a plan then. I will try my hand on taming."
